Yangon, Myanmar

21 posts in this topic

I know some of r bros here r just itching to get their bahts to Myanmar, so I decided to pre-empt the lotta u

Will be arriving mid-November flying to Bangkok then Air Asia to Yangon. Air Asia also flies to Yangon from Kuala Lumpur now so that is the cheap charlie option from London.

Just thought I'd post some preliminary details which hopefully will be of use to other travelers. All information below comes from 2 buddies who were there in September. If any of it turns out to be wrong, I'll rip them a new asshole when I get back

- The visa on arrival system has been abolished already. You will need to download 2 visa forms and 1 report on arrival form to take to the embassy with you, along with 3 passport fotos. In addition, you will need to provide copies of hotel details which you can book on the net, along with copies of flight details. I was even asked to provide proof of employment, a business cad did the trick. Strict. Cost me $30 but it may depend on the country where you apply for the visa. Took about 3 working days to receive

- A semi-decent hotel will set you back $30-$45. Anything less than that and you risk staying in a fleapit. Not all hotels are girl friendly so make sure you read the monger boards b4 you book. I was told that Paramount and Inya Lake are good in this respect.

- In $US, the official exchange rate is 1:6. The unofficial exchange rate is 1:9000 at the hotels. If you go to the market, you can get 1 : 10,000. Avoid the Indian guys there who may shortchange you. If you were to change at the official rate, Myanmar would be the most expensive country in the world :P

- US dollarz are the best currency to take but you need to ensure all notes are crispy pristine mint condition new. Even ones just folded over once may not be accepted.

- JJ Club recently burnt down but there are plenty of other places to meet gals :D

- LT rates are a standard 250,000 kyats although the girls and their mamasans may ask for more. The venues to meet the girls generally charge about 50,000 admission.

- Your UK cellphones will not work. You can get a local SIM cad for about $25 but wont be able to call outside the country. Thai SIM cads may work for some reason

- Few people speak English so it may be useful to learn some Burmese b4 you a g0-g0. Its not so difficult because words are short and sound like something in English

e.g. "Menu sheila" = Is there a menu "Myanmar beer pay bar" = Can I have a local beer

Elections take place on November 7th but no problems are anticipated. The old military chappies will be hanging up their uniforms and changing into suits to stand as civvies. Apparently, they will release Aung San Suu Kyi whose party are not contesting the elections although a splinter group will.

More later B)

Many Thanks for your report . Attention paid to details & informative as usual.

I still can't get my head around the Exchange rate . US v Kyats .

Reading on ISG ,i thought its approximately one US$ = 1000 Kyat , Read One Thousand .

So long term in Rangoon is about 30,000 . Thirty thousand Kyat = US 30???.

Over to you ...

Thanks .

You are absolutely correct

Math was never my strong point :(

So here we a g0-g0 again :

Official rate in $US 1:6

Unofficial rate $US 1:900 at hotels

Unofficial rate $US 1:1000 at market

LT rate $US 25,000 kyats

Apparently you can negoti8 a ST rate to get a girl to visit you mid-afternoon b4 she starts her evening shift which wud sent you back 15,000 kyats. My buddy did this through an English-speaking mamasan at Empress, a place with a bar and fashion show B)

How did the trip go?

And, the last two links here, they lead to a site that seems to be set up purely for Google Adsense clicking with a few pics of Pete Burns lookalikes?

Beyond that, hope you had a lovely time, but isn't punting in Yangon more trouble than it's worth?

Quote from a link above:

"A very feminine and sexy picture make the long hairs of the sexy Myanmar girls. It makes every centimeter of their body somehow sexy and feminine together with their Asian look and the very special Myanmar or Burma dress it's really exotic. It's part of loving their body, they wont look like a catwalk model but they do look pretty and sexy by the way who like this skinny catwalk models anyway ? There are all kind of variants, like Chinese girls, Indian girls and rather European looking girls since Myanmar has a long colonial golden Myanmar from English and Portuguese colonial times".

Get the exchange rate right, and if from Thailand, punt in Thailand. Look at the troubles in Myanmar/Burma, bear in mind the post Cyclone Nargis situation for the village girls who are probably escorting in Yangon as a result of the rice crop failure - and go straight back to Bangkok if you're interested in punting. Not a prude here, if I was passing through BKK I'd find it more than interesting, but sex tourism in Burma is a bad idea, putting it lightly.

May, you and I should go 'bird-dogging' in Thailand together. We could assemble some interesting three-somes. I'll be there from mid-Jan to mid-Feb - care to join me? :P

The links above are classic. Myanmar girls...

"But all don’t offer the real necessary on location dating experience. That means the best way of dating great Myanmar sexy girls is still, do it physical, go to Myanmar and Yangon and have a look. This is the real Myanmar dating of sexy girls. All others lack the excitement and vibration to meat the pretty and beautiful Myanmar girls face to face. They wont cheat you just give some presents in form of dollars and they make you happy. Myanmar sexy girls are some of the best girls around in Asia".

Despite the fact we visit the same Thai supermarket it appears (ancient post of yours I remembered), had you caught me a few months earlier, a King's Club based foray into BKK would have been fun. However,I think my husband to be and my Dad over there would be a bit worried about another cock in the room.

To contribute to the fashion show thing in this thread, I think I mentioned Pete Burns earlier too.

