Porn Laws

3 posts in this topic

I see that one of Nu Labours laws on extreme pornography had difficulties.

In January 2009 it became an offence in England and Wales to possess images which depict in an explicit or realistic way acts which threaten a person’s life or acts likely to result in serious injury to anus, genitals or breast. This past week a case was tried testing that legislation.

The Melonfarmers blog has a link: The defence called two expert witnesses, Professor Feona Attwood of Sheffield Hallam University and Dr Clarissa Smith of the University of Sunderland. They are probably the leading academic authorities in the field, and together wrote the definitive study of how the new law came into being – Extreme Concern: Regulating ‘dangerous pictures’ in the UK [pdf]. I cannot, however, download the good ladies' learned .pdf. Is this my PC and Firefox having a childish spat, or is there something wrong with the link that Melonfarmers' link takes you to?

If anyone else has succeeded in downloading the full version of the .pdf, and is willing to send it on please PM me.
