Getting Herpes From Kissing?

12 posts in this topic

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the escort scene and have never punted before. I'm up for it but the main thing I keep worrying about which stops me from going through with making a booking is that I'm scared of herpes. By the sounds of it other STIs I can either avoid by using protection or are curable. But herpes scares me since it's for life (I'm 22) and you can get it even if you use protection! I'm especially worried about the oral version, and don't really like the idea of sex without kissing.

At the moment I'm pretty sure I don't have it or any other sti... I've only ever slept with one girl and that was over a year ago.

My question is, do any of you punters have either form of herpes? And if any escorts read this, do you? How likely would I be to catch it?

Also, would it be rude to ask a WG by email on the purple site if she has herpes?

Thanks, and I'm glad this forum exists!

In a word, YES.

Uh oh... I recently asked someone on 'the purple site' essentially that question as politely and apologetically as possible, I feel bad now :s

But I've been having a hard time finding information so I couldn't think of anything else to do!

It's not unheard of for WGs to get something in writing from the GUM clinic to show they've been tested recently and are clean. I'm sure any girl who has gone to this length to set their clients mind at ease would be happy to show you it. But just saying "hello do you have herpes?" is unlikely to make you any friends.

As to how likely you are to catch it, why not get yourself down to the GUM clinic or your GP and ask, you can get tested at the same time, that way you know what goes on and can be sure you get the right answer and know you haven't already got it :P

Christ! You don't ask someone if they have herpes!!! Oh my goodness!

What you want to ask her is if she gets cold sores. Cold sores are a sympton of herpes and if someone goes down on you whilst they have one, or have just had one and it's not fully gone and the virus is still present then you run the risk of the virus being passed on and contracting genital herpes. If you kiss someone with a cold sore, you also run the risk of catch it and being plagued with cold sores yourself for the foreseeable future.

Any WG worth her salt, won't even be working (if she gets them) during the period when they've flared up but I suppose if you're that worried the best option is to ask the girl politely if she ever suffers from cold sores. Or to ask the people on this site for recommendations on who to see - they're very helpful.

Oral herpes is endemic, with over half the population having by the age of 20. It can recur throughout life in the form of cold sores. But these can be effectivly treated by Zovirax. It is possible, whilst cold sores are present, to transmit the disease to another person by kissing. Oral sex could also cause its transmission so it results in genital herpes, but there seems to be disagreement as to how likely this is. The key to avoidance is not to make contact with a person's lips when they have cold sores.

How likely is one to catch herpes while there are no cold sores visible though?

Hi all,

On this note, what are the risks associated with hand relief? Is it possible to contract herpes via this route?

Oral herpes, giving cold sores, is mostly due to herpes simplex virus 1. Most of us are infected in childhood. It then goes to sleep in nerves, awakening (or not) periodically to given lesions on the lips, e.g. following stress or exposure to strong UV light. These then shed the virus, infecting others. I can't see why you are more likely to get it from kissing a WG than from kissing a girlfriend or your (infected in childhood) maiden aunt, should she kiss you on the lips with a developing, but not yet obvious, lesion.

Genital herpes, due to herpes simplex 2 is another question, but mostly gives genital, not oral lesions. There is no cross immunity between the two.

Do search previous threads; questions about this come up repeatedly.

To explorer: there is of course some risk to contracting herpses through kissing. When there are no sores, that risk is reduced significantly. You need to speak to a healthcare advisor at your GUM clinic to put things in perspective as appropriate to you. Then decide what you will allow yourself to do or not do.

To Parump; You already started another thread on HR related infections. You are very clearly and unneccessarily highly anxious, and you are not alone in the level of anxiety you feel. The only people who can set your mind at rest are healthcare advisors at the GUM clinic. I would urge you NOT to browse the internet - there are lots of inaccuracies, and many websites do not put things into context. Make an appointment to visit an advisor.

Do YOU have it, fairly certain is not certain! You could quite easily be asking when in fact you are the one who could be carrying...get checked before you embark on your punting life.
