Wash Intimate Areas

Women who wash intimate areas with shower gels and soaps 'increase their risk of sexually transmitted infections.'

Using soaps or lubricants internally raises women's risk of STIs

The products can upset pH levels and bacteria balances

Can also damage delicate tissues, allowing harmful organisms to proliferate

Remember this is the Daily Mail.

Interesting that they are using Thrush and BV as their measure of "sexually transmitted infections" both these conditions do not require any sexual activity to develop, the organisms responsible are already present in the body and under certain(quite 'innocent') conditions can flourish and turn into a problem -such as over washing and the transference on fingers from anus to vagina.

Careful reading revealed petrolium jelly and oils gave the highest positives for yeast and bacterial infections, something most sex workers know not to use because they reduce effectiveness of latex condoms.

The article also states not to wash internally with harsh soaps and gels, most body-aware-women know not to soap up internally.

Interesting how they can make a startling eye-catching article out of the fact over washing can cause PH changes which enable naturally present organisms to multiply. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it?

I'm afraid this is another half arsed piece of second hand journalism, picked up and peddled by the Daily Wail in an attempt to stir up the righteous indignation of the Tory faithful, to take their minds off another disastrous budget.
