This is an interesting response to the - as yet un-legislated -

position in the UK. Better legal minds than mine will perhaps be able to offer a more penetrating view.

My view, already expressed on this Board - is that either the bill will fail or, if it doesn't, it will still fail in practice because Chief Constables have better things to do with their time than divert resources to examining whether the punter had or had not done the necessary due dilligence on an escort to be absolved (the strict liability bit has no chance anyway). And the CPS also has better things with which to grapple than determining whether actual payment (or the promise of payment) took place (or was made).

Like - who said making a booking was the promise of payment?

This bit of the Bill is surely about to be flushed down the pan. And if I'm wrong, Ms Smith will in any event be consigned to history when, at the next election the Conservatives - right thinking blokes to a man - will sweep into power and all this anti-punter tosh will be history.

Well, having scanned through it (couldn't be arsed reading it carefully) it's basically saying that the "agency" is making no money, so therefore control for gain is clearly not applicable. It also seems to suggest that the agency doesn't act as a middle-man in the setting up of appointments. This negates the control aspect.

However none of this would prove or guarantee that the escort didn't have someone else putting her details on this website. 4dultw0rk is basically working in the same way as this; but clearly a large proportion of them are "controlled for gain" as described in the sexual offences act 2003. The profiles often appear indepenent but there's an agency/pimp of sorts in the background.

Short answer - you've still no guarantees that she isn't controlled for gain by someone somewhere.

Conservatives - right thinking blokes to a man

Some Conservatives have expressed support for the Bill, though not in such a way as to commit their leader. Bear in mind too that some Conservatives are women and therefore will have an almost insuperable instinct to make life difficult for men, hence they can in no way be relied upon unless they (like Nadine Dorries) have committed themselves against the Bill.

This web site is a non starter, punters will not pay the high fees to join, just to look at the Escorts that are listed. if any. This idea has been around a long time, I "flirted" with idea of setting up "Puntersclub" a similar idea where punters join FREE and Independent Escorts advertise their services FREE, this brings together the service provider with service user and eliminates the "control" element, but I just haven't the time and energy. As for the Bill it has stalled, there has been no progress past the Comittee Stage, if it doesn't start moving by mid-May, the Bill will run out of Parliamentary time in this session and be dead in the water.
