How Does Screening Work In The Uk?

17 posts in this topic

Hi I'm from the USA. How does screening work in the UK for people from another country? Or is there no screening in the UK since it is legal here, and you just call them and they show up?

Welcome to the board (and the UK). You guessed right: because it's legal, there's no screening.

Following Chris' comment, agreed, you can even just text message an agency with the girl's name, request date, time and how long, and your 'name', they usually are back to you in under 5 minutes. This activity between two consenting adults is legal in the UK, a quaint idea of personal freedom as compared to many other parts of the world. You can even walk your pint of lager outside here ;)

The only bits that are illegal is street walking; and brothels. Also, if you knowingly engage in prostitution with someone coerced or trafficked under duress, you can be prosecuted. If you encounter something like that, it is your moral obligation to contact the authorities, the number of which can be found at the header of the Field Reports page. You will not be pursued or prosecuted if you contact them.

to clarify, it is legal fr a punter to visit a brothel.  It is the keeping of a brothel that is illegal and the operator is the one who is committing an offence. So dont kerb crawl and dont punt with a girl if you have reason to doubt she is doing it of her own accord.

this is a good guide

Sorry, but this isn't quite right: if there has been duress, it doesn't matter whether or not you were aware of this, you can still be prosecuted. Hence the various dodgy, exaggerated "statistics" concerning coercion that were being thrown around a couple of years ago by those seeking to justify this new legislation.

That said, my understanding is that the number of prosecutions under the new provision to date has been virtually nil. (Others on this forum are more legally savvy and may be able to confirm/clarify that, or indeed to correct me if I've got it wrong.)

In the USA they require you to sign up for a verification service or have a provider voche for you. They require you to tell them where you work, etc. Do I want them calling my employer? Obviously not lolz.

Welcome to UK. The US system shound horrendous and it would be better to commute to Europe rather than go through screening.

The only 'screening' here is that the agency or parlour will not usually accept calls where they cannot see the number that's calling. So you may have a problem if you use a US cell phone.

Sounds like you are looking for an escort to visit you so search the sites for 'outcalls'. These are usually more expensive than if you visit them - 'incalls' and incalls have the advantage that you can walk away if you don't like the girl. Do your homework. Descriptions here, given to you when you call or on web sites, are usually reasonably accurate but obviously they will exaggerate a bit.

On the legalities, it is legal for you to visit a parlour or to use an escort agency. If you have any doubts about whether the girl is working of her own free will or may be under age (18 for working girls) then do not go ahead with the session as this may be illegal for you. If you are seriously concerned then phone Crime Stoppers and report the matter anonymously

. It is illegal for you to try to pick up a working girl in a public place, such the street, stations, pubs etc.

Good luck and have fun

Foreign mobiles show up just the same as UK numbers, no problem unless you chose to withhold the number.

hey OOTG,

have fun in the UK! ;->

FYI if you're on biz/hols in States;

In addition to above there's a full 'spectrum' of client screening by providers here in the US,

it ranges from nothing/minimal phone call (e.g. Backpage) all the way to providing your DL & Employment info (e.g. most 'HighRoller' Companions) - with gradations in between. Once you've contributed FRs to a punting forum it gets much easier. The best known verification services stateside are 'Preferred 411' & 'DateCheck'.*

fwiw, I've had a few friends visit from UK and you can often bypass all this malarkey by just calling & explaining your situation (not so many New York cops have British accents lol)- you may be asked to show your passport but if you're staying at a decent hotel you shouldn't have much issue.

Probably best to avoid Backpage & the ads from the 'VillageVoice'- about 80% is bait & switch. Better stick with local forums equivalent to PN, eg TER, BestGFE. Another option is Eros...but it still has some b&s. There's also rakes of agencies you'll find via TER etc. As a 'tourist' in NY punting world keep your wits about you, this place is rife with scams directed at visitors. If you do your homework, 99% of time you'll have great fun although I know a guy who arranged a Backpage outcall~ women who knocked on his door was 20yrs older than pix so he said 'No thanks' politely but she was clearly strung out and threatened to scream rape so he paid her $100 to FO

* On a tangential note, about 3yrs back the Feds raided & shuttered one of the worlds largest punting site "Escorts.com"... there were a lot of nervous dudes worried about that database in the hands of legal authorities...but it was a tax sting (company settled by paying >$6M)...no client (nor provider) was ever pursued.....yet...

Probably because there's no such thing as a 'British accent'

Of course not- but tell that to the average yank who can't tell difference between a scouser & a cockney. Most Americans will identify a Scottish accent but after that good luck. I've not 'lost' much of my own accent but having lived over here for a long time, for some reason many people presume I'm Australian!!

Oh, they're not that bad, although I think we've got BBC America to thank for that. They know I'm from the North when I'm there, even if they don't understand a word I say on the phone (but then neither does anybody else fifty miles out of Yorkshire :D).

I'd add to Fred's bit that if punters visiting from the UK have a well reviewed regular lady here with a proper website, it's often fine to suggest her as a reference provided you ask first - I've done quite a few and also for NY punters I've met whilst in town. It's an alternative to some of the other shenanigans (and I would no sooner ask for a punters details with a view to phoning his workplace than I would hand a copy of my Eros ad to Immigration at JFK). I would agree that you can expect to be asked for photo ID, too.

There's another screening site called RS2K which I've had punters from too on occasion, but as posted above a healthy number of credible punting board reviews is the biggest help I can think of :).

Cockney and scouse would just be differentiating between English accents then. I lived in the US for two years when I was at university, and the fact that they referred to Scottish or NI accents by those names, but any type of English accent is referred to as British suggested to me that you're taught British = English or UK = England.

I've lived in the US for many years & here's my take: the 'average' (in so far as that exists) American uses all the highlighted terms interchangeably (no value statement intended, just reflecting my observed reality). Of course some yanks understand the difference esp if they have expat friends, but even then most don't really give it much thought. It extends even further, I have a buddy who's originally from (south of) Ireland...and I know it irks him mildly that quite a few Americans presume all Irish people are 'British'. Here in the US NorthEast there are immigrants from just about every other country so many folks are 'clued-in' to national/regional distinctions...but again they don't give it much active consideration.

One last related observation: generally (unless you have a strong dialect eg Scottish/Irish/Eastern Canada "oout & aboot"), many Americans meeting somebody who speaks English as a first language with an 'accent' default to assume either 1) 'British' or <if not what they hear on BBC America etc> 2) 'Australian' (perhaps explaining my own odd situation)....thus if you're South African/Kiwi/Welsh yada yada they can rarely accurately place your origin.

Anyhoo...how's about that 'Screening in the UK'? ;->

I have seen that.... then again, I have seen UK TV companies add subtitles where someone is speaking English with a strong regional (or foreign) accent.  Personally I find it a bit of an insult, I can speak English, and enjoy trying to pick up what is being said.  (the exception being customer dis-service calls to Indian call centres)
