No Shows.

5 posts in this topic

This is a question for the ladies. A lady I know went Indie last year and it is going fairly well. The major problem she has is no shows. Sometimes 2 or 3 one hour sessions in a day do not happen and that is after she has turned away Regulars for those times. I have told her that it may well be her former employers who are getting punters to do make these non existant bookings and that she should make a note of the phone numbers and compile a list of the dodgy phone numbers. So the question is- should she just accept bookings from regulars or do the ladies have a system for weeding out the new punters who are not likely to show by requesting a call back or some other system. If you don't take on new business how do you get regulars?

You can't not take on new clients in order to avoid time wasters. But after a while, she'll get the sense of when she'd dealing with a tyre kicker. Each lady develops her own system really. Even regulars can pull a no-show once in a while.

Agreed.

*waves to Pru* :D

Everyone has no shows and there's very little you can do about it except -

- if the booking has been made a couple of days beforehand, ask him to call again on the morning of the appointment to confirm

- check his feedback on t'other site

- learn ( as Pru says ) with time how to weed out the eegits at an early stage ie. those who want a long in depth discussion

about your services, those who text incessantly with nonsensical rubbish, those who ask for pictures by phone or worse,

send you a picture of their proud manhood, those who try to push boundaries before they even get there, such as -

"if we get on really well, do you fancy a night out " ?

That sort of thing.

No system is foolproof and the most frustrating part about no shows is that maybe the reason is entirely genuine,

we'll never know.

And yes, she needs to log the no-shows into her phone so they will come up if they try and call again. Generally I found that most no-shows came from withheld numbers which is why I swiftly started ignoring withhelds, so if she is getting as much as 2-3 no-shows a day from people calling from a number that seems way too much and could indicate something not quite right.

And like Laura and Pru said - you get a feel after a while if somebody is going to mess you around but it will never be a 100% foolproof.

She may be still encountering the twat element out there who like to book up who they consider to be the easy target new girl on the block. You tend to encounter them when you join ** as you can be notified of new members and to then fake book them is some guys favourite game on there, or local competition. Your friend needs to ensure that they guys confirm on the morning of the booking by a certain time and draw a strict line across at that time, say 10am for example, if they have not confirmed by then they get booked over, no faffing around. She will of course have to notify guys of this when they make the booking for it to work fairly.

As others have said, dont take bookings from a withheld number, log no shows in her phone but also log the guys who turn up so next time she gets that number calling she knows he is a trusted client. She will learn to recognise the voices and requests of persistant sim card changers and fake bookers as once they have caught you they tend to try again.
