Credit Cards For Payments Guys ?

68 posts in this topic

I would just like to ask if any guys would consider paying by credit card if this service was available ? I have a mobile card reader I can plug into my mobile phone . The only problem is it's registered to my business which is called Annabelle which could show up on statements . I also have a paypal account I can instantly take payments , which would just show up as a mobile number , but my bank Is now offering a service where payments can be paid directly to my account and all you have to give is your mobile number , I wonder how you guys would feel about it ? I know a few agencies use card readers . Feedback greatly appreciated Anna xx

Cash only from me I'm afraid. There is always the risk that the WG is not honest, most are, but I wouldn't feel right handing over my card details.

I sometimes wire payments, either in advance or after the deed, but only to the girl that I know and trust. Depending on your bank, payments will turn up within an hour or two or next day.

Definitely woud NOT be happy with a mobile reader with somebody that I dont know as this is asking for trouble.

I would ditch the Paypal account as soon as you can - not only do they disapprove of adult services (and they will freeze your account and fine you/confiscate funds if they find out what it is being used for) but they are far more customer-friendly than merchant friendly and chargebacks can be made weeks, even months later. It won't make any difference if you've withdrawn the money, they'll just make your account overdrawn and charge you for that too; ditto credit/debit cards ('I don't know what this payment of £100 is for, my card was stolen yesterday, etc etc').

Plus you have to wait for your money and pay a third party a fee, which for an adult industry business is likely to be high as for whatever reason they still think we're all 'shady' in some way. Online transfers can be reversed, and also faked - there is/was a rip off merchant pulling a fast one on ladies by reckoning to be transferring them funds as they sat in front of his laptop not too long ago - it was a fake Natwest screen.

Cash is far, far simpler :).

Like most cash only, I too put money into the girls account in advance but only if I have seen her a few times & count her as a regular ... Would never use a CC ..... I work in IT security & hate using CC in a supermarket etc ....I try & avoid them in general.

Why? I use my Paypal account regularly and I've got nothing against them at all - they're entitled to run their business however they see fit. The information I've posted above is all there for anybody who bothers to read the small print (which of course is nobody).

All card payments have a risk of chargeback which could mean you are left high and dry with no money.

and punters wont like them cos card payments leave a trail which could expose their hobby.

cash is king in hookering. i think.

Surely it's got to be cash when punting Try explaining your credit card bill to your other half when it comes 120 for this 120 for that down the local parlour

Cash all they way.  I wouldn't have thought an escort would want to leave a paper trail, as i'm sure most escorts don't declare what they earn.

She's spot on.Even a hint of adult services,(and when sending cash vi paypal,in the notes section some people can be very careless in what they write)and they will freeze your account pending an investigation. You will not see a penny of any funds in it again.

This bugs me every time i see it written. It's common to see it written on other sites,"pay taxes" etc every other post.WG's are not breaking any law, they are free to register as self employed.Oddly we dont see these same jibes aimed at other cash heavy industries,ie cabbies, builders, decorators, window cleaners etc all of which ive known avoid registering as much as humanly possible

Thanks for all your help folks , yes the answers are what I expected cash only . Cash is king . Although some of my trusted regulars who are single might use the card facility. I was only thinking of regulars who know me enough to trust me . It's not for everyone . Just thought it was nice to offer to regulars . I will avoid my paypal account thanks . It annoys me that these companies wont accept payments from the adult industry , when its perfectly legal to sell your time as an escort . Yes its paypals business and there porogative to say who uses their facilities . I can't comment on any other WGs but I do pay tax as a self employed escort and declare my income . I also pay national insurance . I also have a business account with my bank under the name of Annabelle , so even my bank manager knows what I do . But thanks for all your advice there is nothing like good old cash Anna xx

Surprised girls would consider taking CC or paypal - given that the client could charge back. I also assume you would have to run straight figures through your self assessment.

I don't think many would take full payment that way, but some ladies take deposits for things like travel costs - mobile phone credit is one alternative way, and for larger sums Amazon gift certificates are great (and can't be charged back). I bought my mini fridge from there after I wound up with a bit of a stockpile.

