What Do You Look For In A Website?

57 posts in this topic

Now that i'm finally getting a decent website sorted is there anything in particular that I should include on it or that guys look for? I'm hopeless at all this stuff so I'm paying for someone to kindly to do it all for me, although it will be my own words obviously. I know that I would like a good few pages so it's very detailed and informative. I know what I want to say on each page and getting my personality across, plus I want to link the site to all my reviews. Is there anything else I should think about or take into consideration?

Kylie x

No flashy content. No music. It only downloads slower.

Clear description of activities you enjoy, and the kind of people you wish to meet. Clearly state if you don't wish to see people of certain apperance.

Rough location. Southeast London? Hendon? South Kensington? Leicester? Any information is good. It saves time for you and for us.

Real pictures. No photoshop.

Clear statement of when you are available (week days, weekends, starting from when, finishing when).

And it would be EXCELLENT if there was support for online booking. But I know this bit is hard to manage.

Hiya,

A few suggestions-

  • Don't make it *too* detailed- most guys online these days have a goldfish's attention span, Catch 'em in two clicks or they're swimming elsewhere. Pics/Rates/Calendar/About/Reviews are 95% of what is needed.
  • (Any web designer worth their salt wiil know following but it's particularly nb for WG sites: Don't use garish backgrounds nor (anything other than subtle) soundtracks- this isn't so much a mater of taste as simple fact that many clients access from work ..& there's nothing worse than having " I like BIG BUTTS" blaring from the speakers ;->
  • Statement of obvious... DO NOT use any public domain pics that have ever been used with a trail to your real ID...that Facebook pic from your beach hol in Kenya may look stunning but even blurred/cropped/tinted etc, Google Images will find it. Get some pro pix taken, the investment will pay off.!

best of luck

I think this is very important, one thing I have to start doing (and there was a topic/debate on this a while back on the forums) is start messaging girls to make sure they are happy to see a certain type of client (ie; non caucasian in this case)

And just make sure you can keep it update as much as possible, maybe with a blog or something. I'm sure if you write the content the way you post on here it will be a great website. You sound like a really fun and friendly person Kylie :)

Easy to read text and background that doesn't make your eyes burn, easy to navigate,

rates, services, phone number etc all easy to find, plenty of pics

Nothing too flashy. I remember one by someone who will remain nameless which took forever to load and when it did there was so much movement on the screen, gaudy colours and flahing it looked like someone had been sick in technocolour.

Get to the point immediately. State exactly what you offer and be direct.

Nothing worse than profiles that waffle on endlessly or escorts that try to be funny because it usually fails horribly. One good example of a profile that is full of unnecessary junk is newindependent on Adultwork. Who on Earth has time to read through all that crap on so many different tabs?

Be short and concise with your own website.

I'd agree with much of what has been said. If what you have to offer is good then there is no need for gimmicks. Though I would say a video is a good idea. Gives you a much better idea of what a girl is like rather than pics alone.

yeah, an introduction video is cool, if you are good at talking to the camera

One of the most important things is to use correct spelling and grammar - nothing puts me off faster than a page being full of typos, incorrect use of words (e.g. there/their, affect/effect, your/you’re, etc.).

One more thing (if I may); don't place your pictures in a slide show. Present them in thumbnails.

The most explicit photos in the gallery of course!

...oh, hang on, you mean what should you put on your website, not what do I look for... :D

Only link to your reviews if you can keep that page up to date. If you've not changed that page in six months, then it looks like you retired six months ago!

Rates and 'dealbreakers' on one page please. I'm fine with your dos and don'ts, but don't hide them away. Ideally you want the visitor to go through 3 stages:

1) I fancy her, but can I afford her?
2) wow, yes I can... but does she do what I want?
3) wow, yes she does... I'm seriously thinking about a booking here, let's read everything else she says...

Don't make me jump about too much to go through those 3 stages, by spreading the information all over the place so you have lots of pages, or having photos that are so mysterious I don't know if you're hiding some hideous deformity. A gallery is essential, but don't have half a dozen pages unless you've done half a dozen shoots, and don't hide the more explicit ones on the last page, because I might have given up before then. Also, give the year the shots were taken, and add new shots at least once a year (or if you change hair colour / weight / drastically).

Use a decent professional photographer, but tell him/her to lay off the photoshop as much as possible. You need someone who will bring lights, filters, more than one lens, and can give a detailed explanation of the work 'bokeh' without looking it up. A mate with an expensive camera will not do, nor will a camera phone on it's own, but a mix of the two can be great - HoD are a good example, they over do the photoshop on their main site, but have a stream of up-to-date camera phone pics too.

Lastly, the site should fit your personality and style of service. Lace, coyness and those 'all black and white except for an out of focus red rose' photos work if you're in the GFE camp, while whips, leather and oiled-up tits only work if you're going for the PSE market.

Get a banner made too with your phone number on it and place it at the top of every page on your site as well as using it for reciprocal links.  Its amazing how many girls don't display their contact details properly.  Keep it short, most guys only visit the rates and galleries anyway.

All good points. I would never use photoshop anyway and I will be doing a new photo shoot soon. If I could I would actually really like it to have an online booking feature.

I just want to say that I don't mean an adultwork profile. I think some people are getting a little confused. I've been doing this three years in the summer and have had my adultwork profile all that time. Now I am setting up a proper website of my own. On adultwork my profile is quite long and all tabbed up explaining everything and what I specialise in. I'm very happy with it like that and I have spent a lot of time on it. I know not every client is going to read it all, but some really do appreciate a detailed a well written profile/website. Some guys actually want to take the time to get to know more about the escort they are meeting rather than just what particular 'services' she's offering.

yes. make sure your web man has tested it in IE, firefox, chrome, on windows, android and iphone, that it works on tablets. And on macs.  And old versions of browsers.

and have a clear menu so i can flick easily between pages.

and no 'donations'. you aint a charity.

and as sadi above, put your location on your home page.

and no contact forms. just have an email address,

I think videos are a great way forward. Not nude ones, but a sexy lingerie show.

As many said above, keep it simple and readable. We want to know how much and what we are getting for our money. Plus a list of what we are not getting is also helpful

it always annoys me when people have things floating down over the screen , love hearts, fluffy clouds, spiders crawling around up the side etc. Its off putting. Have seen the first two on more than one escort site i have been checking out in the past for various reasons and its just really irritating and I alway thought jeez, a guy would have to really like the look of this girl to bother staying. But thats just me

Kylie I hope you are with someone who will actually update your website for you in a hurry if you require and not make you wait a week at which point its pointless. I have heard some horror storys from other girls in the past and you still have to keep on paying every month. Its better to get one that you will ultimately be able to edit yourself once its finished.

That's important.  The guy that built my first ever site (and probably the best I had on reflection) is well known and would sort any problems at the drop of a hat but there was one time when I couldn't contact him and had an emergency that ultimately ended up costing me a fortune.  You need to update yourself.

The simpler the better, as has been said. Most guys want to know

1  Where you are

2  What you do

3  What you charge

4  What you look like

5  What's your phone number.

That's all folks!!

There is only one formula for a successful website.

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid

I know you are not stupid Kylie. Far from it. I'm sure you know which pieces of advice suits you. You don't need to write a novel. Prospective clients don't want to read a story. They want information. Anything else is padding.

One thing that is essential from your point of view. As others have previously said you must be able to update your website personally. If not immediately as soon as possible thereafter.
