Better Quality Condoms = Better Punt

20 posts in this topic

I noticed in the shops a while back that there were now improved condoms on the market. So I bought a packet, christmas it made such a lot of difference, even bonking the misis has improved dramatically.

I used the Mates ultrathin, I tried the Durex, but they did not seam as good. Not only are these condoms thinner but they also fit more snugly on your cock.

I usually find that working ladies have the extra strong DUNLOP Heavy duties extra large size, and they are crap compared with the new ones. I understand why they may want heavy duties, and I know that there is a oriental gentleman who makes a good living delivering them by the box load, but they are not so good for the punter.

I first got one of my regular girls to let me use them, she had not problem, and now I ask new girls as well, and surprisingly they have all so far said yes. Even for anal. Maybe I have very small dick, or perhaps a trustworthy face!!!

I wondered whether any-one else had discovered this 'thinner' condom phenomana and if there were any other recommendations? I see that Mates also have a more expensive 'REAL' condom, I wondered if that was any good,

Ladies, does condom quality make any difference to you? Do you let punters use their own?

Iant

I dont have any problems with the condoms WGs usually supply myself but always have my own in a sealed box in case theirs arent suitable. :)

I never had "oriental gentelmen" delivering condoms to me by the truck load.

I never purcahse my condoms from the likes of Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets of various Chemists. (Its still way to expencive, even when its half price, or BOGOF). Not that I ever get them free from the FPC.

Most of the time I get then from the net which works about £13 for 100 condoms with an expiry date which will keep me working till I am 57. Savers and Home Bargains shops are exellent for the variety of decent quality jonnies- Pasante Sensative, Mates King Size, and many other various kinds and reliable brands. The prices are not more then £2.99 for the box of 15.

I would not mind if the guy want to use his own, as long as as I can see the packet first. (can save me 12 pence at least lol). I did heard that some guys prick the packet with a needle, which is very difficult to detect, but I think its a myth.

I only use "heavy duties" if I think you require them!

Most of the time I have found Mates Natural to be the best all round condom however I also have some smaller and larger fit, as well as ribbed to hand. I have been trialling Mates Skyns which are supposed to feel closer to nothing, and am quite prepared to continue to pay the doubled price if they are preferrable. So far the feedback I have is "Not much different", "Didn't notice" and I actually find they smell more rubbery than the Naturals. Will continue in my research!

Personally I have always had trouble Cumming in condoms so I have experimented with different brands and types of condoms.

I found durex rubbish and a little unreliable

I found passant regular more comfortable but lacking in sensitivity

I found mate skyn by accident but glad I did. Since trying them my sex life has improved alot I won't be looking to try anything else. I can cum 10 / 10 times using them so I would suggest they are the ones to try.

Im new to all this and have come on here to pick up some tips before a first punt.

always wondered this - do you bring your own or is the etiquette that the WG provides them.

just to clarify is it ok to bring your own?

My advice is check with the WG but always take your own in case, its usual for the WG to provide condoms in my experience though. :)

Some of the comments on here about Mates Skyns making a difference intrigued me.

Lovehoney's customer reviews say the same thing...that they are thinner even than Crowns, which were apparently the thinnest available.

Having recently used the emergency condom from my wallet and ran out, I've taken this opportunity to buy some and try them out for myself.

I won't promise to report back on my findings. You might be waiting a while.

You're right it is a myth.

Condom packets are tightly sealed - so once pricked the vacuum releases and you have a squishy, airy pack, also leaky lube

Thanks guys and girls, very handy.

I have leant:

- Buying jonnies from the net is far cheaper, although the missus may be little shocked when a box of 100 arives on the doorstep!!!

- Escorts generally provide them (OK I knew that) but OK to bring your own.

- Mates Skins do appear to be better, even than 'Crowns' (which I have never heard of).

Off to order a box of a 100 Skyns from the net LOL

Excellent post.

Durex sell a wide range but many of their condoms have a history of marketing over quality. They are a litiginous company, threatening legal action over those who have tried to criticise them (such as Sexologist Tuppy Owens). They frequently fail to provide technically useful comparative data. Many in their range have economised on materials by making a shorter condom that can, of course, skip off more easily (as well as failing to cover the whole length of many a penis). Avanti are an exception and one of their genuinely superior products, a non-allergenic condom that is wide enough and long enough - but it does come with a hefty price tag. They are free from many Family Planning Clinics in Scotland but usually only if you plead your case for them.

Pasante appear to be an ethically responsible company with an excellent range of condoms, clearly packaged, and available in an excellent range of widths. This allows a man to find a width that fits him snugly and safely without being constructive. They are also widely available free across Scotland from FPCa and GUM clinics.

Mates Skyns are rapidly becoming a condom of choice for many discerning punters and WGs. Apart from superb characteristics in areas already mentioned, they don't have any nasty smell. They are extra thin and strong and many users, like myself, have found an increase in sensitivity. They are not cheap, but more reasonable if you shop around and buy a larger quantity at a time online.

