Would You Have Punted/escorted Before The Internet?

54 posts in this topic

I've grown up with the internet, it was just starting to come alive in the late 90s when I was at Uni and broadband became common when I started my first 'proper' job.

It was only through the internet that I became really aware that working girls even existed. Seeing all these beautiful, seemingly self-confident professional escorts burst the opinion I had that all women who had sex for money were heroin-addicted streetwalking victims. I found Punternet by accident, and years before I booked a WG I used to browse websites getting a thrill out of knowing I could phone the number and the woman in the pictures would come over and have sex with me.

Without all of this build-up and research I'm pretty sure I never would have booked an escort.

For those of you who became a punter or a WG in the age of the internet, would you have done it even without the vast wealth of information that's available on the net?

For those of you who were active before the rise of the information superhighway, what planted the seed in your head that booking or becoming a WG was the way to go?

I read a most helpful article in the Sunday Times Colour Supplement about the walk-ups in Shepherd Market and the massage parlours in the West End. I tried them, and at once realised I was on to a good thing.

I saw all the cards in the phone boxes in Marble Arch when I visited London. Transparency via the internet has made things much better (and better value).

Twas verily a total nightmare!

Buy a seedy contact mag off the top shelf of a back street newsagent. Telephone calls from street phone boxes because you couldn't call from home or work. No satnav or routeplanner to help you get to location. No way of checking if the WG had positive reviews. Little photo evidence of what the girl looks like. Little info about the services offered. etc. etc. As a result, very few punts and more miss than hit.

Thankyou to all the people who contributed to the development of the internet!

PS - didn't see your post Ace Ventura whilst composing mine!

The more things change, the more they stay the same .... ;) Only the medium has changed.

False pictures are still with us .........

I suppose London/Soho has always had a plethora of girls and walk ups, hostess clubs etc... way before the internet was around. Agencies existed in the 70's in London but with no mobile phones/www's it was a very different set up to what we have today. Madams ran the girls and the bulk of clients were Arabs with more money than sense.

But what of the rest of the Uk.... other cities where walk ups and the like never existed as far as I know.

Of course pre internet days... brothels have always been tucked away in back streets in cities outside of London but a great many men may have shunned these fearing danger and disease..... similarly they would have hesitated going down the

street girl route.

Other than contact magazines I do not think there was much at all for men to find paid sex with independents and I know that had

the internet not appeared then I would not be doing this job at all.

The net makes it so easy for all concerned and some clients tell me that years back their only option was to

write to box numbers through mags and try to set up meetings which could take anything up to a few weeks!

So much for short notice appointments  just imagine having to plan a meeting only by written correspondence

and maybe eventually a phone call and then find that come the day of the meeting, that fire in the loins had gone out!

Touring Soho, cards in phoneboxes and ads in my local newspaper got me started followed by Contact Mags both direct that had phone numbers and so cost more and indirect where i had to send a letter to the Mag who forwarded it on for which i used an Accomadation address as my return address.

Although things have massively improved since those days in punting terms, i did meet some WGs who were really very amateur and just making some extra money and had some great times, i also turned up sometimes to find horrors who i sometimes shagged as i wasnt very picky then.

I think its impossible to say whether someone wouldnt of punted without the net as there whole viewpoint now is coloured by the technology available. Who knows is what i would say.

My first punt was a soho walkup, I had no idea what to expect.

I read an article in Mayfair magazine about a parlour in Nuneaton. I went looking for it, but didn't find it, but did find one in Nottingham.

At some point the Sport came out which had columns of numbers for escorts and payouts.

Then the intrtnrg, which has made thing easier for both sides of the arrangement, but the info was already around before that.

So was mine, many years ago. After a brief pause, to get over the shock, I have never looked back. However, the interwebbie thing has made life much easier for all of us.

Did. Late 1990s. Local papers, Daily Sport, Glasgow street girls (many of them were clean & very presentable back then).

So much has changed, mostly for the better, but not public, local government and media attitudes which are mostly utterly unenlightened. LEO (police) attitudes still vary a lot.

Before finding Punternet I thought all the bad things the public perception has of this hobby must be true. When I saw how many girls were available in my town and the good reviews they were getting I changed my mind. Although my first punt wasn't planned as a client took me to a parlor while I was abroad on a business trip. After I popped my punting cherry that was it. Happy days.

I forgot to mention cards in news agents' windows. I used those quite a bit.

Now I have s phone that allows me to do research whilst lying next to a snoring wife.

This is progress.

Pretty sure I would never have punted but for the internet. . Thinking back, I probably would have thought that it was a dangerous scene filled with pimps and rip-ff merchants, streetwalkers with drug problems or high end call-girls who charged enormous sums of money their services. The internet has killed off all of that and maded the whole scene understandable and allowed easy access. I agree with another poster here, the research is a hugely attractive part of punting for me ( eats up ridiculous time though :o ). I choose my punt carefully as I like to narrow down to one lady and focus on her. I am not great at havibg a plan B. When I want to see a particular girl, then at that time and in that mood, thats the only girl I want to see !!

