The former MP, who lost her Redditch seat she had held since 1997 at the last general election, will front the radio documentary that will offer a real-life insight into the porn industry.
"In making this programme, I've been able to challenge my own views and attitudes and I want others to have the chance to join the debate too."
The hour-long documentary, entitled, "Porn Again", will also include contributions from other politicians and feminist thinkers and investigate whether porn is too widely accessible.
Porn Again will be broadcast on Thursday March 3 from 9.30pm to 10.30pm and be followed by the Tony Livesey Show, during which Miss Smith will take calls from listeners. Five Live.
She has also applied to be a vice chairman of the BBC Trust.

The two-and-a-half-day-a-week job comes with a £77,000 salary – far more than an MP’s with shorter hours.

No idea if she got the job.

A rather mixed set of quotes. I will definitly listen to this.

"Vice chairman."

You know I read that as vice as in drugs sex and rock an roll. The true meaning passed me by totally.

I would have thought that her husband would have been a better choice - he even got the taxpayer to pay for his porn :D

Not sure I'd be able to listen to this without wanting to vomit all over this vile woman's face

I'm sorry. I'm not really like that but the nerve of their people. She took grotesque advantage of the laws regarding M.P's expenses, apologised for the "error" of getting caught....oops! sorry, I mean accidentally claiming for things that don't belong as part of expenses, gets away with it and still doesn't have the decency to just dissappear.

She'll have the "chance to challenge her own views" on pornography, which is something I applaud if she is serious. Sadly, I have my doubts, particularly as this is a BBC programme. I've always supported them but I'm begining to question their motives given their recent reporting of/ programme making about anything involving sex and can't imagine this will be any different.

There is a view from one commentator that she actually did not see porn as harmful, and that this program actually sees her become negative about porn.

The Five Live station has actually had some quite positive sex industry programs in the past.

Oh! I was unaware of that about the commentator. I'm probably wrongly working of tha assumption that she shares the views of some of her radfem colleauges.

That's good to know about five live. Not a station I tune into much but I'm glad to hear that the bbc are trying to give a balanced view on some of its stations.

I wonder what her husband will be doing whilst she's out making the program.

I trust that she has chosen to donate any fee that she receives for this program to a suitably ethical cause, and I'm not talking about paying to extend the kitchen at her "second" home.

Oh for goodness sake have none of you ever put a porn film on expenses while staying on company business?

It was highly embarrassing, but hardly in the same league as the bogus mortgage/rent claims that ex-MPs are now being jailed for.

Jacqui Smith's real "crime" was being a very second-rate politician who found herself in one of the high offices of state almost by default.

Vin daLoo is totally right.

But I seriously doubt she is the best person to be producing a piece of journalism upon this particular subject, One about which she clearly knows absolutely shit all, if her attitude to other gainful sexual activities are anything to go by her reportage will be so trammelled by her predjuces it will be as of naught.

Sorry... was she not claiming her sisters spare bedroom was her main home, and the place where her partner and kids was her second home?

I looked at her expenses -her electric bill was phenonemal.

Yes, I agree. This is what I find most annoying. The porn thing was nothing compared to this although it would suggest that she exploited the "rules" on expenses as much possible. Not someone who engenders respect or trust in anyway IMHO.

There's a two page interview with Jacqui Smith about this in next week's Radio Times. Difficult to infer anything about the tenor of the programme from it though.

I'm not sure my taxes are best spent getting her husband off. She comes across as insipid as the Hamilton's did a few years back. Caught doing wrong, lacking in any integrity, mitigating with ignorance and a victim status and jumping on the Z Lister trail. No thanks Mrs Smith.

There was a suggestion in the paper this morning that new evidence had come to light which shifted the blame for the porn incident from her husband to her son, make of that what you will. She also seemed to be of the opinion that it was this porn incident that caused the voters to dump her, not her run in with the expenses guidelines, or her performance as Home secretary. Deluded, or what, she presumably thinks she is paving the way to doing a Mandleson, and return from the dead, but we know better !

£10 on a porn film is stupid and embarrassing, pretending that a spare room in your sister's house is your main residence (to obtain financial gain), is in my opinion much worse and tantamount to corruption. Curious that she represented a party founded on socialist principles, I still haven't been able to reconcile her behaviour with that fact

Her comments and behaviour are a deliberate attempt at revisionist history. She trying to make it look like this is all about double standard over porn, knowing full well society is growing increasingly tolerant about it, thereby causing a cover up of her abuse of public office and corruption. Her crime was not that her husband or son watched porn but that she tried to fiddle her expenses to reclaim it's cost.
