I've only ever been to Soho once in my life, when I was about 17 and a mate and I were tricked into buying "a drink" for £25. We only went in because we were intrigued and nearly ended up with a kicking when we refused to pay! Do those kind of places still exist in Soho? Now I am older and wiser I would like to go again to a more reputable establishment, without threats of violence and buying a shandy for £25

Clip joints?Yep.Dont think theyll ever totally get rid of them although there were many promises to deal with them after the Camille Gordon murder.Thats the problem with rackets like that.Yes you can threaten and intimidate all you like.Nowdays however there are too many crazies that will come back which is exactly what happened in this case

Gastroporn?? Love it that he is not putting down the sex industry in any way. Very good little article and very true as my one and only foray into soho was one of initial surprise and confusion and the thought "were the feck are the sex shops??"

I read in a newspaper many years ago that they tried it on a group of Israeli soldiers who knew how to tackle them. The thugs came off worse that time!

A good place to try is The Stockpot on Old Compton Street. Standard grub, but at a reasonable price.

Looks like i'm heading to Soho this weekend now.The sad part is,if you put a lovely lady on one side, and one of those cakes on the other and told me to choose theres a very good chance i'd take the cake :(

Why not have the lovely lady first and then the cake? :)

Nom nom nom, my favourite london shop is the cheese shop around the corner from south ken tube station, well one of them anyway lol x

Next time I'm in that part of London I'll check it out. If I'm punting I'll try to remember to buy any cheese after the punt, not before. I wouldn't want to turn up with 1/4 lb of Stinking Bishop in my punting bag. :D

Go to Spearmint Rhino - free entry in the day (£10 later) , the drinks are average London price and the girls are in the main gorgeous. It is strictly a legit lapdancing club though.

There are quite a few reputable strip and pole dancing clubs nowdays.Personally i'd go for the pole ones as they are far more entertaining, always amazes me seeing someone supporting their entire bodyweight in the crook of a single joint.Have had the pleasure of seeing world champion as well as some of the highly placed before. Now before i go totally off topic. If youre in London dont forget you've also got the strip pubs where the ladies are still top class and the drinks are normal priced. One lady who frequently works the pubs has won many awards for her shows.

They make it look so easy, but I imagine it is anything but!

That shop sells the best melting cheese on the planet. Its french with a very long name so I can never remember it. Its only sold for 3 months over christmas though but if your having family around just stick it in the oven for 25 minutes and they will all be stuffed after that and some yummys to dip in it, its a decent size. Just ask for the special french christmas cheese that you melt, its what I did and its purrrfeeeccct ...nice n smooth n hot n runny on your bread stick xx