 I'm taking it on faith that you are NOT referring to a MMMF. Four-somes are fine with me, but only FFFMs! :P Edited by Tiggy 7

You can now get a visa online which is good news. The only report I have heard recently is that prices have gone up, especially hotels

TACHILEIK ("City Of The Golden Triangle")

After putting off visiting this country for the past few years, decided 2 take the plunge and very pleased I did. Interesting place, but not 4 those who enjoy 1st world comforts and I include Bangkok in that category now. 20 quid and a nut says that none of u chappies will ever visit here so I wont go 2 heavy on detail.

Got a cheap 3000 baht RT ticket on Air Asia from Bangkok to Chiang Rai. From airport there, a taxi 20 minutes to downtown bus station then 90 minute bus ride to border town called Mae Sai. Then a small bus to the border bridge 10 minutes. Foreigners use this point for visa runs. Very fast and str84ward process, at the Myanmar checkpoint u pay 500 baht for an entry permit which is a receipt for ur passport, which they keep in the office there. Then welcome to the 3rd world. A different one from the Thailand u just left. Never been in such a rundown and ethnically diverse place. No fastfood outlets or Primark here but an excellent street market selling all kinds of shite. Got some good fake Thai-made European n English club team soccer shirts 4 the current season.

BRING PLENTY OF THAI BAHT. There are only 2 ATMs in town, which only dispense the local currency. No 1 will accept that shite, they all want Thai baht. OK they will accept but u gotta really push it. They dont even know the exchange r8 so I came back with a bunch of red 5000 notes with elephants on.

Got a hotel nearby for 250 baht with ceiling fan. No hot water, bog paper or soap. Shared john and bucket shower. There are 2 poshish kinda hotelz up the road but am 2 much of a cheapsk8 to stay there. One is the MEKONG RIVER hotel which is ur landmark.

Checked in and went out on the prowl. No 1 here speaks English. If u dont speak some Thai, u wont b able to communic8 with jack shite. Walked 2 kms to the Mekong River hotel then got a motorbike taxi dude 2 take me n my wingman to the "baan punying" or houses. There are about 8 of them, down dirt trax to the right and left after the Mekong River hotel. Largest house had about 20 girls, smallest one had 5 who were all sisters and cousinz and overweit with blonde orange streaked hair. Even visited one house about 15 kms away in the middle of nowhere by a river, the younger girls run away when they saw us I guess bcoz they never saw a whitey b4. Even the stray dogs were scared of us here. U can sit and drink beers by the river if u want. We did.

Prices were from 400 to 1000 baht for ST in the room where the girls live and sleep. Price seemed to depend on age and quality of the house they lived in. Never saw any women over about 30 and most were under 25. The youngest ones mite not get into a Wetherspoons at nite. You pay in advance. Girls are interesting looking, a lot had dyed hair. Kinda mix of Thai and Indian and Chinese and ethnic hilltribes. Not fat, but not really thin either. The food here is shite and it showz. As for service, it dont a concept that exists. 30 minutes time limit. Clothes off, condom on, and str8 in, missionary style or with the girl on top. No such thing as a BJ and they didnt like having their priv8s touched 2 much. The best shag was a 500 baht one who actually put her tongue down my throat and am pretty sure it was her 1st time and she was trying it out bcoz she saw it in movies. After the act, in2 the shower/john to clean the johnson with a bucket of cold water. Good idea to bring those disposable wet towels u can buy in pharmacies, n ur own domes bcoz I wudnt wanna trust the local made 1s the girls have in their rooms. U can buy Durex in the pharmacies here and only 40 baht for 3 (70 in Thailand). We went with a total of 6 girls in 4 days, ukie my m8 did 4 and I did 2 but I aint 25 n e more.

Come evening, found 3 places. CLUB 7 is a Thai restaurant with good food and live music and slot machine casino and was able 2 watch live Premier League footie while doing chow. There were hostesses (FLs) sitting around, some of them nice looking but they never came n sat with me n my m8 bcoz they was scared of us. The manager told us that on r way out. Never asked price.

2nd place is STARDUST a KTV. They had a lot of really hot girls with prices from 200 to 500 per hour but just for them to sit with u in a karaoke room. Plus 500 baht per hour for the room, but u can take them out. 6000 LT! All the girls are Thai. This joint is for rich Thais who come across the border 4 a dirty weekend, like what we did but without that kinda spending power.

Last and best place is the niteclub at the Mekong River called B. Superb Thai live band, large beers cost 160. Open 9:30 PM thro 2.00 AM and there is actually a 30 minute time difference with Thailand. It is not a pickup joint and never saw n e FLs, but mainly groups of young locals in mixed company plus Thais over for the weekend.  A lot of alternative types if u know what I mean, dont drop ur wallet in the Gents. In fact they had security guards in there 2 stop naughty boys using the same john. Vitamin X appeared to be available. By midnite most of the patrons were totally outta their heads and some of them even spoke to us, didnt understand what they was saying tho. Upstairs is a KTV, same system as Stardust but Myanmar girls and cheaper. LT only 4000.

Definitely worth a visit but u need 2 b adventurous. Never felt n e danger, nice people. Saw a few whitey tourists and visa runners at the border market but none n e where else. Motorbike taxi drivers r same as everywhere so u gotta haggle a bit, reckon on 10 baht per km. Only real problem was the weather, pissed down all day and nite so got wet.

I havent checked the geography, but am pretty sure the real Mekong River goes nowhere near Tachileik.

My kinda of house   " . Largest house had about 20 girls, smallest one had 5 who were all sisters and cousinz and overweit with blonde orange streaked hair"...

That's how i love my Oriental girls to look ,blonde orange streaked hair like the young ones one sees on the streets of Shibuya Tokyo or Myeongdong Seoul .. Being a bit curvy is a bonus .

My favorite fantasy of an Oriental girl .
