Why Some Guys Can't Navigate A Simple Websites?

29 posts in this topic

This topic was provoked by this post from TheRodder : He was implying, that I did not updated my pictures for years.

I replied to it, that there are a links to the set of pictures which were posted in additional galleries every 4-6 months. He obviously picked on the wrong one, as I don't know many Wgs who update pictures as often as I do. (Apart of maybe, Adele ;-)).

I assume, if TheRodder could not find them, then there are a high possibility that other people could not also. I know it should not bother me so much: as I always thought if the guy did not had a look on my website properly, then its not a kind a client I should see.

However, I kind of changed my mind yesterday, as one of the clients Ive seen previously few times (very nice guy and all that) also mentioned that I should post new pictures on my website, because I come across that I don't bother with it: not new content, no blogs, not new photos, etc. He noticed that I don't change content much, but he still did not noticed the links to the updated galleries pages. When I mentioned it to him, he straight on to his laptop, to see them for a first time. (or so he said, and I believed him, looking on his reaction).

This is a guy who is quite IT and Net knowledgeable, but still only could see what is in a front of him.

So guys: When you see the same website time and time again, do you pay attention that some not so obscure content added, or just because its looks the same from your last visit on the first glance, you move on?

I read it in minute detail myself, i might forget certain things though between visits to it. :)

Lovely pics!

pretty clear to me it said new pics.. their loss. Maybe next time you update your photos, you should put them on your main page and then the older ones as links.

Xenia

When I was with an agency I had control over which pictures went onto my profile

because I insisted! I was the only lady in that agency who updated her pics every

3 months! I paid for my own photos and made sure the clients did not get bored

with the same pics so was constantly looking for new outfits etc for my new batch

It was a bit of a chore to be honest but I still did it.

Since being indie and having my own site I have settled into a once -a- year renewal

of my galleries. I leave the old ones on there so guys can see how I have changed in

7 years ( a client may not have seen me for a few years when he rebooks

so is entitled to see what I look like now )and also so they can see the huge range of

outfits I have. It has paid dividends!

Of course I want new clients to ogle at my photos and they are not retouched so not a perfect

woman but it is the person they meet when they come along to my place.

It is somewhat annoying though when guys phone me after looking at the pics and have not

read any other pages. I took time to construct my site and although I know there are quite a few

pages to read through it is my way of advertising and all I ask is that they take a few moments

to browse through it first.

Some do but some just can't be bothered it seems.

Reading websites is always a problem especially for those of us with a short attention span - what was I saying?

If it isn't in your face a lot of visitors will miss it.

I update every 3-6 months but still get guys asking, even just a few weeks after my last ones - when I'll be uploading some more photos. That does make me wonder if perhaps they prefer new photos to actually seeing me. If/when I explain I've just had some done, they'll often then ask if I have any more I can send them personally by email...........I select the best photos from each set to put up on the site.

My website pages don't fit within one screen length, as a result I have had chaps say they can't see my rates or other details - simply because they didn't realise they needed to use the scroll button. I once had to also explain how the menu bar works, and thus how to access all the different pages. I suppose I'm used to my own site so perhaps it really isn't obvious?Or perhaps some guys think it's fun to play dumb?

I really don't know.

Well I thought that I'd better force myself to have a quick look at your site, Xenia :)

The latest pics are great, and remind me of a 'gathering' in Brum a fair bit back. You really are a lass with the 'unchanging' gene!

If I'd been designing the 'Gallery' section I think that I would have grouped the list of galleries up the page under the main heading, with the 2011 ones at the top. I was looking for them because of the posts, but had to look twice.

Cyberhugggs, btw.

A friend of mine met a porn web owner at a convention. She designed web site and was currently unemployed. It was post one of the many IT bubble collapses. She offered to redesign his site. He agreed and then warned her. "My clients have one brain cell, one hand wrapped around their gland and only use one finger of the other." She sid it was the hardest thing she ever did.

So, we mere cyber browsers are a sad lot and need much forgiveness.

Your site Xenia remind me of the old proverb, "Across the river is a boy with a bum like the moon, but alas I have no boat" You are too far away to compare the living you with your pictures. Sigh

Actually ergonomics (The science of human-machine interaction) is quite a subtle subject and it is possible to specialise in at the MSc level even after completing a BSc in Computer Science or Studies.

Xenia in the case of your Gallery I suggest a few modifications.

Make the Gallery link to your latest photo Gallery first, and place the rest is reverse order.