This is my experience too. I wonder however if the internet has had an impact on the number and type of women who offer services. It gives them the opportunity to work more independently and away from organised crime, pimps etc. One of the very pleasant surprises for me has been how many well educated, middle class women offer escorting services. Maybe it was alwasy so but I suspect that the internet offers them a route in that they would not have had in the past.

I was an active punter in the Amsterdam RLD before I discovered the internet, but in those days I thought Amsterdam was the sex capital of the world and it was the be-all and end-all of the sex trade for me.

Thanks to the internet I discovered the great punting scene in the UK to start with in the late 90s/early 00s, and then about the punting scene worldwide, which led me to discover the fantastic FKK clubs in Germany that have been the main focus of my punting in recent times.

My punting experience began just on the dawn of the internet age. In fact, my first punt was the result of checking out cards in a newsagents shop window. The punt itself wasn't good at all, partly due to my inexperience and partly due to the WG's attitude of getting me to cum asap. But it's been uphill since then with every subsequent punting experience being sourced on the net.

If there wasn't the internet around today, I think that I would still be punting, but probably very infrequently and not at the rate which I'm doing now, which is twice a month. Without the internet I wouldn't be able to do my homework on WGs I fancy. There'd be no recommendations to take into consideration, and also no visuals on which to get an idea of what the service provider looks like. I appreciate that Photoshop has changed the goalposts a bit, in that the reality of the girl sometimes doesn't match her on-line pix, but this is something that is tempered with the quality of recommendations from other punters. Without the internet, I wouldn't be able to do the pains-taking research which is necessary before each and every punt. And if I wasn't able to do the pre-punt research, then I reckon that my punting experience would be down to the occasional, spur-of-the-moment chance based on ads in the local rag or shop window cards. I would imagine that in that situation the level of poor punts would be high and similar to my first punt, and nothing like the 95% satisfaction rate which I've achieved thanks to internet research.

First punt was about a couple of years ago, I used the internet to find her and I don't think I would of started had it not been for looking it up on Google.

Punternet helped me decide to do it too, after browsing the forums and reports. I only found this site after seeing it in the paper, something to do with the government wanting to shut it down or whatever.

I only started punting in 2002, a couple of years after I retired at which time an 'arrangement' I had had with a lady at work became impossible to sustain.

Somehow or other I discovered Punternet. (prolly surfing porn sites and the like). My careful research of the FRs led to a first encounter with probably one of the best ever escorts in my neck of the woods and a crossing of the Rubicon that I have never regretted for an instant.

100++ punts later and £26k spent I still love it!

yeah I started punting before I really got into the whole 'internet' thing - around 1997 or thereabouts

the net and 'punternet' make the whole business so much easier, reducing potential disappointment and ripoffs, and opened up a whole bigger world of choice

Back in the 80's not long after I started work,I realised that SOHO was full of brothels and WGs,I never had the guts to go into a brothel and I think there was one on Meard street,it seemed to have girls hanging around inside and out,I passed it a few times but never had the guts to go up and see what was going on!

I ceratinly went to a few of the sex shops there, went into a few of the booths and wanked over the films they showed there!

I remeber coming out of one (Greek st) and a girl approached me, obviously knowing that I was into this sort of thing as I'd just come out of a sex shop with a bag that had porn mags in it,she said "you want a girl"? well I was actually lost for words at first, she said it was, I think £30 quid, can't quite remember but we had to go down a back alley and do it down there, really, before I could actually say yes,she had dragged me down the alley and asked for the money whilst showing me her breasts!!!

I couldn't help myself and just fumbled with my money and handed it over, we went further down the (dimly lit) alley and she suddenly stopped bent over a small wall there and told me to help myself! I'll always remember that bit - help myself!!!

Which I did, I had no idea about anal sex in those days so didn't even look at her anus, which I would do nowadays, I must've been mad but I went straight up her without a condom and could only have lasted about 2mins before I shot my load, she stood up straightened her dress and just walked off,I felt like I had been used!!!

Was a good fuck but, I've got to tell you,I was worried for many days after about having caught something, never did that again I can tell you,it was however a great fuck - short as it was!

That sounds like a clip joint to me, ladies outside or in the doorway enticing you in and then being told once inside that you have to buy a minimum of half a bottle of champagne for £50, if you refused a big ugly fucker starts getting heavy. Those were the days, not.

Sounds like you were lucky the WG didnt clip you, taking you down a dark alley, taking your cash and then saying she needed a pee only to disappear.

For me, the internet around '95/96, changed everything about punting. I would never have punted before for sure. It gave me the confidence that this was 'normal' and access to so much information.
