Where was it?

I have been to places in Leicester I have never latched on to the name of (eg in Abbey Street if that's the right street name...)

But I am not saying I expect to recognise it and certainly not the girls in all probability.

Thewre were 2 shops on Green Lane Road in early 90s.

First one was towards the quite end, after the trtaffic lights, next to a video shop / DIY Shop.

(I think you are referring to this, as this was opewn until approx 2003/4).

2nd one was towards the more busier end, next to a FLorist shop / opposite an Indian Restaurant.

(this one must have closed down in mid to late 90s).

Can't help the OP as never had the courage to try either of them, as they were too close for comfort.

No help sorry but your mention of Evington reminds me of Evington rd reminds me of Lace in late 90s run by a group of young ladies.

i recall giving three of a them a lift home to Derby and them singing carols at midnight Xmas Eve ((leaving me 90 miles from home...).

I went to Lace once. Would have been 1996/7 time. Had an excellent punt but the cab office next door was rather offputting with jeers and catcalls as you arrived and left. I never went back because of it and suspect that applied to a lot of people......

In addition, I was aware through other sources that the Post Office Across the road and some offices above it kept a tab of who went in and out

of that premises.on Evington Road.

Being local, I avoided ALL parlours in the area at the time. Looking back, am glad I did that.

Well they haven't caught up with me yet...

What was the name of the place with an entrance next to the hotel on Granby Street? had a very busty young lady as receptionist whom I went out for drink with and would have been gagging but had seen her when she worked at Kikus on opp side of road.

I can't remember the name, but was the one that had an entrance next to a wedding dress shop?

Yes that's the one. Occasionally if I was there late, one or two girls would take me to a pub close by and drink the work out of their systems. Four shorts would go down the same throat in a minute or two.

Got the name of the one by hotel and wedding shop - Whispers in 1995.

Kiku was across the road above the porn shop.

Hats off to you for your memory of names of Leic Parlours.

I simply remembered them for their location, as some of them changed names and ownership every other week.

Remember the Penthouse suit on Hinckley Rd, the one that always changed its name on the top of Saffron lane and a few along Melton Rd. Best place though was a house on Devana Rd, always had a decent girl there!

Devana Road..... Came across Melanie who used to work there (circa 2000). Saw her so many times, even after she officially retired. She finally

packed it in when she found a fella and then moved on to the North-West.

She also mentioned to me how a certain owner of a diy corner-shop only 50m from the flat would usually pop in at least once a week.

I used to see Melanie too. A great girl. I reckon she must be around 43 now. Hope she is happy.

Another excellent place was on Melton Road. Heading out of town it was over a crossroads on the left. Name escapes me but it was run by Venus. Used to see (as well as Venus!) a very large black girl called Eve. Great fun

Thanks for some memories

Can anyone remember the many individual ladies that used to work in the Highfield areas back in the 70's?

The mention of Evington Road brought back memories, along with Myrtle Road, Cedar Road, Earl Howe Street and Worthington Street - to name just a few. No one way or dead end streets and traffic calming in those days.

Every other house seemed to have a lady at the window or by an open door.

Last place I remember visiting was a lady that had a Antique shop and a huge Rocky dog in Maynard Road - and a water bed.

Ah - happy memories of punting in the last century

PS. And I'm still enjoying Punting :)

Now I know I'm supposed to be an oldie, but the above brought a smile to my face, as this was all before MY TIME, hehe.

I know the area well, having been brought up near this area and all the street names are recognisable from the RLD area of the time,

including Berners St., Melbourne Road, later moving on to Kent Street Industrial area. As it was too close for comfort, I never picked

up anyone from any of these streets.

Which reminds me..... DOes anyone recall Cinecenta Cinema in Abbey Street?

Cinecenta No 3 Used to show Porno Movies up until late 80s definitely and possibly until early 90s?

I recall a few of us alds bunking Sports on Wed afternoons and ending up watching the shows there.

The first movie was usually a non-interesting sex documentary, followed by an average porno film.

Then there was Emmanuelle Cinema on High St, which combined Porno Movies + a strip show.

Only went there once in mid-80s before it closed down.

There was a place in Leicester called Pharoahs ? I think it was Abbey Street - opposite an ncp car park. I remember going there late one night and saw a girl from basford in nottingham. She came in the room with a bag of phet and 4 tins of stella - I remember thinking "blimey, this is going to be interesting". Anyhow, she was a real live wire and great fun - I ended up giving her a lift back to nottingham and saw her a couple of times after that.

Pharaohs had a very wide range of girls...You never knew quite what you would get! I heard a rumour they were all from Nottingham and driven there and back each day. I think Phoebe ended up there but the line up never stayed stable. A lot of people didnt feel especially safe or confortable there and l dont think it stayed open for long.

I went there once and just remember a rather impressive ancient Rome look about the place including the girl wearing a short toga.

Made a change for a place to make the effort to have a complete theme to the place, especially in those days a decade or more ago.

I didn't experience or hear about the sense of unease mentioned though.
