I assumed you didn't want a discussion about the English Civil War.

I'm not too fussed about whether my clients are circumcised or not, as long as they're clean.

I tend to have longer relationships - years as opposed to months, with circumcised men. I'm aware of the risks of circumcision, but if I ever have a son, he'll be circumcised.

I couldn't care less!

However, I do think circumcision is barbaric unless there is a genuine medical reason for it.

"but if I ever have a son, he'll be circumcised."

Lara, with the greatest respect as I enjoy many of your posts, should you make this decision for your son, should you have one? If he decides that he would prefer to be cut at a later date, at least the decision will be his.

Yes, as I understand it, parenting means making decisions for your children. I could not, in all conscience, decide to take a "let him decide at 18 approach", when that would exclude my son from his heritage, community & culture.

I don't believe circumcision of babies / children to be ethical, regardless of cultural beliefs, etc. In fact, it should be outright banned, unless there are very serious medical grounds for doing so.

I just don't see how mutilating your own child's body is seen as acceptable practice in this day and age.

I am circumcised, my kids are circumcised and I believe in male circumcision.

Excellent, a discussion on the ethics of circumcision. This should liven the forum up and get the blood circulating. Do we need to get the popcorn in? ;)

Out of interest, what is it exactly that you "believe in"?

I do believe it is different if you a either jew or moslim.

I'm all for cleanliness but I don't believe that's a problem unless the male is wanting in general matters of hygiene.

Thus, the way I see it, a child ought to be protected by law against having an irreversible, unnecessary operation done to him when he was too young to argue.

Indeed, in these enlightened times, if an equivalent op was attempted on a female child I can only imagine the uproar.

Still, it will continue to be done, no doubt about that - this world is far from being a level playing field.

This horrifying practise sadly does exist and there is uproar and activism against it: http://www.endfgm.eu/en/

In many parts of the world female circumcision(AKA female genital mutilation) is widespread. Even today the majority of women in some north and west african countries endure this, often at the hands of their maternal grandmother.

Men & women have very different genitals. Circumcised men don't have the same problems with sex, or childbirth that infibulated women do.

Many people argue that Judaism & Islam are sexist against women. Now it's being argued that both faiths are sexist against men for commanding that males - not females - are circumcised.

I know that the father of my children will be circumcised and my sons will be circumcised. They would be Socialised within my community to want to be circumcised, and would experience serious social exclusion if they weren't circumcised. I would not inflict that kind of harm upon any child. I have already researched which Dr is the best for circumcisions.

Yes, if they are lucky :)

There is a growing amount of men turning to foreskin restoration - if only they had been given the choice when they were adults.

I agree, full on female genital mutilation is different and not as severe, but would you be happy about a young female's clitoral hood being removed in the name of religious or aesthetic reasons?

One study puts the number of deaths due to circumcision complications at 117 during 2010 in America. A needless, pointless waste of life - and for what? http://www.circumstitions.com/death.html

And reading this just made me feel sick. How can these practises be allowed in 2012? http://abcnews.go.com/Health/baby-dies-herpes-virus-ritual-circumcision-nyc-orthodox/story?id=15888618#.T2yX89m25QI

And this is why I have such a problem with religion and the constraints of being brainwashed expected to live by cultural and social expectations...

But, I guess if people are happy with their choices then who am I to critisise? It just all seems dreadfully limiting.

Agree Lydia. The ritualistic side of religion, which excludes any freedom of thought or opinion (disguising it as "cultural") is particularly scary, and has led to so much conflict, hatred, etc.

Putting aside the ethical / religious / cultural arguments for a moment, some girls need to be taught that if it's a circumcised cock you are wanking you need to start with an UPSTROKE and not a DOWNSTOKE as you do with an uncircumcised cock...... OUCH !!

Yes, I was aware of some of what you have both referred to, but in my initial post I was thinking of the advanced western world generally, and the UK in particular. Sorry not to have made that clear.

However, I am delighted there is uproar at the practice (re:females), it is truly barbaric, a reminder that we are in many ways only a short stride away from our primeval past.

I wonder which feels the best from a male point of view?

I’m not circumcised but I think getting it chopped off to find out would be a step too far! I’m mean, what if I think its better with the old fella intact, ahhh!

Lol

Some people don't realise that the foreskin has many sensitive nerves that play an important part in terms of 'feeling' anything down there.

Hi

I am 67 years old and was circumcised as a child. At my ripe age i do have problems having an orgasm with intercourse, obviously a condom reduces sensitivity, but does having been circumcised reduce my sensitivity?

Would the ladies here please tell us their experience with their circumcised and their uncircumsised clients?

And indeed would other senior punters give their experiences.

Incidentally I did not have my son circumcised.

Cheers

Pierrebleu

I have more orgasms with circumcised cocks & the orgasms tend to be more intense.

The new Durex condoms: FeelCloser & Featherlight 30% thinner seem to be even more desensitising ironically.

I am more than happy to finish a circumcised man off orally.

I had it done for medical reasons as an adult.....before that I thought of it as both a barbaric and stupid thing to do...in terms of why the hell would we effectively 'mutilate' our own body and something that is natural and probably has an evolutionary reason for being present.

however due to my situation I had to consider it....wasnt a must but in hindsight it was the best thing Ive ever done....cured my medical issue and IMO sex has been better overall but the only downside is that with prolonged sex...its gets a bit more, er shall we say 'sore' down there!

This is not meant as a slight on non-circumcised men but one significant thing Ive noticed is that females whether wg's or civilians will give me OWO more often without even a thought...before it was a lot less even though I was always clean etc It led me to believe that some women if not many prefer circumcised or they think thats its automatically cleaner?god knows, only they do!

If you dont need it done, dont bother.thats all I can say because the recovery phase is not always smooth,il tell you that!!

Given your earlier post, Lara, I reckon you have an inbuilt aversion to the unmutilated, natural cock so your comment isn't especially valid. A bit like the blokes that get turned on by fake boobs, really.