Running 'straight figures' through your self assessment would be simplicity itself if it was all done like this but even so it's  still easy enough - you can sync your diary to the 'puter and just print it out (or write a weekly takings sheet), and pay for all your work stuff with a debit card so the expenses are just a matter of copying stuff out off your bank statement into whatever system you use (mine is all on paper, but I daresay others are a bit more sophisticated). There'll be a handful of paper receipts with things like taxi fares, but a one woman WG operation is hardly ICI, and there's no reason it has to be complex :).

It's rank hypocrisy from Paypal since they only object to actual WGs - you can buy and sell pretty much whatever porn DVDs you like (AFAIK), sex toys, whatever. But it's them who lose out as they're not making any fees from us so on their head be it <_<. That said, unless you've a really good reason to have a business account I would dump that too - my bank have known me for years and I don't lie to them about what I do any more than I do anybody else, but they have never been able to come up with a good reason why a sole trader running a simple operation should need one, and the fees for everyday stuff like paying cash in are ridiculous. An ordinary current account is fine.

Punting is a cash only business for me, it leaves no paper trail and there is always a risk of problems and disputes with cards. I know some London Agencies say they take cards and charge 10% or so, the ones i have seen, on top of the fee to do so.

Cash only for me. I have cards and bank accounts that are online only (with my sole access) but still wouldn't use them.

There is a major parlour in the North West who takes credit cards for booking payments, and has done so for many a year, though I have only ever seen cash transactions taking place, I assume that credit cards get used for the longer booking such as the overnighter, well it can cost over £500, it seems so silly to walk about with that much cash in your wallet.

I'd use my cards if I could. I'm single, so I'd not have to worry about items on my statements. If she tried to commit fraud using my details, it's not much hassle for the banks to sort out and I'd have no hesitation in reporting it to the police. I do like the new mobile transfers though, very secure as no account or card details are exchanged and transfers are done instantly.

then next year you get a g/f. You will then have to cover your tracks cos she wont appreciate your punting history.  Isnt it better to be careful now just in case?

Do you think many in your trade run straight figures - it is credit to you that you do - in most cash only trades people do not even shops and I know, for example, music teachers who work full time on paye and treat their private students as a nice little tax free earner - I can't see those girls from eastern europe doing straight accounts and paying out maybe £10K tax when the self employed tax bill comes due twice a year.

Well it's not really any of my business what other people do, so it's not really for me to speculate on - I can only speak for myself and there's already enough people posting who like to state their opinion as 'fact' despite having no way whatsoever of knowing the truth without me doing it too. I can say that I know plenty of ladies whom I believe (because I haven't seen their tax returns with my own eyes, and nor would I want to) do things properly, and a good few whom I believe do not - this isn't always as a result of greed or malicious intent and I've spoken to people for whom it genuinely didn't occur to them; they hadn't been self employed before and didn't know how to register, some still think that if they work part time or are studying they're not liable for tax and so on.

Being a bit thick and poorly informed is hardly the crime of the century and I doubt more than a handful of these women are the oft-described smirking chavs sticking two fingers up at the rest of us all whilst gloating over their next massive benefit cheque, although of course they're amongst us too - when they get shopped and have to pay it back I have no more sympathy for them than I imagine you would, and given the amount of tax I pay probably less. Quite a few put up and pay up not because they want to but because they're scared of getting reported and I don't blame them, plus there's only so long you can accumulate piles of cash for and it's pretty useless beyond a certain stage in the days where most day-to-day bills go through direct debits, everything you buy at a supermarket is logged, if you pay bills with cash over the counter you'll be on CCTV and so on. If I didn't do things properly I wouldn't have been mortgage-free at thirty seven and able to enjoy lots of the things I like doing without having to look over my shoulder all the time, and spend endless hours weaving a tissue of lies to corroborate my story so that I can live like a pig in shit by stealing money from public services and those who use them.

Pigeonholing people is convenient, and we're hardly the only people who are subject to lazy, negative stereotyping because of what we do for a living; not all builders are cowboys, not all accountants are boring (mine isn't) and not all bankers are cunts (probably). It's tedious having to hear it over and over, but I'm long since past the point where I let it bother me because people who apply the maxim that 'all x is y' to anything are more than likely going to be simple folk, and therefore their opinions are not for us to be troubled with.

I should say I'm in the Isle of Man at the moment and I have absolutely no idea how it works over here as the tax system's completely different; ditto the US. I'd be interested to know what ladies do there to get round it all. I've seen a few ads when I've been in New York for ladies/places that take card payments, too.
