Viva Street, Gum Tree & Other Advertising Boards

19 posts in this topic

I was very surprised today when girl I was talking to with considerable experience in the business said that Viva Street was great for finding business, the phone never stops ringing!!! She does not work in London that much usually, in fact I don't think she has ever used Viva Street while working in London, and maybe that makes a difference.

It looked bloody awful to me, cheap crappy adverts, I only looked at the paid for ones, but there are lots of free ones as well. Pictures of glamour models and adverts for what were clearly massage parlours, rather than independents they were claiming to be - At least that was my impression. I can't see how it compares to AW, and some people think AW is too 'wild west' to use. It's like going back the the post cards in the telephone boxs!!!!

So that my opinion, any one have a different view point or experience?

This looks like the equivalent to backpage.com in the US. Watch for bait and switch but often you can find some diamonds in the rough. But do your homework with Tineye or Google image search.

I didn't know Gumtree still advertised WGs. I've heard of Viva Street, but usually I just use AW or a sauna. They're cheaper.

I've had two reasonably good punts in the last few months, from Vivastreet ads. One in Belfast, one in Glasgow. It turned out the Glasgow lady also had an AW profile, but under a different name than her Vivastreet ad, and I hadn't spotted her on AW.

I found a whole new set of ladies there, none of whom I'd seen on AW. The ads are less comprehensive than some AW profiles, but all the Vivastreet ads had phone numbers (as it's free I suppose), so I was able to call up and chat, and decide on that basis.

I'll definitely use V in the future.

A girl I know tours for a week once a month in Scotland and told me that until she advertised on viva street she was thinking of giving up the tour. Now her phone rings constantly when she is there to the extent that the week there pays for all her life expense mortgage food bills car etc and the money she earns elsewhere in parlours for the rest of the month is just her "extra" money so she has to work less in parlours thus spending more time at home with her kiddos to make up for not being at home a whole week per month.

Gum tree used to be bloody dangerous. Anyone with a grudge could put a fake advert in for you without even registering it. Some cretin did it to me but changed my details to size 8 and 18 and my phone was ringing off the hook yet no one was booking, thinking it odd I asked one guy where he got my number. He said gum tree and when I explained I didn't have an advert there he very kindly read the ad out to me. I had to explain that it was fake and that I was in fact 38 and size 14 then get the ad removed whilst explaining to every caller it was fake. One dickhead said he was going to report me for putting a fake ad online even though it was me who told him it was fake . You now have to register an email address but we all know how easy it is to do that so veryfy girls details when using gum tree in case it's some poor woman this has also happened too xx

Bought my puppy off Gumtree.  Love him to death and wouldn't swap him for the world... But £2000 later I wish I hadn't gone near the place.

I've advertised on viva street sometimes and you get a high volume of calls but you have to wade through alot of dickheads. Its the internet version of those crappy contact magazines that nick your pics and blurb from your website.

On viva street you are not allowed to put rates or even really aluude to what you do..so as a wg its not for fainthearted.I did get a few nice clients though out of it.

Just out of interest I googled Viva Street. Is it just me or is it as difficult a site to use as it seems?

My experience of Vivastreet is much the same as Bibi posts above. VS also will not allow any mention of services, fees, links to websites and have rules surrounding photos which make it incredibly difficult for advertisers. They also tried to recently impose 070 numbers onto all advertisers in the Escort section. They way they operate is you pay for your ad but if they don't like your photo it's removed and takes another 48 hours to see if another is deemed suitable which is why when recently I gave the site another try I simply did not bother up loading any photos. Majority of my "I'm phoning for a massage" enquiries come from there and they go no-where quickly.

Viva street in itself is not free, its around £30 a month to advertise as an escort.

Yet you cant allude to any of your escorting stuff, pix, service or rates. Seems to me viva street are just another rip off and exploit the escort place to me xx

Search for massage / sensual massage and the area you're looking for, some of the results will be more than massage.....

As for VivaStreet, I'd been directed there a few times by search engines (are we allowed to use the verb 'google' lol) . Went there after reading this thread and found a cute looking girl, used tineye (for the first time after reading about it here) and no matches! Was she real?, don't know as I use private mode an my pc and can't find her now.... :-(

Very true. I've used to advertise on Viva Street for over a year when they charged £20 a month.  After about £140-£160 outlay, it did not generated a single booking, just a lots of calls and text messages which wastes takes time to answer, and guys expecting to pay £70/80 per hour, and wants to see them in a short notice.

I had a few bookings via vivastreet, but the amount of TW's calling me left me frustrated...could be worth an escorts time if she had the patience for idiots (unlike me!)  :D
