Step 1 is to stop worrying since the likelihood that you have contracted anything serious is remote.

Don't ignore what happened however, so step 2 is to book an appointment at a local - or if you prefer not so local - GUM clinic.

Lots of advice on accessing these services in this forum and if you ring them today you should have an appointment on Monday or Tuesday next week. If you have a partner, I would advise against unprotected sex until they give yuo the all clear.

Condoms should not break but it seems quite a few do. What sort of lube were you using? I believe that KY is a major factor in condom breakage, did you have any baby oil anywhere around you? Get checked out and let her know the result right way, you must both be worried, I hope it turns out fine. Obviously get advice from a GUM. Do not believe a word she has told you as there is no way of knowing if its true or not. As has been mentioned you would be very unlucky to have caught anything but i know its very worrying. Avoid those that have any mention of BB on their profiles is my advice, thats the best you can do. I hope everything turns out well and you are clear.

I agree with what's been posted with one proviso, the risk is actually pretty small and her reaction (fear) tends to support her story but still go to the GUM clinic. Chlamydia is much more prevalent than HIV however you can get a treatment over the counter from a pharmacy, as well as Thrush treatments.

The big no-no with condoms is letting oil get anywhere near them, avoid oil based grooming products before a punt. Baby oil should really be boycotted in this game.

The complication is that I am myself infected with chronic trichomoniasis (blood PCR: IgG titer 1:10) and high risk HPVs (swab PCR) numbers 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68 (can be one, can be all) that are proven to cause cancers. You can go to a GUM clinic without an appointment and don't have to give your real name if you don't want to. They will need a phone number so they can make contact if they need to. You will be required to undergo a series of tests and possibly go back in a couple of weeks for more tests.

Once you have made the initial visit your anxieties should reduce. Easy for me to say, but try not to worry too much and follow the rest of the advice on here about drinking plenty of fluids etc.

I visited Barts GUM. Basically, they refused to give PEP as the exposure was not certain. Additional HIV tests are required in 6 and 12 weeks. I took all tests they offered. They determined the unspecified urethritis (5 leukocytes) and gave me two tablets of Azithromycin. Additionally, I agreed to take the first dose of the HepB vaccine. I will need to have another one in a week, then another one in three weeks after and I finally will need to have a test to see whether it actually increased antibodies to HepB, the vaccine will also cover HepD at it relates to HepB. Being judgmental for a moment, I think you need to do more than try on this one until your tests report negative after the window period, out of decency and consideration for your partners.

Situations like this require a kind of doublethink: you should try to manage your level of anxiety by reflecting on how small your chances of contracting serious infection actually are; but you are morally obliged to be mindful that you have had a *potential* exposure when dealing with other partners.

Also being too vigorous, without enough lubrication (natural or otherwise) and pulling them too tight (you need some slack for movement!) are other main factors which can cause breaks too. It's amazing how many people really do not know how to use/wear condoms properly.

I had a very similar story last year. I also hope the OP is ok.For whats its worth, ive been told by a consultant who performs a lot of research for GUM related stuff, that HIV is very hard to transmit compared to other sti's such as herpes and so on. However why take a chance with your life right?

I tested several times only to find out they do not test for many STDs here in the UK: trichomonias, HPVs, herpes etc Why? They told they would not know what to tell people and explain how to treat them, BUT these things are treatable, there are efficient drugs for them at least to subdue effects. Not in this country unfortunately.
