Woman Is Sentenced For Running A Brothel

3 posts in this topic

"A woman who ran a brothel has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Kelly Garner (39), of Burder Street, Loughborough, was the owner of Lady K's massage parlour in Abbey Street, Leicester.

She was arrested in February last year after undercover police officers made inquiries at the brothel by phone and in person and were offered a range of sexual services for cash.

At Leicester Crown Court, Garner was given a one-month jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, after admitting running the brothel.

The court heard that she had no role in the day-to-day management of the establishment.

Adrian Harris, defending, said Garner's mother had previously owned the brothel but it had been closed as a result of action by police and the mother had been prosecuted.

After the prosecution, her mother asked Garner to have her name on the brothel's paperwork, to reduce suspicion."

No real surprises there. Low level involvement + Guilty Plea + No Coercion = Short suspended sentence.

Still it's good to see that (unlike Surrey Police) Leicestershire Police trust their officers to act as test purchase officers. [sashaB's post regarding Sheila Farmer refers].

Pretty stupid though to take the lease in her own name after her mother had already been prosecuted for keeping the same brothel.
