York Scam

72 posts in this topic

I remember someone posting this a while back an FR about a girl that scammed in York, Jessica of York, boyfriend turning up with a pit-bull, I did a search but could not find the relevant thread........

Here is the original FR http://www.punternet.com/frs/fr_view.php?recnum=106343

For those interested the brave clients concerned (northern_soul?) reported them and here is the outcome:

PCSO should be sacked for falsely claiming the existence of an offence of "looking for sex"

Brave citizens. Even mumsnet might support those who stand up to crime if the issue is explained clearly.

I applaud these guys for getting involved, we will see if they are actually found guilty of all or some of these charges, if so i hope a very long prison sentence is passed.

Well done on the guys for reporting this. This sort of behaviour gives a bad name to WGs and Service Providers assuming they are guilty (not saying they aren't but we are supposed to treat everyone as innocent until proven otherwise - but it looks pretty obvious what's happened).

It's also about time PCSOs and some police officers were trained in the Paid for Sex laws too. Amazing some still are not aware what the law is.

"One of the men, identified in court only as Mr Brown, accidentally left his Blackberry phone at the scene, and Mason then threatened to send photos of Mr Brown with Akers to all his work contacts, unless he handed over £5,000 in a supermarket car park......"

Another good reason not to use your work phone for punting.

Or to at least password it, as should all devices containing personal information.

I am the guy that left the field report. I'm not involved in the trial, but I do know more than has been reported so far. I'm not going to say anything else about it on here yet.

I have a huge amount of respect for the guys who are testifying and going one stage further than I did.

It sounds like I got away lightly compared to these other men. As I said in the fr I had seen Jess on multiple times previously and she had told me a bit about her past and shown me evidence to back it up. I am very worried that something terrible has happened to her to change her into what she is now. The male defendant sounds like a monster and I hope that he gets what is coming to him.

I really do hoe that the jury see this fairly and that any views they have on escorts, punters and the sex industry does not cloud their judgement.

As this is an ongoing trial, can I request that posters refrain from the mention of previous offences ?

Thanks. :)

Why? They are a matter of public record.

It is a legal matter - the accused is tried on the facts of the present case, not on what they have done before

Previous convictions are not referred to except in unusual circumstances until after the verdict

They are considered for sentencing at that point

Reporting or mention of them may result in a mis-trial,acquital of the accused, and a charge of contempt for the reporter

They've both been found guilty and the judge has told them that they're both facing a prison sentence. Sentencing on 27th April.

"A call girl and her killer boyfriend have been told they are heading to jail after blackmailing clients.

Escort Emily Anne Akers, 23, and unemployed Carl Mason, 31, lured men to a house in Heworth in York before taking money from them and forcing them to leave without the sex they had paid for.

Akers and Mason, both formerly of Millgarth House in Harcourt Street, Heworth, were each convicted of conspiracy to steal and blackmail at York Crown Court yesterday and a judge warned them they are facing prison sentences.

Today The Press can reveal that Mason, who was also found guilty of two counts of battery, has a previous conviction for manslaughter as he was part of a gang that kicked and stamped York father-of-four Mick Brolly as he lay on the ground in Low Ousegate in September, 2001.

Mason’s four-year jail term for the crime was previously kept under wraps to prevent the jury in his latest conviction being prejudiced.

The five-day blackmailing trial heard that Akers had advertised herself as Jessica of York and placed her phone number on a website alongside the message “I just love sex – £140”.

One of the couple’s victims – identified in court only as Mr Brown – had already paid £160 for sex with Akers last September when Mason ordered him out of the house.

The man left his Blackberry device behind and the couple used it to contact him at a London hotel and blackmail him by threatening to send pictures of him with Akers to people he knew.

Mr Brown was told to hand over the £5,000 the pair demanded in a supermarket car park, but their target informed police and Mason was arrested while on the phone to him.

Ten days earlier, another client had been undressing when Mason suddenly leapt into view from a hiding-place wearing a balaclava and with a pitbull-type dog at his side. Mason attacked him and forced him out of the house.

The court heard the man had then banged on the couple’s door in anger, only for Mason to come out of the house waving a golf club and with the dog on a lead. Akers sprayed him with a red substance which led to him developing a rash

The 12-strong jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict yesterday morning to all charges Akers and Mason faced.

