Belle De Jour Interview On Bbc Tv Thursday 11 October

8 posts in this topic

From the BBC web site at http://news.bbc.co.u...alk/9756960.stm where you can find a video clip from the interview:

As Belle de Jour, Dr Brooke Magnanti achieved global notoriety for years, writing a blog about her sexual encounters as a high-class escort girl working in London.

Now, after revealing herself to be an expert research scientist and no longer engaged in prostitution she is calling for prostitution to be decriminalised. She tells HARDtalk's Katya Adler she found the escort work empowering and would do it again.

You can watch the full interview on BBC World News on Thursday 11 October at 04:30, 09:30, 15:30 and 21:30 GMT and on the BBC News Channel on Monday 19 March at 04:30 GMT and Tuesday 20 March at 00:30 GMT.

I presume the 11October programme is a repeat of one shown on 19 March this year, although the way the times are expressed above is very odd.

I caught part of the programme this morning on BBC World Service. It will be repeated this evening at 8.05 pm. The programme is called Hardtalk. It should be available as a podcast soon http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/ht

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/9571873/Welcome-to-Wonder-Women-new-from-The-Telegraph.html

Its called Wonder Women, the sex part is covered by Brooke and Petra

Sex

The fabulous Belle de Jour, now known as Dr Brooke Magnanti, is covering all things sex for Wonder Women. Going back to her blogging roots – which made her name - enjoy Brooke’s first post about teenage sexting. OMG indeed.

Petra Boynton, a respected social psychologist, who researches sex and relationships, is The Telegraph Wonder Women’s agony aunt. Every week she will answer a reader’s query about sex and relationships. First up, what to do if you discover your friend is cheating on her husband.

One of the many things I admire about Brooke is her ability to remain calm no matter what is thrown at her.

+1 I always think she comes across so well whenever I see her interviewed, and also extremely dignified.

If you missed it you can download the podcast from here. The presenter seemed to do most of the talking and Dr Magnanti wasn't given much time to reply. It didn't seem very fair to me, but Dr Magnanti stood up to it very well. It's quite an interesting programme, it mentions a lot of the research about prostitution.
