Confessions Of A Dinner Wh*re

16 posts in this topic

Below from Daily Mail ( where else ;-> )

This bird is complaining about bad dates? The men should complain. They didn't get desert LOL. :P

Many ladies don't find anything wrong with this kind of behavior but from a guy's point of view I'd be a bit annoyed. With that kind of attitude she sure will find true love haha. Good luck finding a "real" relationship with that kind of mentality.

Although it's not that much different from guys who ask a girl out for dinner with no other intention than to get in her pants. When it comes to dating, most peoples, especially younger ones, are not in it to find "the one", but to have a good time. They expect to have some fun and move on. If she was good company on the dates and treated the guys well, then it's hardly a capital offense.

I was a 'dinner whore': Confessions of a fashionista who cruised Craigslist and OKCupid for dates just so she could get free meals

PUBLISHED: 16:30 EST, 23 March 2013

New York fashion blogger Brittny Pierre is not ashamed to admit that she had gone out on dozens of dates with men for the sole purpose of getting a square meal.
Pierre, who has been writing for Village Voice Media and a hip hop website, made the confession in a piece written in the first person that appeared on the feminist blog XOJane this week.
The woman detailed how she would meet her 'victims' on the dating site OKCupid and through Craigslist, and would go out for dinner three times a week with different men, allowing them to foot the bill every time

Good on her!

'Good' in what way?... the fact she (mainly) pulled this off...or got hoist by her own petard several times? ;)

There isn't a guy online alive today who will ever entertain this girl again...just saying. LOL

...and the guys with longer memories will have big egos and think they will be the one to crack the nut.....

Thats how it begins, before long they are hooked on Flapjacks, and order them with each meal.

Next we will see escorts on AW who will work a 30 minutes session for a meal with unlimited amount of flapjacks.

Go to your local GUM clinic and get checked out for a STD, they have medicine to combat it if you have caught the Flapjack disease.

"A manager at a high-end Manhattan restaurant where Pierre got a job as a hostess even called her a low-rate prostitute after learning about her escapades."

Interesting observation by the manager!

I'm appalled at how proud she is of scrounging off people.

I know! It's just not right IMHO. I feel very awkward if I go on a first date and the man insists on paying; I feel somewhat indebted.  It would just feel immoral to take advantage like this woman does.

To answer a few questions and comments:

- yes wages at the Village Voice are shit.

- dinner whoring is full-on blood sport in New York, no shame or outrage needed. I know plenty of guys who would set up multiple dates in one night, I know of guys who have disappeared after the first drink, dating in New York is fairly cut-throat (and very exciting). Any guy worth his salt knows he'll encounter more than a few bad dates, he'll she might be a great conversationalist and fun time out anyway.

- women have the short end of the stick, so to speak, in NYC...the ratio favors men, that's both in number and looks, it's just brimming with hot women. Most women I know there have much crazier dating stories than the guys, when they find one they like it can be downright scary to watch, Attenbough would understand!

- most women (and men) looking for free food use the launch/fashion/art/charity events which are ubiquitous and well catered. I had a friend who worked at a magazine, and swears she did not buy a dinner on a weeknight in over a year. It's really like that.

I don't really see any problem with the concept. I'm quite happy to pick up the meal tab on a dinner date with an interesting and (ideally) attractive woman, as long as she's actively taking part not just wolfing it down and pissing off. I don't expect sex in return. I'm seeing someone now and again in just this way at the moment and as she's a young single mum I imagine she is grateful for a free night out and I enjoy it hugely

But this girl seems to be just taking advantage obviously

It pisses me off. When I go over to New York and dine out, it is fun to see how many women pop off to "powder their noses" ie wait in the lavvie until the bill is settled. And these are the same women who support equal rights and women being treated as equals

Rant over, I'll go and lie down again until the weather warms up

I'm based in NY ;->

Above is broadly correct, esp in Manhattan & Brooklyn, the single female demographic is much higher than elsewhere. As a guy it's generally expected that you pick up dinner tab without expectation of nookie, but the dating scene favors guys so heavily that you'll generally get laid unless you look like the Elephant man..and even then if you've money go figure. Although you could say same about London etc, the game over here is much more intense and although there's more women, most aren't looking to 'settle down' & mainly just want some fun, Manhattan has the highest proportion of single 30s in the developed world.

The free meal (at events) thing has ramped down with the Economy, it was like that 5 years back but far less so now.
