Best Euphemisms You Have Heard?

30 posts in this topic

Interesting bit on the BBC site today :

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22470691

Lovely euphemism for illicit extra-marital sex: 'slipping the moorings'.

And- courtsey of the Berlusconi legal wrangles - if you don't like the term punter , how about ' final user'?

 Any better ones out there?

I won't list them but I only recall the ones I didn't like such as euphemisms for condoms etc that get used in FRs.

Up to writer what he writes but some of them make me wonder why they use them.

Loads of daft euphos annoy me but when I read "so on with the raincoat" I just hate it

Thankfully very few clients have said it in my presence because I can not concentrate too well while thinking of a little raincoat with sleeves and buttons wrapped around a stiff one.

I think daty or "dining at the Y" conjures up a particularly vivid image.

It’s become somewhat hackneyed from overuse, hasn’t it? My own favourite for the act of cunnilingus is “a yodel in the canyon”.

I quite enjoy those agencies that (presumably trying to negotiate around the laws about controlling prostitution) list services but use some euphemism for services so they have plausible deniability that that is, in fact, what they are offering.

Electric Avenue Escorts refers to "hobbies".

EAT-City has "experiences"

Today for the first time in 9 years I was asked if I would like the "tribute".

Hate the expression but said yes anyway.  :D

I once called at a sheperds market walk up very late one NYE, and a huge, round, 50 something, west indian maid answered the door and told me the girl had gone home but offered to "help me" (i think she was offering me a hand job) which I thought was a very tactful way of putting it, i declined but we shared a smile about her choice of words... she said it in a really delicate way as if asking me in on a conspiracy... still makes me smile...

Going back a long time I liked a lot of the euphemisms used in the Barry McKensie strip cartoon in Private Eye.

Examples:-

"pointing Percy at the porcelain" (pissing)

"shaking hands with the wife's best friend" (pissing again, I always assumed... could be wanking?)

"techni-colour yawn" (vomiting")

"electric yodel" (vomiting)

Equally I liked some of the "anti-euphemisms" from same cartoon such as "built like a shit house door".... strangely often used to indicate approval of a Sheila he fancied.