Move the links "Archive 1" / "Archive 2" / etc links from the bottom of that page to near the top.

Rename the "Archive" links something like "Spring 2011 Gallery", etc.

Hi Xenia

With apologies to those that do take the time to look over a website properly and take in the information. I think the layout of a website has to be childishly simple for men.

Men are grown up boys. They run in all excited grabbing at this and that dropping things when they see something shinier, Men really do have a very short attention span and unless they're led by the hand and shown things - rather like Mummy or Teacher used to do then they can't be trusted to find their way around on a website.

What lady hasn't had the call...Yes I've looked at your website...now how much, what is, where are, ...all on the website of course!.

Subtlety isn't something most of the men of the world understand. They are lazy browsers and like to follow the easiest path.

Having had a perv through your pics Xenia, I'd say you should make the ones on the right hand side of your home page, whatever your most recent pics are.

That way, even the laziest of men will see straight away when you change your pictures.

Also, a bit odd that gallery 1, 2 and 3 have uniform page layouts. Archives is slightly different but similar.

But the new 2011 pics page opens in a new window for some reason, with a different layout/no menu down left, etc.

Also, if you're browsing and click gallery 2 or gallery 3, the link to the 2011 pics disappears. At very least, I think that 2011 link needs to be visible from all the other galleries.

I haven't actually checked it out but one person's easy website may be another's nightmare fo many reasons, not least feminine logic versus masculine logic.

Not just men, not just escorting sites, and not even just websites.

Most of us skim most things and look for a quick summary.

If you want to draw attention to new pics, you have to first draw attention to the front page in some way. If people see the same front page, it won't cry out 'something's changed' as much as a different front page will.

Got trapped in your comprehensive galleries - all very enjoyable but to escape I ended up closing down my browser and starting again from scratch - so I'd agree with the suggestions above re gallery ergonomics. Elsewhere, your incall fees appear as a footnote referring the prospective punter to read something on another page. Unless you are deliberately downplaying incalls (?), this crucial information could better all be on one page, with equal prominence to the outcall table. A little blog section on a main page is good for announcements and drawing attention to changes/new information e.g tour dates/new photos. If you can be bothered to keep it up to date.

men are like that (only see what is in front ...).

But was it you who showed me once how to look "next to" the obvious content of web page to see what else was there ?

I must admit to being lazy changing most of my website and posting on directorys - what I find useful and a great way of updating my site is posting a recent (as in that day or week) photo on my blog page, I am aware not everyone reads my blog...therefore I need to find a place to advertise it, any ideas greatly appreciated.. Last Friday had a gr8 shoot with good quality photos and he paid me :-) RESULT

Xenia I read that ridiculous comment by the guy on that thread so I had a look at your website, you look gorgeous so you will have I think to excuse some guys for clicking on then loosing all brain function other than to remember your name next time they are looking for a hot mama with huge bazookas to book....I think sometimes guys go a little crosseyed when the blood from their brains enters another region of their bodies ;) xxx

So the perfect escorting website would have all info on one page in bold capitals as this is the only way they would pop out of the page beside a picture ?x

I just viewed the website in question. First thing I noticed was when coming from google, the landing page has a great big hole in the middle. Maybe this is intentional for discretion, but if not I'd have thought having a simple photo displayed on landing would be good.

Some of the gallery thumbs listed on the sides of the landing page look positively ancient. That's probably more to do with the poor quality of the images than how old they are. But I can see why people think you haven't updated your pictures for years.

There are some good quality images in your galleries, yet for some reason you've chosen to put some pretty poor quality ones in your landing gallery.

Also, as said above, your incall info should be given as much prominence on your fees page as you outcall info, instead of being just a footnote.

From a guys point of view.......

Putting up new photos (even if its only once a year) keeps me intrested.

Its nice to know that a website is well looked after and that a lady has bothered to update her photos.

I've changed main galleries, since my original post. I also removed all additional galleries which I was posting during the years, and put some of the pictures on one page. (left 30 out of 111) I've already had an email, asking me why I removed certain photos, lol

D123 was right above in his post: I don't want to display incalls as a prominent feature, as I prefer evening outcalls, plus its not easy for me to take incalls, as I need to take time off work to be able to do them. (and I can't take time off work more then one maximum 2 times per week). I'cant provide incalls after 3pm either.

I still have not finished with my galleries yet, will try to complete it by the end of the next week. Will reply to others later.
