Snow Fun Punting.......

10 posts in this topic

In Arctic Conditions like these, travelling anywhere is difficult/dangerous and we are always wanrned

not to travel unless the journey is absolutely essential.

No doubt the punting scene is just as badly affected by this weather as any other business.

WGs may have difficulty getting into their parlours for in-calls, or find it difficult or impossible to get to out-calls.

Punters may be snowed in at home, or have to set off a lot earlier and spend much more time to get there.

There may be no let up for a while, so it may become a real issue for many in the near future [hopefully not]

How has this weather affected you as a punter/ WG, and do you consider Punting an 'Essentail Journey' ?

Sheffield has been pretty much screwed. It's coming back to life now, but in the last few days I wouldn't have driven anywhere, nevermind for a punt.

It has been bad where I live so I havent been able to get out, and neither would I no matter what. It really isnt worth it when the weather is so bad it will clear soon enough for me to go about my business.

The snow in North London has been minimal so I have been out every day on "essential" journeys

Doesn't seem to have affected the girls much . Seems to be business as usual

No snow in my part of North Devon, only hard frosts and a bit of rain yesterday evening. Trouble is there are no local punting opportunities!

I've got an appointment booked for next Tuesday which will involve a 4 hour trip from where I'm going to be based in Kent for the next few days and as much as it's someone I really want to see as a one off, I'm debating whether it's really worth the effort.

Trouble is I've had the day off work and appontment booked for a while and the anticipation is quite intense so may have to find something closer.

Unfortunately no punting couldn't get the car out of the drive way, and with icy roads didn't considered it to be a risk not worth taking. In terms of how essential the journey is, I would say for me heavy snow, dangerous conditions, snowed in then no punt not worth risking. But I would travel if there was light snow.

Actually been fine in MK.

Punted twice this week.

Had trouble getting reversing up off the drive as I live on a hill one morning but thats it.

Snowed heavily last night which I was worried about as I had a punt booked this morning but we seemed to get heavy rain which washed the lot away.

Odd tricky patch but no probs. Snows pretty much gone around here.
