High Memory Usage

5 posts in this topic

I try and keep very little on my laptop, a few docs, some pics, the odd very short video-- yet I constantly get a little pop up on windows telling me there is very high memory usage !!

Is there a free/ cheap, easy way to clear off everything from the hard drive ? I would like to keep the few pics/vids that I have if at all possible . thanks

Which browser software do you use?Firefox which used to be recommended is supposedly very memory heavy now, Chrome is supposed to be better although I never sign in.

I use firefox and generally have 5 or 6 tabs running

AVG gives me a popup moaning about high memory usage.

i just ignore it

I do close firefox down regularly, and also close my computer down regularly.

Also i run ccleaner and eusing free register cleaner to clear rubbish.

not sure what else one can do?

At my last pc health check I was advised that Firefox uses a lot of memory, sure it used to be the recommended browser but apparently it's changed. They told me to use Google Chrome which is much lighter on the pc and so I have done.

I'm much relieved by this thread! I, too, keep getting the nosey little AVG warning about Firefox's memory usage, and I was concerned that, maybe, I'd picked up some deadly virus, but if it's just Firefox's "little way", then, hey, what's the problem? Memory is cheap!
