Advice On Starting Escort Agency

52 posts in this topic

Hi all

I hope people on the forum can help my business partner and i, we would like to set up our own agency in Sheffield, We have created a great brand name logo's , site development is under way etc.. But we dont know the best way to approach the girls to work with us, we are not 100% on fee's etc, is it 10,20 or even 30% for each intoduction?.

How does an agency collect commissions?

what do girls look for in an agency?, are aim is to ensure the escorts are looked after, are safe and enjoy what they do, and we want to really build up a good honest brand name for escorts and clients alike.

I know people could be suspisious of a new agency and whist we build up the business we would list the escorts free with there own numbers.

Other ideas we had include offering clients a chauffeur service to incalls as well as drivers for the escorts etc..

Any feedback would be great

Paul.

If you aren't sure about cut the agency will take at this point, it sounds as if you don't have a business plan. I've never worked for an agency so am not clear on the fees, although I believe it can be any of the figures you mention depending on the agency, and their EXACT role.

I also understand that running an agency can take up quite a lot of time, and you will have overheads to cover too. Rates are also going to depend upon where you are going to place in the market, the clients you wish to attract and of course the girls you want to represent. Factor in the amount of income you need to cover your costs, and then the rewards you expect for yourself and the girls and you have your magic formula. Alternatively kidnap a current agency owner and grill them for information.

Regarding a business plan we are really at the development stage, as far as we have a logo, started building site and just digging for info, i have a rough idea in my head on our charging system, i dont really want to cut into the escorts earnings and take a large chunk, more adding on our charge to there current rates, i.e if they charge £100ph incall we would advertise £120ph on our site. So £20ph profit on each hour we arrange.

Our overheads would be minimal starting up and running web only service,

Paul, do you and your partner have any experience of the sex industry ie. have either of you worked in it ? I find it very strange you have website, logo, etc., underway yet you don't have a clue about the nitty gritty of fees, %s, collecting money, and hiring escorts. On the otherhand you could have plenty of ideas already, just checking there isn't a better way to do things ;)

We don’t have real experience in this area, yes we have lots of ideas, and we know the basics and workings of an agency but no real inside industry knowledge.

I do have a knack of starting and running businesses from scratch with limited experience in the sector, I managed by reading up on the subject endlessly and talking to people within the industry and trying it.

In the last 2 years Started businesses with a domestic removal company and a car park management business both industries I had limited prior knowledge, I jumped in learnt from mistakes and put systems in place so they now run themselves without major headaches, so I see this industry as any other really, so im asking for members advise on starting up, I have a great ideas on branding, advertising etc.. It’s the inner workings you just don’t get to read about, there are back handed ways of gaining this info but I think be honest and try asking people in the industry first.

Cheers

Paul.

Mmmm, I watched many programs and read loads of articles about brain surgery, especially trepanning and lobotomies. I am now thinking of setting up as a brain surgeon...

Paul - are you aware that what you are doing is illegal? Not being judgemental (I have nothing against agencies) but asking a genunine question. If you have been successful running businesses in other types of industry it seems strange to me to choose to start up doing something that could land you in legal trouble.

I'm an independent so can't give much advice on how agencies work, I have very little idea! However what I would say is that if you have an agency that takes good care of the ladies working for you, is non discriminatory, takes low commission and doesn't ask the ladies who work for you for too much personal information you will be popular among escorts - far too many agencies look out for their own interests well above those of the escorts working for them. I would also suggest that, if your business partner is also male, you look for a lady to work with you running the agency as I personally would be suspicious of an all-male run agency and am more inclined to trust women (who are likely to have a better understanding of how it feels to do this type of work, especially if they have a background in the sex industry which is not exactly an industry like any other).

The Dragons Den is certainly not in favour of this business idea. Come back with a sensible idea like slippers made of concrete or the like.

Why on earth do you think girls would want to give you a £20 per booking cut when you admit you know nothing about what you are doing. I suspect you have watched to many "get rich quick" programmes on TV.

