Milton Keynes

I'm frequently hearing about the numerous establishments/WGs that are based in Milton Keynes and wondered why it seems to be the hub of WG activity in the UK. Has it been like this for a long time?

I'm of the opinion that London still rules (at both ends of the scale), plus places like mancs to a lesser degree, but agree that MK is a surprising hotspot in the middle of beyond. I've actually enjoyed going to MK on a number of occasion, not just for the quality of the punt, but it actually makes quite a good day out as well.

A good day out to MK. Yes a good punt, but concrete cows.

I often drive across MK from West to East, and back. Something like 14, roundabouts. I started counting them, in case they slipped an extra one in. Now a habit, Boy racer paradise, national speed limit through MK, other than the real centre and estates. So 70, then a roundabout. Great fun, alas my partner in the passenger seat does not agree.

Certainly for at least 15 years. Don't really know why, but I am not complaining!

The same reason businesses boom in Milton Keynes, fantastic road and rail links.

I did MK to Banbury for 2 years. Fecking horrible run :(. My MK to Beford run that I have done for the last 12+ years is now great since the new A421 bypass has opened. Still have 8 roundabouts to do each way, every day. Great in the M3, not so great in the X5 ;)

A bit hard on the tyres.

And not the only sort of rubber getting worn out in vast quantities from the sound of it... :) :)

True, that road is a real nightmare at the best of times- especially after a punt when your your legs are numb !! :D

Many do say that, but I always get 2-3 years out of a pair of front tyres - so depends how you drive them I think !

I actually like the roundabouts, because it keeps the traffic moving, but its true that in MK all the roads lead to brothels !! :P

Maybe Durex will set up their warehouse & distribution centre here soon, in fact I am suprised they haven't already !

MK is easily the best area in the South, possibly the whole country, though I've no idea why.

Only wish I lived closer and could visit more often

Sometimes had the shaky leg when trying to use the clutch after the odd punt ;)

And tackling a roundabout when you haven't comeplety washed your hands of baby oil has led to a few scary moments when the wheel spins through your hands!

I live in MK and once I had to swap the left tyres for the right as the left ones wore down quicker cos of the roundabouts. Oops.

been here since the 80's myself...

Used to have great nightlife then, and it still does, but I never really liked living here, but work is always good.

Wasnt until I moved North for a few years that I really appreciated it, and could not wait to return !

So I do entirely agree with you, but the best reason I can come up with is that 'everything is here and its easy to get there quickly'.:D

if that makes any sense to anyone who doesn't live here !!! :)

I heard today that MK has the highest proportion of young families in the country.

So:

large number of young families --> few single or available women PLUS single men feel alienated or just can't meet anyone --> more WGs needed.

Plausible?

I don't know why to be honest. It could be that the demand is high, plenty of companies based there (thus office workers looking for relief, to speak at the end of the day), or that it's a fast growing town.

That said also, I think it only applies to independent escorts. Most large towns have numerous private flats/houses. Luton is not far by, and at any time there are about 20 or so private flats. Similar with Bedford.
