Poppers

35 posts in this topic

I have been offered poppers a couple of times but have always declined as I am not sure what they will do for me. I am also unsure of any side effects. So a couple of queries

1 What do poppers do for a guy while engaged in sex?

2 What are the side effects for a guy in his mid 60's who is on medication for hypertension, high blood pressure and high cholesterol?

3 Do they heighten senses when engaged in a BDSM scenario?

I would be grateful for any advice or info.

Do not under any circumstances take poppers with these health problems your heart rate will increase after a sniff so very dangerous if you have blood pressure problems.

Personally, I'm not a fan as it gives me a major headache and I don't like the smell.

It's not advisable to take poppers if you're on medication to reduce your blood pressure or taking Viagra, as it can cause your blood pressure to drop to a dangerous level.

At your age and in your condition, poppers are definitely s very bad career move. Do not even think about going there, unless you have a deathwish.

This is a subject that crops up from time to time, and my advice to you would be to find out the info on them and then decide for yourself if you want to have a go.

I indulge from time to time if the mood takes me - if I'm feeling really horny actually, but I don't use them very often and would never encourage anyone else to do the same. I have never had a headache, but they have given me dodgy vision before now, or that could be down to the earth moving orgasm I just experienced

Given your health background I would say you should not take them, but I'm not a doctor.

interesting u should say that. poppers have muscle relaxing properties. i recently learned that they also affect eye muscles causing early zooming problems. i like poppers but now need glasses for small prints. i am sure taking them has affected my eye sight.

Thanks to you all for your considered advice. I shall heed it and avoid any popper taking. I shall stick to the odd glass of red wine and occasional Irish whiskey for my recreational drugs of choice. Obviously, not during punting, but in my leisure time!

I appreciate the time and effort you have given to providing me with sensible guidance.

Remembers that old joke.... Father catches son wanking in his bedroom. "Don't do that son - you'll go blind" "Can I just do it until I need glasses then"?

LOL

That site says 'May help relax anal sphincter muscles'. I'd rather not, thank you very much......

Well I am there already so I should stop.

I do like them but am now try to use them as little as possible. It makes me feel tired and cough as I get older. The old poppers were of course more effective. Fresh ones don't normally give a headache but if it is opened and kept outside the fridge then they will give headache. In my experience you either love them or hate them. I have been with girls who tried it with me and got hooked and I have been with others who almost passed out. I remember one occasion with this gorgeous girl who wanted to try it. Within seconds of sniffing it her colour changed and said she can't breath. I think she got scared of the buzz it gave her and panicked. I was scared but tried to calmn her down, opened the windows and put a wet cloth on her face and she came around. Since that experience I am very careful if a girl wants to try it with me for first time.

I know that some girls offer to sell poppers, but they had better be certain that the guy is not taking viagra, otherwise the "stiff" may not be quite the one she contemplated (worst case scenario, but read the packet).

I know I may come across as weird or boring, but I don't smoke, drink (I did for a few years only in my early 20's) and have never touched any illegal drug. I'm also pretty careful what I put into my body food wise, although do use some fitness supplements like a multi vitamin, whey, creatine.

You get one body, so why try and mess it up when there is no need?

I associate it with the rave/party scene of the 90s and early 2000s. Does nothing but give me a headache, have had the odd client wish to use them. I am also under the impression they are a solvent, if so not a million miles away from glue sniffing?

Basically, yes.

Obviously for some its for the perceived fun and the buzz it gives you. If your in a social circle with others that smoke, drink and/or take drugs some feel pressured into doing the same, looking for acceptance. Not everyone has your resolve and sense.

I was in such a social circle in the 80s and got into smoking cannabis, totally my personal responsibility absolutely, and it was a great laugh being on the same mental level as my mates, getting the giggles together, getting the munchies together and just having a laugh about things that we wouldnt find funny if straight. Among my greatest times but the downside was in my case, laziness not wanting to get off my arse and developing a seriously bad smokers cough which could be got round by eating the cannabis in cakes. This cough still lingered though so i gave up in the early 90s.

I have not taken any other illegal drugs and the predominant form of cannabis around now is skunk which is much stronger than the rocky solids i used to smoke. Being straight is better than being on drugs in my experience, much better, but cannabis was about a shared experience with others for me at a certain time in my late teens early twenties with certain people, and i am glad i had those experiences.

I guess for me smiths, the resolve is both a positive and negative.

I generally just don't feel peer pressure, but I guess that lack of "socialness" for want of a better word, is a negative in someways, while a positive in others.

DO NOT TAKE POPPERS.

They contain nitrates (which is also found in cigarette smoke and feces) and can cause serious health complications over extended use.

Cancer is but one of them.

As is normally with nitrates the "high" you get can also get you addicted to them.

Google "Poppers and you health" for more details.

I took poppers once, at a festival in my teens (so not sex related). Had a 60 second headrush followed by a nasty but short headache, have never had the urge to try them again.

On a parlour punt a few months back, I asked the girl who I was seeing on a second visit wether she ever managed to cum on a 30 minute booking.

She asked me to hold on a minute and hopped off the bed and left the room. She reappeared a few seconds later with a small bottle.

She sat opposite me on the bed, legs spear wide and proceeded to sniff from the bottle. She explained that she could come quicker when she was on poppers.

It was a shame as it spoiled the momemt for me and I did not feel like having sex with her and so asked her to finish me by hand.

I know she took it 'partly' for my advantage, but being anti-chemical as I am I just felt that her 'gloss' had faded too rapidly and the punt was ruined.

Its a real shame that such a lovely girl [and mother] , who I did want to see regularly, had such a terrible habit.

Sadly I have not returned since. I understand that it goes on, but its not nice to see, so best be careful what you ask for sometimes :(

Only just seen this thread. Nobody's stated the obvious. You can't get proper poppers in the UK. The isobutyl shit they knock out here burns your nose and fills your nasal passages with what feels like glue. UK poppers are vile, avoid them at all costs. Proper alkyl nitrites are only legally available overseas.

Sounds like a total over reaction on your part. Taking poppers is not a habit. You don't get hooked on it. It just gives you a short term buzz which heightens sexual pleasure. WGs rarely take this with a client as it can give headache as a side effect. She must have liked you to take it with you and seems you blew it.

It is true that changes in law in the UK forbid the sale of the original poppers for good reasons as they were fairly potent. The new brand of poppers in the UK are less potent and less likely to cause you serious harm if you suffer from heart or lung conditions. But poppers in general only burn your nose if they are old. Once opened they should be kept in a fridge or better freezer and disposed of within 2-3 days. Direct contact with skin must also be avoided.

Have to agree with what the other guys said. What a shame you can't see past something that was done out of spontaneity for your benefit!

This is one of the things that most puts me off drugs. A character in a Kingsley Amis novel makes the point that one of the few absolutely certain advantages of sanity is recognising what is funny and what isn't.
