GARY ZZZ

Am I Right To Expect At Least A 'thank You'?

13 posts in this topic

I posted some information on the now defunct FSBM board and very soon received 4 PMs - all of which I replied to quickly.

Is it just not common courtesy to at least say 'thanks' when someone takes the time to reply?

Of the 4 PMs I replied to, I only got one acknowledgement.

Come on everyone, let's show some manners......

It happens, once responded to a topic about hotels, was pm'd, to which i pm'd as much info as possible.

A few days later was thanked by pm about the mentioned hotel, i then asked about the girl, No Response.

Manners maketh the man and woman.

I totally agree with your comments.

I get mails off other wgs asking for all sorts of help with stuff.

I take the time and trouble to respond in a full and detailed manner, and what would happen?

They read it and not even the briefest of thank you message back from the majority of them.

Oh well....

Lucy :)

I agree Manners cost nothing I would always say thank you

and please but a lot of people do not have any manners which is rude in my book.

I'm beginning to find it's not just the younger generation that doesn't have manners. As a child my mum would always say "whats the magic word", "what do you say" or "watch your P's and Q's". It's not that hard to instil manners at an early age. People don't forget how to count or write, so if you were taught manners as a child, why do most people seem to forget them? It's like the Green Cross Code. Nobody uses that anymore. The amount of people I see who just blindly walk across the road when there are cars coming, and they wonder why they're hit (but that's for another thread).

Quite often I'll reply to enquiries and receive no acknowledgement at all, some would say it's part and parcel of being a service provider fielding such contact!

Manners would be nice...they are rare though.

Out of all the calls i take on any given day, and the info I give out to those callers at least 50 per cent just hang up the phone the second I have finished talking, plain rude but what can you do. Huffy men unable to get a booking with the girl they want when they want are the worst offenders though, is it really my fault they left it to the last minute.

Yes it is common courtesy and in my experience most posters who PM me have excellent manners. There have been a small number over the years who have demanded information which is met with no response from me till they learn some manners.

Thanks 4 posting the above ......

I am getting really pissed off with some members who request this & that by PMs & never show the slightest courtesy of at least an acknowledgment ,never mind the Thank You 4 the info ,which they received ....

Hope the latest one who pmd me reads this post ........

I'm really surprised that guys that ask for info by PM can't spend 15 secs to say thank you. And... surely... if a rec results in a punt, it ought to be routine to let recommender know how things turned out.

Not quite as bad... but still puzzling to me... is people who start threads, get a load of helpful replies.... but can't bring themselves to contribute anything to thread they started, not even a quick "thanks" at the end.