Hmmm that’s help full, no I haven’t watched too many "get rich quick" TV programs recently if there are any?

I wont be asking any girls for a cut when i dont know what im doing wil i thats why im at the point i am, as for not knowing what im doing i know ill get a good site with good hits!

I started a removal business after doing 1 days work for a friends business as saw the potential in it , I invested £300 for a website, did a bit of gorilla marketing online and now have enquiry levels many companies would kill for in the present economic climate, it brings me a nice comfortable income.

Car Park Management, a friend of mine had the relative qualifications and licences but no clients, I didn’t know anything about the industry, a days worth of online research and I went out cold called and gained us business clients in the 1st day and now that’s become a profitable self running business

Im certainly no fool when it comes to business, how do business start, they start from people seeing an opportunity to make money, learning about the business then putting it into practice.

Escort agencies can’t be compared to brain surgery?

As for legalities Escort agency are not illegal, im not interested in starting a brothel using trafficked and forced women!

I want to build a reputable service for clients and Escorts alike, and keep within the law!

I appreciate the constructive replies greatly thanks keep them coming

Paul, you do realise if you make a mistake in this industry it can cost somebody their life ? Krystal Champagne mentions not asking ladies too many questions however in this climate, it's necessary for an agency to know that no one on their books is coerced, or forced, or working against their will as it could land you in court.

This is something i will take very seriously and has been the my main worry i would make sure i do all i can to ensure a girl was not being coerced or forced, my main aim would to provide a safe way for girls to work, and a safe service for the clients too, we have ideas to ensure this.

This industry is not like other's. The problem's encountered within it are rather unique to other area's of business. Live's are at stake, reputation,s can be ruined easily especially now that the internet rule's all. Perhaps it would be better for you and your partner to actually get your knicker's off and put your naughty bits out there. How can you understand the issue's of the sex workers you are hoping to employ if you do not understand them.

Flower it up how you like with disclaimers about time and companionship the minute you are taking money off girls for having sex with clients it is illegal.

Perhaps in your research you could look at how many people are currently in prison for owning escort agencies, not brothels but high traffic sites where they purely arrange the booing and take fee for the pleasure.

Paul,

Cloe sounds like she knows what she's talking about.

Have you considered that a lot of this is going to be people management? Sorting fuck-ups? Resolving differences?

Marketing, flogging the goods is the easy part. The hard part's keeping it all spinning. Supplying the goods you've flogged. Your other 2 projects, sounds like you've come across people who can do stuff & provided them with the opportunity to do so. Great. That you've had no major headaches implies to me that someone else has been having the headaches. No business is immune from them.

Now you're going into something that's a lot more hands on. You'll soon find that it's not just a case of fielding enquiries & passing the work out. You'll have a team of individuals, each with their own problems, jealousies, foibles. Other side of it you've got the service receivers who are just as difficult. Can't say I've ever thought of running an escort agency but I've run something analogous & can tell you it's bloody hard work.

well....

If you are as business savvy as you claim,

and if you have experience in "domestic removal"

and in "parking management"

You will have no problem making money.

No disrespect intended,

rather: "Good Luck".

(let us know the agency name, when you open, I'm too curious)

Please just research the law, control for gain now where it used to be immoral earnings. It all comes under proceeds of crime. Do you not think if it was not illegal every man and his mother would not be doing it.

Please tell me the law you have found where it is ok to pimp sorry arrange bookings for women because I can then stop looking over my shoulder.

Notorious Girls

and I do remember a few high profile cases am sure someone will be along to post very soon.

Not wishing to sound like a party pooper but I too agree - this industry is like no other in many, many ways. I've had well meant advice from friends who are in management, or run their own businesses and they had to agree standard business idea(l)s often don't work. Partly because there is such a high amount of fickality(hope that is a word I just made it up!), suspicion and a large portion of "You can't please everyone". Do one thing and it can really upset some, another thing and the first lot are at you again. It's also an area based upon reputation which takes time to build up. By the way the £20 profit?Thats not profit yet because you have advertising and other overheads such as phones, any office space etc to subtract.

