You mean the one saying 1 in 7 admit to paying sex with a prostitute and are shocked?

(I think they missed the point that maybe their dad, brother, son has very well seen a protitute.)

Or the link to this one?

Should it be illegal for men to pay for prostitution?

Should we criminalise all men who pay for prostitution, alongside help for women to leave prostituion?

LadySybildeChocolateFri 31-Aug-12 11:17:49

yes.

FactOfTheMatterFri 31-Aug-12 11:18:34

yes.

Yes, all men - even the ones who have disabilities or are unable to find a sexual partner for any reason. No one has a right to a sex life IMO.

The thing that gets my goat was LaurieFairyCake reply. Who decided that no one should have a right to a sex life??!? Why should no one have a right to be allowed to have sex with someone who is willing.to be their partner?

Why should someone who is disabled be denied the right to do something like have sex with someone who is comfortable to be with them?

Theres rights like right to vote and right to freedom of speech, but why is it bad to have a right to have a personal encounter with someone who is willing but paid?

I have a right to do things that are legal and without persecution from those whose dont agree.

At least the posts in the 3rd thread do have some honest postive comments.

And comments further on down means that not everyone agree with the OPs...

Beware - the cuddly word "Mum" is being used as camouflage for the fact that the posters are typical Daily Mail readers almost to a woman, and that if you went for a cup of coffee with them you would feel an almost irresistible urge to run away and throw up.

They're such a blinkered bunch of self righteous sad bags. Can't they see it's them who encourage their partners to play away? They're so dull, all they do is talk about babies and ironing most of the time, no wonder their husbands seek solace in escorts!

Am I the only one who sees mumsnet as some sort of, out of date 1940s womens meeting where they complain about "my pie didnt rise in the oven today", wandering around the house in a pinny and pushing a hoover.....

I read her comment in a whole different way to the way you read it.

I read it that she was taking the piss out of the original poster ......

Why not make masturbation illegal as well?

Your stereotyping of MN as a homogenous group is as offensive as their stereotyping of us. Daily Mail is not accurate

Mumsnet, bless em, gotta love em. They are so obsessed with this game because sub conciously they know their husbands are playing away but cant admit it to themselves or they were in this game once and are trying to show how "respectable" they really are, you know like when the people who give up smoking are the ones who bang on at smokers more than nonsmokers that they should quit. Either that or they are sill at it lol

And what about the working girls who are also genuine mumsnetters? There were about 10 of us at last count.

Every forum has it's protagonists, and it's right wing non doers who like to stir up the shit but do nothing of any consequence, and of course don't forget the trolls. Just like we have them here. You can't take everything you read seriously. I mean 'working girls who are genuine mumsnetters as a sentence coming from a troll Eh? What's that all about

Just looked on that thread and read this, and would say this is a fair comment.

"I don't think all men are equally likely to use prostitutes, there are many men who actually value reciprocity in sex and wouldn't turned on by the deviance, ease or power of paying for it."

Apart from the reciprocity bit which I feel is something lots of us ladies do offer willingly would anyone agree with the other part of the comment ?

I dont read that shit. I have no interest in what these people post myself. I do as suits me.

That's all very well but these bigots seem to have the ear of lawmakers and could convince them to make laws like the one being proposed in NI :(

I think there are one or two examples of sly humour in among the comments. I liked this one, for example:

"Yes there should be no payment for sex. The prostitutes should do it for free like the rest of us."

I can recall getting involved with a conversation about prostitution when having a long appointment at my hairdressers once, there were probably about six of us women chatting about it.

They all had the preconceived ideas that all prostitutes are the desperate types only, that resort to it to feed a habit, or are coerced in to it by men.

I put it to them that there are many women out there who do it for free will choice, and can make a very lucrative wage out of it and would not have to to down right disgusting acts either.

The talk was then about the Belle de Jour books etc.

I did say that they probably cut hair of some prostitutes who are their regular clients, and that they would not even know as they would be just like you and me.

They just laughed......

A lot, but not all, mumsnet members put forward a front is self righteous smugness which I suspect is a cover for paranoia and insecurity. They need to belong to a group that do think and say the sane things. Ever wonder why when a woman is pregnant she is "in the club" a very boring club at that. As has ready been pointed out most but not all "left" the marriage for the babies they have produced so as night follows day the men will seek other women including but not exclusively WGs

Wanted to post something but didn't trust myself - they have such blinkered views. I love that they all think we're being raped & there's no way we would agree to it x

i went on and asked that difficult question - "who's going to pay the bills of women povertised by moral supremacist groups" ? one poster said " the welfare state", -obviously never claimed benefit.

I tend to think it would be better being called 'BitterExWivesNet'.
