Are Men Really More Unfaithful Than Women?

27 posts in this topic

Here's a piece on the BBC website discussing whether men are more unfaithful than women:

<http://www.bbc.co.uk...gazine-18233843>

"The last Natsal study[1] found that about 4% of men had paid for sex in the past five years."

4%? Is that figure anywhere near accurate?

[1] National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles, University College London.

What the only way to be unfaithful is to pay?

Unless the men are in relationships and the women they are cheating with are single.

How do they know these stats are accurate. As i have read on here consistently over the years many punters on here keep their punting a complete secret so its informed guess work at best in my opinion, and all such surveys/studies i take with a huge pinch of salt.

As to your question my guess would be yes, more men want sex with no strings than women i think and are prepared to cheat to get it.

I'm not sure but the only proper survery I've heard of put the figure at around 70% for both sexes - asking had they cheated on a bf/gf in their lifetime.

What criteria did they use for their answers, if a guy sees another woman for an affair and it lasts 6 months, is it the same as a woman who works as an escort and sleeps with 200 men in the same time span,

might be fun to see if there is a genetic link between fathers and their kids. I have heard (from lord Winston) that 30% don't have a genetic link between fathers and their kids. either the women are cheating or there is a lot of immaculate conception occurring.

That's not cheating that's working. Unless the partner has no idea.

Those figures seem very modest given that some studies show the number of Husbands with cuckold children as high 1 in 10.

Strictly speaking, yes it is the same in terms of definition of a cheat. Both are cheating. A person is either a cheat or not. It's a black and white sort of thing. If you have sexual contact with a third party whilst in a relationship, then it's cheating.

Unless, of course, the third (or fourth/fifth/sixth/etc!) party contact is by agreement with the relationship partner, e.g. open relationships, swingers, etc. :)

I just know that men use escorts more than women do, and the majority of men I see are married.

I think monogamy is a very strange expectation which is not particularly natural and unlikely to work for a large part of society.. so many people cheat in whatever way and hope to get away with their dishonesty; it probably makes it more exciting too!

As for who cheats more... I know men are generally seen as the highest offenders but women are at it too; maybe women are just better at getting away with it?

I used to love watching my ex bf fuck another woman; or sucking his cock before he went off to meet one :)

Open relationships make the most sense to me, although I know they are not for everyone.

Men cheat because they want to spread their seed. I read an interesting piece some years ago that usually faithful women would have more tendencies to cheat when the egg releases, it is all about producing the best offspring.

Cheating is unthinkable to me, at this stage of my life, I couldn't go through with it and enjoy it, I had the opportunity while married young with a pretty smart girl and didn't go through with it. I would either end a relationship and start seeing someone else or stick with the relationship. If you can't help yourself cheating or screwing around, why not just have f buddies or open relationships, at that time? I am sensitive to other's feelings though, and know that lots of people aren't, and lots of people are selfish and there are lots of narcissists out there. It may sound like I'm judging but at the same time I realise people can't help it just as I can't help the way I am in other ways which aren't good (same way I feel whenever I have a go at anyone). There's also the fact we have a cobbled together mess of a brain with the primal drives such as sex drives and the part at the front tacked on moralising about them and inhibiting them. On the other hand I don't have a strong view where there's a couple and the mum/lady at some point loses sex drive and don't expect the man to go without and be happy, it's a little different there. I wonder if at that time I'll take some drugs to kill my sex drive or what (as mine is high and I've high test.)

There's a very interesting book called 'Sperm Wars' by Dr Robin Baker that basically goes through the biological reasons behind various sexual activity, including bisexuality, infidelity and even rape.

According to him, if a woman get pregnant while she's cheating on her husband, her body stacks the deck so that there's an 80% chance it's her lover's child she conceives rather than her husband's.

Because i wanted children in a couple relationship which i thought best for him. What others do is their business, i chose to shag around by punting mainly as much as i could as ever putting my selfish needs first.

in my op, paying for sex doesn't count too much as cheating. Also, women are just as bad as men from my experience. They are just more subtle and tactical at how they go about it.

Does your partner hold this same liberal view then jp1? If not, it's cheating, plain and simple.

Research shows that women only prefer the Alpha-male type when two conditions obtain:

1) they are already in a relationship

2) they are at a fertile point in their cycle.

I.e. the alpha male is attractive when you can use his sperm for a child, but can also palm the kid off as being your (more reliable) partner's. Best of both worlds.
