When Punting Dictates Your Working Schedule

16 posts in this topic

Let me set the scene. A number of years ago when I was in my punting prime (i.e. seeing a variety of different ladies as oppossed to the one or two regulars I see now) I was employed as a Sales Manager. I covered most of the country and sold a very succesful and popular product. At the beginning of each month I used to do my research on a well known Escort Listing site, select ladies from various parts of the country who I wished to meet and make forward appointments accordingly. Once I had sorted out appointments with the ladies I then went through my sales prospects and set up appointments with customers to fit in with whatever part of the country the escorts happened to be.

In other words punting was dictating my plans for the working month.

When I look back I guess it was shameful really but business was very good and I had a highly regarded product to sell so was able to get away with it. Indeed, it was commission from the sales that funded my escorting hobby!

I was wondering if there are other punters out there who also structure their working week around punting as oppossed to the other way around.

I am not clear why you think it was shameful, if business was good then you were selling and thus doing what you were paid for.

Before i retired i planned my punting around my work, usually punting between 11am and 3pm, my priority was a fun punt with a good WG, work took a back seat but as i was the boss i had no one to say anything to me about it. When i was working for an employer i simply skived off for a punt making various excuses and never got caught out. :)

I often plan punting around business and plan business around punting. It's the only enjoyment I get as business is boring at the moment.

I have invented meetings into my diary and found the most daft reasons to go to certain areas or attend other people's meetings mainly to punt with a specific person.

Currently looking for a reason to visit Rugby & Manchester!

Answers on a postcard please.

I used to book punts around my work location. Didn't have the opportunity to do it the other way round but was able to travel all over Europe and the Middle East so had plenty of variety.

See escorts only irregulatly now but when I do, and as I'm the boss, I just take the afternoon off. Mind you I tend to spend a lot of the work week reseaching at my desk as well!

Dont feel at all guilty or worried about this. I work long hours and produce more than my board expects.

The 'shameful' part was a little tongue in cheek, Smiths. As they say, you should 'work to live' not 'live to work'. I think we both agree on that one.

Fair enough, we certainly agree on that motto. :)

I don't need to totally plan my working week around punting, but if one looks at my diary, I tend to have appointments the same 2 days a week in the same area virtually every week. Fortunatley, I have a lot of clients in those areas, but the good news is they are where my regs are and on the days they are working!

Can you be sure that the thought police at your place of employment don't keep an eye on your surfing habits?

Recognize the planning..

Have several locations I really look forward to visiting.

I wont admit that the punting is the main reason for going someplace.

But things like stopovers and certain flight/train-plans are somewhat affected by the presence of Regulars.

I don't think I've ever gone as far as visiting a customer purely because there was a WG in the location, but it has certainly been an incentive on occasions to make a long journey that probably wasn't justified solely by the probable outcome of the business appointment.

In one of my older jobs I would book dates to visit clients and sites based on the availability of a lady I wanted to see. Then sometimes I'd claim to be going to see a client (but not really), just going up north to see a popular girl and having the hotel and petrol mileage paid for by my company. I'm sure there are enough punters on the road that have worked this out.

I work in IT doing deployments and often work away. There are a few guys who do the same role and work is normally divided up based upon location and availability.

I have earned a reputation for flexibility from being willing to work at locations some way away from where I live. Little do my employers know that this is mostly based around proximity to WG's or establishments. If work comes up in Manchester or MK I am always up for it. When I get requests for other locations a quick bit of research on PN and ** dictates whether I will volunteer.

The nature of the job means that alot of work must be done in the evenings allowing me to punt during the day.

It can be fun as I get to see a variety of girls. The main downside is that sometimes I discover a great girl who I would like to see again but the work is complete so finding an excuse to return can be tricky. The customer who took me to her vicinity tends to receive great followup service!

I changed jobs a few years back and one of the key reasons that made me do it was to allow coverage of a different part of the country. I had pretty much ticked all the boxes I wanted to tick in 3 years and needed a newer hunting ground.

At least once a week I look at the outlook calender for next week and the week after and run it against my personal 'to do' list to see if there is any alignment.

Some people visit museums or shops, I dont :)
