Are you using it to find women for paid sex, or are you paying for their time and whatever happens between consenting adults etc etc??

Doesn't matter whether he's looking to pay for sex or not, it's not illegal and the 'consenting adults' thing is a waste of time and space.

In the UK it is perfectly legal to pay a consenting partner in order to enjoy what the law often describes as "carnal relations".

As a punter you are doing nothing illegal if you visit a consenting adult in order to have sex. You are transgressing the law if you frequent the street sex scene. Ladies may transgress if two or more of them use the same premises at the same time in order to provide sex; this may constitute "running a brothel".

The following are illegal;

1. Soliciting a prostitute in the street or other public place.

2. Obtaining the sexual services of a prostitute under the age of 18.

3. Paying or promising to pay for the sexual services of someone subjected to exploitative conduct (ie.force, threats, coercion or deception  by a third party).

No its not illegal. Do you think it would have been on the internet for as long as it has been if it was? The police are well aware of it and its not illegal.

... and they frequently visit WGs as clients when off-duty [presumably ;) ].  One of my regulars has mentioned to me that another of her regulars is a Police Superintendent.

[Apologies to Bibi for slightly amending her post.]

I notice North Korea is on the list of countries AW lists.

I think all of the above replies relate to this country. I fear other less tolerant countries have quite serious penalties for pay for sex encounters.

doesn't have to be at the same time. 2 ladies who use a flat on alternate days still makes the flat a brothel.  But the punter who visits the ladies is not commiting an offence.

Thanks for the correction CP. I wasn't ware that was the case, and I bet a lot of others thought as I did, before your helpful post.

FFS! Please do your homework, boys! Go here, and read, mark and inwardly digest, http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/p_to_r/prostitution_and_exploitation_of_prostitution/

As you will discover the English definition of a "brothel", which Scotland seems to use, is one made, doubtless in difficult cases, by a succession of Judges. What we badly need is a sensible statutory definition.

Had you noticed that there is no need for money to be involved in a brothel? One of our senior members here responded a year or so back, that the definition fits pefectly the University Hall of Residence then occupied by his daughter, and other young persons!

Well one idea that might occur to a person of minimal intelligence would be to ask your friend, Google, for, say, CPS Guidance on Prostitution? To save you the effort of entering such a complex search, go:

http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/p_to_r/prostitution_and_exploitation_of_prostitution/

When you have gone there, read the bloody thing, starting at the top and working down to the bottom.

Forgive me, but that is obvious! Asking Google, however, does not require genius. Anyway, have you now read it?

The basics have also been discussed and clarified here many, many times.

The halls of residence and 'young' people.

I think you'll find people of all ages have sex, and students can be of all ages.

My experience of university was that the 'younger' students were a lot more reserved than the older 'mature' students and I found that just as much sex, drugs and rock and roll happen in the accommodation of people of all sorts of occupations and ages (including 'professional's in the 30s and 40s), from leafy suburbs to council flats. A brothel can be anywhere more than one woman has sex, including the family home if you have adult children with partners who stay over(or not!).

When I was doing an OU degree 15+ years ago, I was most disappointed when my, erm, "overtures" to female students on our Summer Schools were rejected.   I'm not saying it was the reason I signed up, but I thought it might be a "perk" of the exercise. ;)

The laws in the Netherlands don't care about how the contact between the WG and you is made. They still apply whether you use AW for it, or not. I can use AW when I please or use any other website. No difference.

Since some of the punters and WGs have pointed to the laws regarding prostitution: In the Netherlands the sex worker (or WG) and the client must be at least 18 years old. It is unlawful to pay a WG for sex, who is coerced into it by human trafficking. For being a WG you need a registration. If that is accepted the WG will get a permit to work. WG must be tested for STDs and must - just like anyone else who is working for a company or for themself - pay taxes.

Prostitutes and clients may not be underaged, i.e. may not be 17 years old or younger, although people may have sex at 16 (age of consent).

In the Netherlands there is no difference between obviously paying for sex (Red Light District or brothel prostitute) and "paying for the lady's time only and whatever happens depends on two consenting adults" ((high class) escorts); for some countries it makes a difference; in the Netherlands it does not. Generally, prostitution (in whatever kind it is) is legal and regulated. A mayor can still give or refuse giving a permit to someone that wants to be a WG.

And that (with the exception of the mayor bit) is exactly how it should be.  Pee's me off that some of us within this industry pay taxes while many don't and get away with it.  Pee's me off that many of us regularly get sexual health checks whilst many don't and get away with it.  Pee's me off that others can earn off the back of the girls and there is little actually done about it. Pee's me off that the girls in this country have to pretty much police the industry themselves (no health and safety for us).  Pee's me off that other countries are not as blind or blinkered as this one..

Do I appear pissed off?
