Absolutely, not only shit overpriced coffee but also if you're mobile phone is stolen in there branches ( and hundreds are) there is no cctv coverage, the only cctv they have is covering the tills to stop their own staff from pilfering, staff never see anything and don't care anyway.

Well;

I like their coffee.

I like the staff in my local branch.

I like the atmosphere in there.

I like the free Internet access.

I enjoy all the freebies I get.

I don't have any problem that they conform with the tax laws, invested a lot of money into this country, employ 1000's of people who all pay;

Tax

NI

and reduce the unemployment figures.

If the Government is unhappy with these companies, change the tax laws and close loopholes.

Stop the BBC, politicians, companies, individuals using and promoting Amazon, Twitter, Facebook etc with free advetising until all these companies are morally complying with the spirit of the tax laws.

I used starbucks today ... aw & Pnet worked fine. Maybe your SB uses the Cloud WiFi network, that blocks Pnet, I find London SB's used to use Cloud but now have the BT network in them & have had no problems since.

Cloud wifi blocks PN ,AW , ISG not just at Starbucks  but at Wetherspoon Pubs as well ..

This didn't happen last year at these venues . Must be new Directives ??

There was a news item a few weeks back about the dangers of children seeing porn on customers computers in public places. Starbucks were named, only I think, as it gave the report an opportunity to revisit the tax story.

These clampdowns are getting bad.

Went to the Post Office this morning to send some parcels to the USA, and I was asked what was in them!!!!!!!

Said I cant tell you for security reasons. Bloke said he couldnt accept them 'for security reasons' !!

So I had to tell him. (Nosey git) Maybe I should have said a stale fart in a bottle?

Apparently, this question will be asked for all inland parcels and packets from September. Effing Big Brother.................

nothing as your not allowed to open someone elsed mail so how is anyone going to find out unless your parcel gets randomly chosen because it looks dodgy going through the xrays at customs. Just give a vague description. If its full of vibrators just say toys, its vague enough for them not to guess the true  contents but if the custom guys check you put a valid description on it lol

HMRC and the post office are both allowed to open mail (especially parcels) if they have reason to suspect that the contents are dangerous or breach other customs regulations.   I don't know what the powers of US customs are when it comes to opening parcels sent into the USA, but it wouldn't surprise me if they can't open them either.

But as you say Chloe, filling in the customs declaration with a vague description should keep them happy, and describing a box of vibrators as toys seems a perfecty sensible idea.
