Why is it that escorts and (to a lesser extent) agencies think that its a good idea to have sites full of spelling mistakes and poor grammar.

I know, at the end of the day punters dont visit girls for a spelling bee but it just makes good business sense to ensure your site at least looks GCSE standard.

Often theyre made by some bloke who gets a freebie in exchange for putting a site up without any knowledge or experience and more importantly while demonstrating a grasp of the English language that a 13 year old Polish refugee would be ashamed of.

Its not just girls sites escort listing too are prone to it, do people not have a grasp of there, their and they're?

theres some ridiculous examples round these parts, from the listing owner who uses the words "Its nearly Santa time and if your realy lucky

youll have one of these girls in your stocking, once again *agency name*

teases us with there winter xmas delights. for more filling ideas... Click here for more"

or on the same site "Welcome once again to the now infamous *site name* Advent Calander. For the next month your only allowed to open one box a day."

The site that asks you to "please give notice for travalling"

but the best has to be.....

to the girl who has allowed one of her links to say (and I kid you not) "DAIRY" for the past 6 months!

I know Im probably just picky but I just think that as in any business presentation is everything and no matter what, it gives the impression that the girl is the dim one rather than some "webmaster" (I use the term begrudgingly!).

Absolutely hilarious! You are pulling our legs aren't you? You have made at least 7 punctuation errors (ignoring some missing commas) in a complaint about other people's grammar!

"think that its a good idea" should be "think that it's a good idea"

"Often theyre made" should be "Often they're made"

"Its not just girls sites" should be "It's not just girls' sites"

"theres some ridiculous examples" should be "There are some ridiculous examples" or at least "There's some ridiculous examples"

"I know Im probably just picky" should be "I know I'm probably just picky"

Nice one Northern Lad, if that is GCSE standard it must be true what they say about declining standards!

I've not noticed many spelling and grammar problems though these would do nothing to encourage me.

More annoying is badly laid out sites, confusing links and irritating extra flashy bits.

I think one of the best is LesGirls at www.lesgirls.co.uk which is dead simple and gets the information across easily.

Yes, but unless they have changed their policy, they won't do OWO there:(

Remember the ladies concerned are not web design experts, so the important thing is to have a site that is easy to find and contains all the information the punter requires.

Spelling and punctuation errors are only a slight irritation.

But, if your site takes too long to load, the punter will go elsewhere. Punters will not necessarily have the latest fastest PC. It's known that if a site takes more than 30 seconds to load the user will give up. So, clever flash sites can be a bad thing. Simple is good.

I also think Escorts' Sites lack imagination. Well over half of them have the same boring old layout, probably copies of each other.

Another thing, I'm surprised more of them don't have adverts on them. This could be a useful supplementary income. There are some examples but not many.

Hahahahahahaha.....Mr Spelling B is just as bad as those he ridicules, isn't he?

Anyway, what do you expect from all us girls who would be stacking shelves in Tescos if it weren't for the gold mines we were born with? :(

I quite agree about the bad grammar and spelling on websites... and I have seen the "dairy" one... so WHO THE HELL ARE YOU northern lad!? :)

That rogue apostrophe gets ever'ywhere two!

:(

If the writer is not English then it is forgiveable... otherwise... not!

If we saw badly written advertisements for any other businesses we would be tut tutting... I dont see why escort sites and ads should be accepted as ok with bad grammar etc.... it looks rushed and tacky.

I agree about website quality. Anyone charging £100 an hour and upwards who isn't prepared to invest a small amount of time and money in a decent website doesn't deserve the business. It doesn't have to be a complicated site, but shouldn't just be taken from a basic template. Spelling and grammar should also be correct if the lady is trying to marketing herself as intelligent/able to fit in in any social situation/converse at any level etc, otherwise the site is inconsistent with the message she wants to portray, and that's not good business.

The fact that Northern Lad made mistakes of his own doesn't affect the validity of his argument.

Best Wishes, JB

Smacks of laziness to me. How many seconds does it take to run things through a spell checker?

I've never been able to work out how girls can justify charging massive amounts of money then put a shabby website.

No it doesn't. But why try be superior when you're (not you personally) standard of spelling and grammer aint shit hot either?

Some people will bitch about anything.

I've read books and newspaper articles with spelling mistakes and grammer errors and skip over them as long as I get the gist of what they mean.

But hey ho, if kicking the dog makes you feel good, go for it.

Ahem. That's gramAr...:(

But you're right and the OP's right. Too many sites are poorly designed, poorly spelt, slow to load. But if you're going to throw stones, OP, ffs get out of the greenhouse!

I'd rather have a site with a few spelling mistakes than one where I'd be mistaken as a porn star as appose to an escort.

I'm leaving this thread now. I don't communicate well with people looking down.

Who's said anything about a porn star? My original comment (above) talks about consistency between the medium and the message. Why are you taking this personally?

I welcome the poor construction of a site combined with bad grammar. I makes it easier to discern the ladies that make an effort from the average WG.

There are some wonderful sites on the net, if in doubt take a look at Dianna Webster's site - simply delightful.

Mrs Smith, if they're looking down it's because they're standing on a ladder. Keep calm and stay graceful, you're sexier that way.

I've calmed down. Had my de-flea'ing done this morning. I'm all fluffy again. :(

Christ, it's only the English who'd worry if the WG they're planning to visit couldn't hold her own in a game of scrabble, or give them a few crossword tips.

All the establishments around here have sites that are heaving with errors. I, personally, don't care.

Guys, you're not gonna get Carol Vorderman for a £50 punt are you?

:(

Dianna's is great. I see Amber has a new website too which looks pretty classy and a bit different. Also she is now showing her face in her new pics, though she still includes the old ones with her face blurred. All in all you get a good idea of what she's like .... wonderful!

ok, so I asked for that one :( however trouncer I would say that 7 missing apostrophes in a post on a punter board is irrelevant compared to poor spelling on an advert.

I'm not having a go at the girls and if Mrs Smith read my post fully she would see that I'm arguing for them not against.

My point is that a website is probably the most valuable advertising asset a girl can have, even a professionally designed site is fairly cheap when compared to many weeks of newspaper advertising yet they are often willing to allow someone with no experience to design and build it. Once it's built it sits untouched even though the errors are staring them in the face.

In the case of the escort listings site, how do they get work from girls when they cannot even spell simple words on their own pages? I'm no web designer and wouldnt know my HTMwhatsit from a Javathingy but I do know that before making live such a thing you should carry out basic spelling checks.

A girl could have a doctorate degree but if you see the words "come visit my dairy" instead of diary then it would mean sweet fanny adams. :)

But it's allowed for us blokes to post links to girls' websites. It's all part of recommending the good ones to each other.

Of course it is and we all make mistakes in our posts. I just thought it was funny, that's all. I'll make a note in my dairy.:)
