Dedicated Punting Phones - As Secure As The User?

24 posts in this topic

Heard a good story from a WG this afternoon.

Newish client for her starts calling, texting (on a dedicated punting phone) wanting to arrange drink, meal etc.and includes a few vivid descriptions of what he's going to do with her next meet.

She  tells him it's getting out of hand.

Meanwhile, apparently, guy's wife finds this phone and tells him she's going to call the girl to give her hell.

A salutary reminder to all who have a separate punting phone - it's only safe so long as OH doesn't find it!!

The guy? My money is on he's a serial searcher of free sex and has made up the wife bit to cover himself, will soon be off to try it on with the next WG.

Yeah, I call BS on the cover story.  If his wife found his punting phone it wouldn't be the WG's ears in danger, it would be other appendages of the punter.

I will always remember when a colleague got the push for "abusive use of company property".

He had booked a WG apt using the companies mobile phone while he was in work hours. It soon got around the company & all phones were then set to internal number use only.

So he's not to blame but the WG is?  lol...   Who is to say she even knew that the man was married?

Simply have a phone with a password/pin code.

I didn't use a dedicated punting phone. My ex found a text message from a directory enquiry for the phone number of a Glasgow sauna (those were the days - New Blythswood, Aquarius etc) that I'd forgotten to delete. It was the tipping point for a relationship that wasn't working for a long time prior. My regret is not so much the discovery, more that I didn't deal with relationship issues earlier.

I've heard of relatives nosing into phones when disconnecting to share chargers etc. People do dig around, my phones are passworded and closely guarded. Always makes me smile when I receive text messages saying "Sorry for the text intro, I'm married and have to be discrete so cannot call". Ok fair enough but a text whilst it is silent does leave a trace, and can be just as telling.

Just made me think about when I first started indulging.    Being a real smart arse I had already sorted myself out with a punting phone (lucky set of circumstances) so that wasn't a problem.         If he (or anyone) actually made a booking did you give him any advice about getting a punting phone etc and (this is to all the ladies) do you give general information to guys that will enable them to cheat on their wives effectively?

One particular lady (very early on) was very helpful to me in several ways and I wondered if this was a general attitude amongst most ladies?

No I don't give that type of advice, I may provide a discrete service but that's about it - quite often the "Girlfriend/wife is in the next room" reason is one used by prolific t/sext 'chatters'. Next best reason for wanting to t/sext 'chat' is "Can't phone I'm driving".

Update on the original story. Lady concerned has had further e mails from the guy in the latest of which he has suggested that she might like to go for a drink at his house tomorrow, and by the way he and his wife are no longer together. She has ignored him.

Points arising from this:

1. The lady has got her head screwed on - I know, because I helped do it this afternoon!!

2. The highlighted text is code for "can i have free sex, please?"

3. The wife almost certainly doesn't exist

4. You couldn't make it up...or could you??

You should have a punting SIM card not a whole phone. Works for me.

Or (even better) an IP phone account - then there isn't even a SIM card to find.

Sorry to catch your attention to my driving sir, but its an open stretch of the motorway and a fairly straight road, so taking my hand of the wheel is not a problem usually.

Just making a booking for you to see a certain lady you had instructed me to contact, and to use some sexy chat to try to make her blush!.

As for my other hand, It was on your instructions to tell the escort we were coming!...... ;)

sorry to go off topic, but is this possible to do? (ie set a mobile to only ring a set of internal company phone numbers?)

You obviously didn't watch the BBC programme on driving dangers last year, http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01nqpby

after seeing that and how much even a quick glance can affect you I stopped touching my phone when driving. It was fairly alarming!

yes.

the company had all mobiles locked so only company & breakdown & 999 could be called.

...until you forget it's in there and call home, and you are shown as calling from an unfamiliar number! Or you leave it lying around with all those stored texts and call logs. No system is infallible.

I suspect what the company did was ask the mobile provider to allow the company mobile to only be able to call other company mobiles (and perhaps company landline extensions too).  All the mobile phone companies can provide this service.  As long as all the phones involved are paid on the same bill, it's easy to set up.

It wouldn't be much of a mobile phone if you can't call customers back on it. I know mine wouldn't be.

I have a separate punting phone - but I have all my usual contact numbers on it , but no escort numbers, so if the wife discovered it I would just claim it was backup -it only cost a fiver from Tesco, and I always delete any messages or dialled or received calls immediately after the punt.

I thought my personal mobile was pretty locked down - delete all history and even run the internet connection over a VPN (so traffic can't be viewed) but today noticed my replacement Android keyboard app had started to learn punting/agency names

But it gets worse. Not only does an agency name now appear as a first guess by the app before anything has been typed but if you select that word then the related next word appears - so the app has started to learn to replay my internet searches. So now I'm furiously having to finding ways to tell this app to un-learn stuff.

I get the obvious point that my punting hobby is probably out of control when this app thinks I'm more likely to start any sentence with an escort agency name rather than words such as "The" or "I"

The other thing which nearly tripped me up recently was Google history. So even though the web client was set to record nothing, Google was caching recent searches and throwing them up as suggestions when keys were typed. It's a never ending battle.

Get history eraser

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.eraser&hl=en

I like it cos it clears out the favourites in the contacts app.  but it clears browsing history and google maps search history as well.

1. Unless there is a very good reason as to why it is not possible please get a phone specifically for punting use.

2. Keep the number of apps on any phone to the minimum. Too much technology can be bad for your health.
