Interesting Article

That was a very good article and about time too. He was right in saying the only real prostitutes are the ones that choose to do it. Sex slavery should be stopped and I hope people listen to him.

Interesting and reasonably balanced.

Think he is still buying into the inflated numbers on trafficking, but he also makes an important point about the other great tragedy of prostitution, the on-street trade, and he says let the off-street trade be. Can't argue with that.

Hm, this article does give mixed signals, though I do agree with the distinction he draws between voluntary and enforced prostitution. But one minute he's saying, "The previous Labour government did some sterling work, and Harriet Harman should be commended for ensuring public attention", the next he's saying that as regards WGs who have chosen their profession, "we should let them get on with it" - hardly the kind of message of tolerance Harman had in mind. He doesn't source any of his claims, and I have to say my impression is that he is well-meaning but naive and not very well-informed.

Possibly, but coming from a politician, it's got to be a start compared to some of his peers.

Bueregard, I think you're being a little harsh. I think Harman did a good job in raising the debate about sex slavery - and that was the point i think he was making. But he goes on to say the debate has been confused and drawn the wrong conclusion, hence why he suggests the escorts who do it because they want to should be allowed to get on with it, freeing up resources to concentrate on sex slavery itself.
