Define "sexual partner"

14 posts in this topic

I was doing a questionaire/survey type thing yesturday, and one of the questions was "how many sexual partners" have you had. I have had some encounters where we didnt have penetrative sex, but did nearly everything else so wasnt sure if they should or shouldnt be counted.

Well, I guess this really depends on what you classify as a sexual partner.

Full sex (obviously)

Oral only - ?

Mutual Masturbation - ?

Anything involving orgasm - ?

Naked passionate kissing - ?

Where do you draw the line on the scale?

In my personal life id class it as anyone id had penetrative sex with.

In my working life, itd be any/all of the above.

Dont know why its different but it is

I couldnt begin even begin to quantify let alone categorise

Weirdly when I think of sexual partners I still only think of the ones I played with privately... all my clients were work, they chose me thus in my mind not partners... by simply sex. Ask me how many people I've had sex with and you'd get the bigger answer... or Gawd knows !

Sexual partner to me still is full sex.

Haha ditto Miss X :)

The clue is in the word "sexual" and all of the activities mentioned are sexual.

And Lilly, you choose to perform the services you provide which are sexual. So to all intents and purposes, your clients are your sexual partners during the provision of those sexual services.

'I couldve written that' - very true Miss X !

I chose what services I offered, I chose when and with whom I'd do them with...

But I didn't choose the person, therefore they were not a person nor a partner to me, but a plaything... and therefore ... sex

I liked sex with playthings as it was 'for the moment'... nothing like sex with a partner which means a whole load more

The word 'partner' is alien to me when used in any way to describe escorting sex

As a man, can you see a difference ?

I am a man...and i can see that point :)

But..the question said "How many sexual partners", NOT, "How many sexual partners that actually meant something"!! :D

The simplest answer would be "Mind your own bloody business"!!!! :)

Where do we stand as punters??? I've had many many paid for encounters....and the vast majority of them meant more to me than sex with the ex-wife!! LOL!!

I'd say a sexual partner is anyone you engage in sexual acts with. Mutual masturbation, oral sex, full sex, anal, even just a facial or something like that. Naked kissing is borderline but it's still very, very sexual.

I'm afraid that the answer is really pretty quickly available!

Sexual Offences Act 2003

78 "Sexual"

For the purposes of this Part (except section 71), penetration, touching or any

other activity is sexual if a reasonable person would consider that

Exactly my point. And I also think the question is intended to elicit the number of persons with whom you engage in sexual activity - not some lesser subset of persons with whom you are or have been in a loving or emotional relationship. If you engage in sexual activity with a person, they are for the purposes of that activity your sexual partner.

Well i suppose thats why the OP asked the question.

To see what people classed as a sexual partner, where does everyone draw the line.

Obviously people draw it in different places?

Its an interesting question

Depends on the reason they are asking. The only time I've had to answer a questionaire about number of sexual partners has been at the GUM clinic, where what they are interested in is the number of people you've done stuff with that could lead to disease transmission. So in that context I'd count just fucking & sucking.