Crown, and the Japanese condoms, have excellent sensitivity, made to very high standards, but tend to be rather tight for many men.

Most research shows that uncircumcised men will find this more of an issue as their penises tend to have greater sensitivity than those of circumcised men.

Just my tuppence.

Feedback from the guys I've used Skyns with is that they generally cannot tell the difference between those and my usual type, so I'm afraid I really do not understand this!I also find they actually do smell more rubbery than Mates Naturals (which are my usual choice). Perhaps I've bought counterfeits!

I honestly think you could have done Ruth :). I've been using Skyns for months and they don't smell of anything, least of all rubber (which they don't contain - I'm allergic to latex, although I like Mates Naturals too as they taste much nicer than the others). I have also tried Durex Real Feel (I don't like Durex, but thought I'd give them a chance as they were new and on offer), but like all the other Durex condoms I've tried they don't fit well and taste unutterably foul, so they went in the bin, sadly.

The Skyn's bulk packs are horribly expensive but Superdrug regularly have an offer where you can get two twelve packs for £9.99, so I've been stocking up then. I think it's on at the moment.

Ok, I've been getting mine from britishcondoms.co.uk and they've always been very reliable in the past.

Off to order a box of a 100 Skyns from the net LOL

Don't muddle your Skins and your Skyns. I discovered yesterday that there's a brand of condoms called "Skins" (presumably why Mates have named theirs (wrong) "Skyns").

I've got a history of not getting on very well with condoms.

Some seem incredibly tight and unelastic (if that's a word.. it probably isn't).

I don't think any men enjoy buying them in chemists, so I thought it was a godsend when Tesco started putting in self-service tills. There's two problems with this:

1. My Tesco (not all) put condoms in the plastic boxes like they do with razor blades, so you have to get an assistant to help you, making it impossible to buy them discreetly.

2. Tesco (and other supermarkets, and most chemists too for that matter) have a really, really poor selection.

Buying condoms should be something to be proud of, when you think about it, but for whatever reason I've never been able to get the frame of mind to go:

"Yes - in your face spotty 17yr old! You see these? I'm getting laid tonight! Oh yeah...come on! Bring on the sex."

Consequently, I've ended up buying (12 or so) only when I really have to, or when I'm with a girlfriend who has no embarrassment about buying such things. This is foolish. You end up buying whatever is available wherever you are (usually not what you want), and they're cheaper online. That's a side 'note to self' really - to remember to buy more BEFORE running out entirely.

Most places even do free delivery, and send them in a discreet jiffy bag. Get it together and plan in advance, Asianfever, for goodness sake.

Anyway, I tried out a few different ones (albeit a few years back).

From my experience, the only Durex one that was comfortable was Avanti, BUT they smell/feel a bit odd, and in my first pack (of, I think 5), one of them broke during sex. Never had that before, so it put me off them a bit.

Fetherlite - the ring seemed incredibly rigid/tight (and left a visible mark where it had been, for a few hours).

With the Pleasuremax ones ("for enhanced stimulation for you and your partner") I couldn't feel a thing. I'd say it sealed the fate of an already bad night away in Torquay.

Weirdly the Extra Safe ones have varied from "that's good" to "am I in?" according to the girl I'm with (and maybe my hardness, horniness, etc. too).

Trojans weren't bad (contrary to the media's belief, they do make them in a range of sizes - you don't have to have a cock the length of a garage door, to fit them), and some come with a lot of lube on them. Slightly thicker than the thin ones, but not as thick as the extra safe ones.

I think Russell Brand once said that he bought the Trojan XL ones, and had to send them to the tailors to have them taken in. I did try one once (was in a kinda condom variety pack thing). They're enormous. Too big for me.

Condomi. They were alright. Nothing special, but not terrible.

I stopped testing shortly after that because:

1. Sex had turned into a bit of a "well these are different... what would you give these out of 10, darling? Compared to the last ones, higher or lower?" affair.

2. I settled for Mates Naturals. This has been the most recent packet I've just finished. Quite good really. Smell isn't bad, fits quite well, heat transfer is nice. Nice to feel like you're with another human, not just poking your penis through a letterbox. Maybe letterbox isn't a good description. A bit big. No woman wants to be a letterbox, do they. Keyhole? No...not that tight.. umm.. somewhere between the two.

Not sure what you've got but they don't sound like the ones I've got. I can only speak for myself, but my feelings tally with others that have said they like them. My favourite before these was Avanti. Can't see me using anything other than Skyns for a while though - they're that good IMHO.

Of course there is a condom range called, confusingly, "Skins" (as opposed to "Skyns") - not connected.

I bought some 'Bare' off the net, I think they're a development of Avanti which I have a bad record with having had two break out of a packet of five. The Bare seem OK though, sensitive, non-latex, bigger than average. Never seen them on sale here though.

D.

I've not tried Bare. You fo have to be careful with Avanti as they have less stretch than latex condoms.