Akers, in a black and white dress and black blazer, bowed her head and wept as the foreman announced the verdict.

Recorder Andrew Haslam told Akers, who was granted bail, and Mason, who was remanded in custody, that they would both be jailed when they were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on April 27.

He said: “I have at the forefront of my mind an immediate custodial sentence for both of you and for a significant period.”

Following their arrests, Akers and Mason had told police the payments made to her were merely for companionship, but the two men had wanted more and Mason had stepped in to protect his girlfriend."

Thanks for this. So in her case Akers got bail, what is this country coming to, utter convicted scum yet free to walk the streets. The comment by the recorder made me chuckle, at the forefront of his mind is giving them an "immediate" custodial sentence, on the 27th April, so immediate in his thinking is nearly 7 weeks in the future. I hope the sentences passed will be very harsh indeed.

Sit down, calm down, and take a swig of Fanta!

Are you standing for parliament for the National Front?

Human rights really are important. The Bail Act 1976 establishes a presumption of being bailed unless certain criteria are made out. In this case the male is obviously a bad egg (not among the statutory criteria) but given his mouthpiece has advised him that he's looking at a considerable time inside, he might very well do a runner. The female was likely led astray by him and his dog, and probably has a child who she needs to make arrangements for, and she hasn't got previous, so her sentence will be a lot shorter.

"Immediate" in respect to a custodial sentence means "not suspended" or, to make it simple, really locked up!

Where we might, perhaps, agree, is that hizzoner's sentence will be halved by the cash-strapped Min of Just, and he'll probably be let out on licence even before that.

I find your National Front comment to be in very poor taste, i adhor them and the BNP, thats got absolutely nothing to do with what i posted in reality.

She was also convicted so i dont agree with her getting bail, thats my opinion. Thanks for the explanation about immediate, again in my view it shouldnt work like this and such people should be sentenced on the day or kept in custody till they are sentenced, but i appreciate of course what i want to see is neither here nor there to how it works in reality.

Lets calm down and get back on topic before this thread reaches the conclusion of Godwin's law.

I'm just glad that they have been found guilty and will go away. This man is very dangerous and it still worries me know when I think about the situation i was in. I am worried about Emily/Jess, when I fist knew her she seemed like a such a nice genuine girl. The only escort I've ever met socially (non professionally). I know that her start in escorting and sex work wasn't the best. I hope that her past hasn't caught up with her and she can get her life back in order once she has served her time. Sadly, I somehow doubt this.

yorkescortguy - I think you sound really sweet and its nice that you are genuinely concerned but I would put it out of my mind if I were you.

There are those who can't and don't want to be helped.

As an escort who can command the fees we do there is little to stop a girl making a few quid and doing a bunk within a week if things were that bad. The police domestic violence units are in fact very helpful in getting girls who want to be out of situations out of them. A thankless task as a high percentage just go back. Some people can be liars and thieves - others just wouldn't no matter what.

I hope that she can pull herself back to decency further to this conviction and take the opportunity to get away from this guy while he is locked up.

Despite the judge's comments, I think the lady will get a suspended sentence. How often, at this stage of a case does a judge issue threats of immediate confinement only to impose a suspended sentence when it comes down to it.

Sentencing has been deferred, presumably, for reports to be prepared. When the judge sees those, and counsel for the defence makes his impassioned plea citing her past unfortunate life history as mentioned by Yorkescortguy :

I know that her start in escorting and sex work wasn't the best. I hope that her past hasn't caught up with her and she can get her life back in order.......

and pleads for clemency on the basis she was coerced into this activity by a thug that she lived in fear of, my money is on the suspended sentence, giving her the chance to get her life back on track. After all, she appears, unlike him, to have no previous. And, who knows, that might be the right course of action.

Indeed it might well be! Contrary to the views of the Sun and of most politicians of all colours, the "right" sentence is the minimum that will fit that crime committed by that person.

Whatever the sentence, I think that she'll be back on the purple site sooner or later. Even if she does manage to disassociate herself from Mason, I suspect that she'll end up with a new boyfriend of similar character. Sadly that's very often the case. I imagine also that there's a fair probability that drugs are involved, which isn't going to help.

In the event that she does reappear on the other site I hope that someone warns the forum members because I very much doubt that she'll have been rehabilitated.
