No Witheld Numbers ? Curiosity!

33 posts in this topic

 I have always wandered why all these escorts especially on the other site and ace.mass site all say no witheld numbers? Is this for security reasons,or to inform a pimp that you did a no-show/not right money and have you duffed up or something?

It seems most people use "the pay as u go system" calling ,so no true trace of who you are ? So this no-witheld thing to me seems pointless really as it seems to be away of tieing your down to something??

Does anyone just use there contact phone with the "Who cares" attitude.... not bothered if can be traced by phone records etc.... curious!

Anyone wist to divalge!

Not sure what your point is. I think it's common courtesy to display your number in most cases and certainly don't have any qualms doing so with my contract phone when calling a WG. I don't blame ladies for having this rule at all.

Because it's useful to have a contact number in case you have to cancel or contact them about the appointment. There is a security element in case he turns out to be a nutter but mainly because in my experience withheld numbers tend to be from those who just want a free dirty phone call. It also gives me the feeling that the man isn't really serious about the booking if he won't give me a number.

I appreciate why a man may want to hide his number but the above reasons and plenty of experience with idiots in the past who have withheld their numbers and them pissed me about makes them not worth answering. Yes, I may miss a genuine lovely booking but it's still not worth the hassle to deal with the withholders! Occasionally I do answer them though and say that I won't speak with them unless they call back on a number I can see. Very occasionally they do, apologising for forgetting they have hidden their number but mostly I don't hear from them again.

Its for security, its probably the only bit of security that WGs have...

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. I have a tatty old phone I use for punting and that is fine. No way will I use my regular phone for punting.

Because it saves a right lot of old hassle. Withheld number callers tend to me more unreliable, plus confirming/giving directions/phoning to say you are early/late or whatever becomes a nightmare especially if the another withheld number calls at the same time(does happen withheld appointment holder is due, you answer a withheld thinking it's him and it isn't, or he's late and you have no way of checking up). It's also darned handy to be able to recognise the clients who have appointments with you when they call, so many times we get callers saying "Hi it's John don't you remember me?I'm the one with dark hair and blue eyes".

Then there's the guys who phone continuously asking the same questions for weeks, months, years even from withhelds. You say "Hmm sure you haven't phoned previously?", "Me?No never spoken to you before".

Having a phone number also gives us a shred of security.

You'd be surprised re the PAYG system, if the authorities really, really wanted to find you they probably could do - even withholding your number.

Activating the facility to block withheld numbers with my phone was one of the best things I ever did.

Many of the above reasons also apply to payphone numbers too.

Of course this is absolutely true. Having worked on the IT systems of several telcos I can confirm that their records (for billing as much as any other reason) hold for all calls the number dialed, the number of your phone, the IMEI no which actually identifies your handset, the mobile network cell you dialed from etc etc

But calling a WG or parlour is not illegal so why would it concern you?

Incidentally. I don't have a punting phone because I would find that difficult to explain away if found by my other half. Why do ppl do this?

As has been posted it provides a shred of security and can weed out some timewasting twats who do genuine punters no favours. I have a dedicated punting phone which i am happy to display my number to the SP by using. Being traced by the police isnt of concern to me as punting isnt illegal. I use a punting phone as thats convenient to me not to avoid the police.

If i make a booking i will turn up as agreed so i view that as a commitment to show myself. Obviously if i have been lied to i might walk in which case i ring my plan B option and then turn the phone off, i have had a few abusive texts over the years after walking but it doesnt happen often fortunately that i need to walk. I have also on ocassion received out of the blue texts and calls touting for my business so again having a punting phone is handy for me.

I think that there is the fear that the other half will pick up the "one" handset, and check what was the last number dialled, and possibly look at txt msgs. Try explaining "Its No 17, Flat 6. See you soon sexy!"

Understood and that's why I would delete such messages or calls, but could of course forget. However I couldn't think of a good reason to have another phone

Each to his own of course

You dont necessarily need another phone though of course, a tiny Sim card is an alternative if hiding a phone is a problem.

Almost every whack job that phones does so on a witheld number and believe me there are many many of them out there. When I first started I used to answer all calls, only to find that I'd have a barrage of nutters ringing up on a daily basis asking the most rediculous questions, wanking, being abusive etc etc... Wasn't long before I stopped answering witheld numbers and put a stop to that!...

Incidentally. I don't have a punting phone because I would find that difficult to explain away if found by my other half. Why do ppl do this?

For the last 9 years I've never had a punting phone, and never been worried, for a good reason. I had a very old simple phone which had a secret password-protected area called a "wallet" where I hid the numbers of all the places I used. It also had a very convenient filing system where any current sequence of messages could be hidden away where they would not be found by anybody but the FBI. :) So long as I was reasonably careful, I could leave it lying around without any fear of anything being discovered. I could even pass it to someone else to look up a phone number. I replaced the first one of these twice from eBay with exactly the same model, secondhand, because I couldn't find the same facilities on a modern phone.

Now I have given in and bought a smart phone so I can get t'Internet on the move. This phone makes everything you do completely visible to any passer-by, including a list of recent frequent calls. To maintain any security you'd need to keep it padlocked inside your briefcase (if they still exist?).

So I've now come to the conclusion I will need to keep my ancient phone as a purely punting phone as well.

As has been said, I like a number so if something happens I can call them or text also if they turn out to be a plonker i.e a no show, abusive, timewaster etc i like a number i can block. If someone calls you on a with-held you cannot do this so potentially they can call again and make another appointment. I know that if they are determined enough they can call using another number but its the only bit of security we have and certainly not because we are being pimped.

I used to accept calls from with-held numbers and then ask them to call back on a number that is not with-held, but i found through experience guys that ring on with-held tend to either make abusive/dirty phonecalls or never actually ring you back.

I can't see why a guy would want to with-hold his number unless he has something to hide...if trust is an issue for the punter, get another simcard you can discreetly hide somewhere and use that.

Just to add, I have a blocking application on my phone so it kills any calls from with-held numbers, they cannot go through to my phone, i can also set it to block numbers where the guy has been a timewaster or abusive etc.I also write it on my advertising no with-helds, no texts but still people do it lol.

Lets put it this way, if you order a pizza, they aways ask for a phone number don't they? Its for the same reasons, timewasters! You could query most businesses that operate this policy, its not just wg's.

Much much higher rate of no-shows and timewasters on with-held numbers.

For my sins I accept witheld numbers and the reason is simple. Some folks are nervous about calling a lady like me and don't want me to call back or anything else that might be going on in their over active imagination. I will take the call and then ask the guy to call back and display his number or I won't play. If they don't call back then they were not genuine. If they do, then we are all happy. I don't always take the calls though - depends entirely upon my mood that day :)

Occasionally I will answer a withheld number but there really is no point. If they can get a thrill from me confirming that I am available and asking them to ring again with a number showing so be it. In 4 years I think 2 or 3 have rung back but have never showed.

I used to do this but as the result of someone deciding to continuously waste my time by phoning withheld every week for months and a even a full year, I simply wasn't prepared to carry on answering them any more. My experience also was that about 1 in about 10 would phone back and display their number, the others would either not phone back at all or try again several times thinking I'd relent.

Trust is an essential element of this game. It works both ways. Therefore I have never withheld my number and never will.

Spot on! The lady is going to trust you with her naked self in a position of extreme vulnerability - the least you can do is trust her with your number!

A caller's location (past and present) can also be pinpointed from phone data, plus a whole host of other things which can be connected or worked out. Surprising what you can do with technology these days.
