I know it's always a risky business punting in the Middle East but Oman seems more relaxed than most Islamic countries. I'm going there on business soon and not found much on the internet - anyone been to Muscat recently and any tips on finding a punt there please?

Stayed at The Chedi in Muscat. Can recommend the hotel but that's about it. Explore the natural beauty in Muscat then punt in Dubai on your way there or back.

I went to a restaurant / bar in central Muttrah with a group of business contacts and the bar area was full of ex pats who were clearly there for much more than pre-dinner drinks. I would recommend that you ask the whereabouts of the currant favourite ex pat haunts in Muttrah either from the hotel bell hops or English speaking taxi driver. Oman is simply the most enthralling place to go in that part of the Gulf, and amazingly pro-Brit in my experience.
