Yes porn leads to sexual assault and rape, just like violent video games lead to murder.

eg I've been playing Grand Theft Auto games for years and I haven't stolen a single car or shot anyone in real life. But I know the difference between fantasy and real life.

Internet porn and realistic violent video games have only been around the past couple of decades, yet rape and murder has always been around, and society is a lot less violent today than it has been long ago in the past when video games and the internet didn't exist.

Well thats the last time I use Iceland, they do a varied mixture of frozen goods, but if they are going to ban porn, I think they should be aware of which actress's they use to advertise their goods in their supermarkets.

Getting someone from Loose Woman, a former alcohol and druggie, and a dippy essex screwball, is no wise choice when you are talking about morals.

When this was proposed back in Feb, it sparked some debate in US punting circles..below is a repost of some stuff I mentioned before:

~~~
While chances of something similar happening in US are imho probably almost zero due to free speech etc (& the Prostitution aspect is ironically moot given legal status here), this is thought provoking on multiple levels;
  • Apart from being legally questionable <Iceland's constitution prohibits censorship>, given access nature of internet this move is akin to King Canute holding back the tiderolleyes.png.
  • Several other developed nations (eg Norway/Sweden) have criminalized paying for sex in recent years & some others have examined restrictions (Netherlands has tightened up on non-EU nationals working in field, Ireland's government is considering introducing a Swedish style model.)
  • Without mixing analogies, just two decades ago it seemed evident that legal same sex marriage was a pipe dream (even to gay rights advocates)...and we've seen how that's developed globally.
~~~

Again, doubt similar provisions would ever 'fly' in UK or States...but as alluded to in piece this isn't exactly Saudi Arabia proposing such a move!!

Looks like more good news,   Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir the extremist feminist prime minster of Iceland has been booted out of power

Well I suppose it's not BAD news, but what are the chances that the new lot will repeal or amend any of Iceland's anti-prostitution laws?
