Telephone Security

18 posts in this topic

There have been a number of posts, on a variety of different topics, about the security, or otherwise, of mobile phones what with all the high tech modern gizmo's that tell you where you are, where your phone is, what you had for dinner, if your OH is on the scent etc.

I thought it might be a good idea to collect the various items of info under one heading.

Please feel free to add your words of wisdom.

Best starting point is a keypad lock, so OHs dont pry. She has one too, so cant complain if I do. Always use the 'in case it's stolen' excuse.

I use an iPhone 5 and did have a second phone for punting, but felt the OH knew, and that it created more suspicion than it solved, so I use the one phone. I make all arrangements via email to a secure, unknown account accessed via webmail, and any calls/messages from said WG are deleted after the session as this is a facility of the phone, so my phone appears 'clean'. I also have 1200 mins, unlimited text/net, and bills arrive at the secure email electronically, so no evidence there either. I also regularly delete cookies and browsing history.

Only possible weakness is if somone downloaded the GPS data, but they'd find I'd been where I said I needed to be for work, etc, and from previous downloads, when plotted on a map, it wasnt that accurate, which may or may not be a problem.

My only possible risk is if WG keeps my number and sends an unsolicited text. Not happened yet, but who knows......

iPhone 5 -

A start, more to follow at some point.

Either don't sign in to iCloud or at least turn off "Find my iPhone" (assuming your OH knows your iTunes password).

Even though my OH doesn't know my passcode I do all my punting browsing via Mercury browser which can be further passcode protected itself.

All details of escorts, punts, notes etc are in Codebook which is high encrypted. Codebook can be backed up to a Dropbox account.

Saved photos from AW galleries and websites are store in Video Safe app.

I agree individual call history can be deleted but I prefer a second phone. Would never compromise a number I've had for 15 years.

Do you as a punter NEED to use such a phone, i dont, i use an old second hand dedicated punting phone. I have seperate mobile broadband on my notebook if i need net access, mind you North Herts has patchy mobile broadband access and none in some places like Baldock so i simply have various numbers on me including of regulars if all else fails.

I keep it as simple as possible.

My punting phone is one of old mobiles, pre iPhone.

We still need to ensure our regular phone isn't giving our whereabouts away even if we don't use it to contact escorts.

My regular phone is an old one too which is switched off when i am punting although i might check it in the breaks i need. I of course agree any advice given to posters here could be very handy for them if they do have newer phones. If it saves just one punter getting caught out its well worth a thread and future threads. :)

My iPhone goes to flight mode for a punt then I claim I've been in a dodgy area if the OH wanted me.

Just noticed I hit 5 instead of 4 above. I have an iPhone 4 running 6.0.1 Likely to upgrade soon to an iPhone 5 though.

The problem I have with a punting phone is this. Say I receive a text from a WG asking to reschedule the time or needs some information for our meet, how can I check these messages if the wife is at home? This is why I decided to do away with the punting phone and receive all my punting texts on my main phone via my iPhone 4S. I have taken certain security precautions to ensure that I cover my tracks.

I think we each have a variety of methods that are employed, but the key is not to be complacent, and try to think of all the possbile loopholes.

One of the best ways I have found is not to display suspicious or changed behaviour. My job means I am away one night in the middle of the month, but even though I have the opportunity, I dont always punt, and certainly dont always do full blown FRs on AW, as my OH knows where I stay, and that pattern might be visible if she ever discovered the AW site.

I also try to take punts in my stride, and not display a sudden change in behaviour. On one recent punt, was in Birmingham on business, picked up a WG at Coventry station mid afternoon, 2 hours in a Travelodge, her back to station, me 20 mins from home, arriving back more or less normal time.

What really does freak me is the risk the OH may call mid-punt, (happend once while lady was giving me a stunning BJ) so I ususally call home before, or go to airplane mode and later claim crap signal.

I put my punting SIM into an old handset yesterday and found a lot more stored numbers than I thought I had put in. It seems the handset remembers stuff too, so another thing to be a bit wary of when changing handsets. Always ensure that you have cleared all the memory facilities.

I use a cheapie payg mobile as my punting phone. I generally only use it for two reasons/occasions. Initial contact (if so requested by the lady) or after she had agreed, via e-mail, that the booking is convenient to talk with her to get some idea as to what she is like. I don't use the phone again until the day of the booking. Never save anything to the sim. Delete information after each use.

Try and do everything by e-mail by a secure e-mail address via iPhone generally or pc.

My punting phone is just the opposite, texts and contacts are stored to the sim. In emergency whip the sim out and phone is blank.

Also, my punting phone requires a pin to switch on (4 digits), pin for sim (8 digits) plus pin to access contacts and text messages. My old mobile pre-iPhones and a super punting phone.

Hi all

I've been using a punting SIM, but have just learned that iCloud stores all SMSs messages.  Does anyone know how to get into iCloud to delete them?  I can't see any messages when I do.

Thanks
