Met a lady a while ago who said she was studying for a teaching degree. Did wonder then what impact any run-ins with the law might have on that career choice.

You do know that providing sexual services for money is not illegal in the UK, right?

What bollocks! That researcher has been taken for a fool by his responents.

One in twenty student working in the sex industry? That mean that here in Norfolk there are literally hundreds of University of East Anglia students on the game. And I can assure you that there are not.

If only...sigh....

I do. I also know that with our dodgy CRB "think of the children" enhanced disclosure system, suspicion, here-say or simply coming to the police's attention can be as damaging as a conviction.

Yes absolute rubbish. As though most students are going to be telling anyone they dont have to they are WGs. Tittle tattle could cost them dear in reality, so being secretive and discreet is the smart thing to be in my view. Why would many even answer whats purported to be totally anonymous surveys. Again if smart you keep it to yourself, basic common sense to my mind.

Personally i dont believe any surveys or reports on punting, too many people with their own agendas for my liking to just take their word for it. Certainly punter wise, who knows how many of us there really are, no one knows.

So if many would not disclose then the real percentage would be considerably more than 6%

In all my years I've had exactly one confirmed student, she was studing fashion. I think student working girls is a angle to counterpoint the rising costs of tuition rather than a significant number of girls.

Also some WGs advertise as students because they know some punters get turned on by such advertising. Personally i punt for sex, i dont ask to see a WGs student union card or course work to verify she is actually a student. Some guys with a hard cock will believe any old guff that turns them on.

I have seen a least one girl who advertised that she was a student but was clearly not (she told me her real occupation). She also lied about her age.

My guess is that very very few students moonlight as WGs

I must admit that it struck me as research intended to be used to "attack" the "consequences" of rising fees rather than a serious investigation into prevalence of sex working students.

When I used to punt in Leeds, there were a lot who claimed to be students, not had any WG claim that now I'm punting in MK.

One phase that did confuse me was the claim 6% were working in the sex industry, then listed jobs such as pole dancing , stripping etc......

the last 2 "Escorting or Prostitution" what is the difference?

@pokernn The 6% includes those working in titty bars so not all selling sexual intercourse

In £20 per lap dance joints most girls are under 30 hence they have a higher than average chance of being students.

Besides depends how you define student could be anything from someone doing an evening class all the way up to someone studying for a PhD.

Escorting doesn't always involve sexual intercourse whereas prostitution does

Some girls find older men attractive enough, so I can well understand why a student might be quite happy to have an arrangement whereby they have regular paid sex with one or two men that they trust.  I have a lovely girl who I see  now and again and on the basis that she finds me reasonably attractive, then its money for old rope really.

Why? I can't imagine any particular reason that students would be less likely to moonlight as WGs than anyone else.
