Hepatitis B Vaccinations

13 posts in this topic

Hi

I haven't seen much mentioned on here about the Hep B vaccinations, and just wondering if WG's/punters have gone for them? Though the infection rates in the UK aren't very high, it is 100 times more infectious than HIV, it takes 8 months to get the vaccinations, after the first one, you have another a month later, and then another 6 months later, and then get tested to see that they have worked, which is what I am waiting for now. Just interested to hear others views on this?

I was offered it when I first went to the GU clinic and having done my research took up the offer (or maybe I went in there and asked, can't quite recall which way round it went TBH).

The minute I mentioned that I had seen an escort and planned on seeing more, my GUM clinic offered the jabs to me. I accepted. I couldn't imagine why anyone wouldn't.

Definitely worth having, cant see any reason why you wouldn't, especially as you can get it free

There is a poll/thread just a little bit further down the page which has a bit about it:

Everyone should get the Hep B jabs, not just wg,s and punters. You can catch it in a variety of ways and I know someone who knows someone who caught it from when they had a toilet cleaning job.

Hep B vaccination is usually recommended for anyone who is going to be exposed to bodily fluids! I've had the vaccination course myself and have immunity checked each time I visit the GUM clinic.

That pretty much means anyone with a sex life then I guess. I dont know why this is not made into one of the inoculations the government push for everyone to have.

I have had mine, you can never be too careful and if someone is offering it for free take it, I had mine in NZ but had to pay for them.

Three jabs, the second a month later and if memory serves correct the last one was 6 months after that.

Doh! Thanks for pointing that out Pia, I don't know how I didn't see that one, and I did look for a Hep B thread! Really glad have just got my results and am totally immune, it really is good to know.

If you're in the industry too, you should get a booster 5 years later. They test the level of immunity too.

I think everyone should be offered them personally!

I have been having mine. Had 3 jabs within the space of a month and a half. Have the next one exactly one year after the first jab in september 2012. So 4 jabs in all. Worth having it and it is free. You can say anything to make them offer it to you for free. Just say you think you may have been exposed to the virus by previous partners.
