Cps Legal Guidance On The Law Of Prostitution & Related Matters In England & Wales

3 posts in this topic

CPS (the Crown Prosecution Service) who are responsible for the majority of prosecutions in England & Wales (NOT Scotland) publish the majority of their legal guidance to their own staff on their web site for the world and his dog to read. The section on Prostitution can be found here:

An awful lot of the legal questions posted here are answered there. It is reported that the Lord helps those who help themselves, and I guess that that goes even for us, down here.

It should be noted that the prosecution's view of the law is just that - they aren't always right, although they are paid enough that they usually are.

If anyone can get a couple of hours alone with a photocopier, and the Lord Advocate's "Book of Instructions to Procurators Fiscal", in Scotland, please get in contact! Although the criteria for withholding disclosure under Freedom of Information are very slightly tighter than in England, the Lord Advocate is determined to reveal nothing!

Mod! Could you please consider pinning this priceless prose?

The language used to talk about (and on behalf of, seemingly) sex workers is deeply infantilizing. Sigh.
