I just had this newspaper clip sent to me from Norway.

Norway made it illegal to pay for sex some time ago. Originally the fine was 9,000 kroner (£950) and it is now being increased to 25,000 kroner (£2650) due to the street scene returning after the ban.

not any, if you admit the crime you'll be given a fine on the spot, as per 26.10.2009 96 had been fined in Oslo, most on the street.

The police use inventive methods to catch punters, like confiscating WG's mobiles and a female police answers the incoming calls

As for off street, when the police chase punters they get, as a bonus, the WG thrown out on the street, it is illegal to rent premises that are used for selling sex and they inform the landlord see to it that the WG is evicted.

Should we conclude from this that the ban in Norway has been ineffective?

Quite sad really

More repressive legislation and a more zealous policing appears to be resulting in parlours closing, and some girls going to the streets.

So the street numbers rise and the reaction is to deter demand further by upping the fine. Street punters will therefore require encounters to be even more secretive which makes the girls more vulnerable.

This is what the IUSW is saying will happen here. Let's hope not.

Presume there was a poweful radfem lobby behind the politicians introducing the legislation and the increased fine. What they will happily allow happen to their fellow women justso they can spite men.

it should be noted that the ban was most of all aimed at street prostitution

because a large amount of Nigerians were doing business on the streets of Oslo.