I'm sure you don't intend to operate like these greedy and exploitative individuals, but they do show the profits to be made and the penalties to be avoided....

Madam has £2m confiscated:

This is a bit closer to your business model:

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/5198147.Escort_agency_couple_earnt_almost_half_a_million_pounds__court_rules/

Reading these stories I do notice that the emphasis appears to be on recovering cash rather than imprisonment for these 'crimes' nowadays. This must be due to overcrowded prisons and empty coffers!

And I know I'm a bit of a pedant when it comes to correct use of English but I do hope, if you want to really operate a high class agency, that you will ensure your advertising is grammatical and correctly spelled. eg Discreet not Discrete. A***W***K may be full of illiterate ads but if you want to appeal to professionals and aspire to be 'high class' then you should attend to these little details!

It always nice to find forum grammer police on patrol

Although i never mentioned i wanted to run a brothel, supply drugs or carry unlicenced firearms, i would think that perhaps added to his 4 years sentence, as for his partner she was a wpc using her position to gain advantages over competion, are there any standard internet based sites, who advertise for time only services, do not run brothels or use trafficing as a way to provide girls get into any legal tangles?

as for my spelling not much sleep for last few days

Yes there are lots of them but the minute they arrange the appointment for the lovely, happy, willing girl to have sex with someone for a fee they are controlling for gain. Where ever did you get the idea it was legal ? You can play by every rule in the book, you can vet and pick the happiest girls in the land but as soon as you set up you will have every rival agency within a 20 mile radius telling the police you have underage girls and supply them with drugs.

Paul -- from my professional perspective (what I do for a living), people who say "we have a logo, a website, and some slick marketing ideas but fuck all of substance" (which is pretty much what you are saying) -- are the sort of people who 99.9% of the time have no idea how to run a successful business. You have the very last, and arguably least important, parts of the jigsaw puzzle in place. Lipstick on a pig comes to mind. If you are serious, go back to square one and when you've actually built a successful business, worry about the brand identity. Nothing personal, and not trying to rain on your parade but I see warning signs all over your post.

Paul. It sounds like your experience lies more with marketing than with running businesses. Your previous ventures have been based on people who already know their industry, your input appears to be marketing their skills or resources. If you are keen to pursue this venture maybe you could do it in the same way, try to team up with someone who knows the industry. I am totally in agreement with Trolley that starting by talking about the logo and website does make it sound like you really don't know what you are doing. I am not wanting to put you down at all, but logos, websites, stationery, advertising, offices, furniture, signage etc etc are all superficial, you have to start with the core business which comes down to people, clients and suppliers. Thats not to say that the superficial stuff isn't important but it comes last not first.

"As for legalities Escort agency are not illegal, im not interested in starting a brothel using trafficked and forced women!"

If you come here asking for advice, maybe you should listen to people who know the business, hmm? Before I put up my first independent ad, I took legal advice from a law graduate friend of mine, as well as two current law students with access to a full legal library. They filled me in on what is legal, and what is not. It is important for me to understand these laws to make sure that my husband doesn't risk being accused of controlling prostitution for gain, the law which among other things covers the running of an escort agency.

If you treat the ladies well, don't have any underage girls working for you and keep out of any other illegal areas of business (like drugs) then you're unlikely to be prosecuted, in the same way that smoking weed at a friend's house every once in a while is unlikely to get you locked up for possession of a class B drug. Doesn't make it legal - if you choose to break the law, that comes with the risk that you could get caught and prosecuted. It also makes it a hell of a lot harder to go to the police if you need them to help you (if a rival agency owner decides to attack you or the escorts working for you, for example).

If you're still working under the delusion that setting up an escort agency is legal and that you can do this legitimately and openly without fear of legal repercussions, I suggest you do some research and consult a lawyer. Which really, you should have done well before designing a logo
