Prostitution: Sex Doesn't Sell

17 posts in this topic

Interesting article Wyke Tyke.  Note Mr McCoys site is down/not had many visitors- maybe that's because everyone has sussed him out :D

Maybe they should ask those who book escorts, or visit parlours, if they think sex sells, as believe me, I have spent more on these purchases than I have done in my local supermarket....

A good quality product will always provide a customer.

Its a buyers market.  Punters will consider very carefully which ladies they will see.

so if times are hard, look at your offering.

consider

new pix on AW. are the old ones as good as you have?  Many girls think it is adequate to photograph themselves with a mobile phone in a mirror.  Get some decent pix taken.  Is the pic that comes up on the search results pic your best one, especially when its only 1 inch square?  you need to entice the punter to click through to your profile page.

Look at your written stuff?  Is it good enough?  Does it sell you as the best?

consider writing a blog. A girl I see writes some very naughty stuff in her AW blog and that .often gets me to thinking about seeing her again.

do a search thinking as a punter would. do you come up close to the top of searches?  if not why not -and fix it.  I know with civvie comparison sites people rarely look more that 2-3 from the top of the list.

Said it before on another similar thread...bunkem!As coventry has said do your marketing right, put the effort in to advertising and it is possible to do this fulltime and have a very livable wage.

As for George Maccoys site...there are many better.Worry if punternet or aw goes down the pan.

Of course something like McCoys is getting less visitors. Why pay to use his site when you can check out other directories for free.I remember years back at London erotica when he was touting his book, talking about expanding into new areas etc.To be honest,i'm glad the creepy little turd is losing trade, especially after hearing some of the stories about him that are floating about.
The trouble with an article like that, due to the nature of the industry they have no actual figures to work with and rely on heresay.Using just anecdotal evidence you can pretty much write and come to any conclussion you wish to

I read the original as I get the Economist and it's typically naive when they write anything about the sex industry.

Truth is it's a tough economy for all service providers be they accountants, lawyers, WGs or whatever. But there is still plenty of demand for someone giving a good service, well-presented and at a reasonable price.

I saw that article about 4 months ago - it's a rehash of an earlier one. Nothing new in it.

Was McCoy ever big anyhow?  He had his book, but this was before the Web became big.  And back then, there was more stigma against punting (there is still some now, but not as big IMO).

If she is only doing 2 or 3 jobs a day and charging 100 an hour then thats still a possible 300 a day she is talking about. Its comparative to what you are used too but by no means skintsville.

Regarding girls in london halving their fee, well if they were charging the average of 200 or 250 an hour before then thats just bringing them in line with what the rest of the country has been charging. I know the cost of living is higher in London but if you set yourself up in one of the exclusive areas then what do you expect. I know one girl who moved to a very expensive area so her landrover would be safe, or that was her story anyway, then moaned about the rent. She had to work on extra day per week to make up the difference but in reality those 4 days per week were actually double the extra rent she needed.

I do believe its quieter than it used to be. Its not on the floor though but then I guess it depends what area you live in, how you market yourself etc. You cant charge a high fee then make it obvious you cant spell and answer the phone sounding like you left school at 12. You have to charge whats realistic.

There is a market for everyone, you just need to find it and not have any airs and graces about yourself x

He's a stupid git who wtites false information about escorts on his site and refuses to take them down. I had a particularly unpleasant conversation with him recently. On his daft website he said that I charge £250 independently, however I can be found at £200 at the agencies I work for, which is rubbish, and counterproductive of advertising - why would I advertise independently and then say I charge less at an agency?! So therefore he was directing clients to my agencies rather than my personal website. He publishes false information and writes a "review" based on information he pinches from other websites plus a bit of his own bs, and constructs it in a way to make it look like he has actually seen the escort. The best bit of our conversation was when I told him to take me off his site as I hadn't given permission for him to have me there, and his response was "well if I took everyone down who asked to be I'd have less than half the girls on there", that to me said it all. His website is nonsense and any sensible punter wouldn't rely on it.

There are a couple of parlours in Manchester, where he was given a free 30 minute service for favourable reports, and to mention the owner as if they were friends of his, so that the parlour would get good reviews of the girls, as well as the parlour being viewed favourably to entice girls to apply for jobs.

London too.  So I've heard.

That food hacks link at the bottom of the article shows you how to separate an egg yolk from the white, with an empty plastic bottle.  I didn't expect to learn that neat trick on this thread.

That and trying to extort free services with vield threats of bad reviews if they refused

There's so much wrong with that article, I don't know where to start. The picture is just typical press caricaturing of WGs as drug addled street walkers.

The best bit was the line:

"Another woman says that some punters are just as anxious to talk about the difficult job market as they are to have sex."

i have to say I have read this topic with much interest. I am a punter who punts because of lack of physical excitement in my marriage. I will be honest and say I am not proud of it but it keeps the urges at bay. i would not say i am a model but I do consider myself attractive and have many elements which would make me desirable to the opposite sex (not being arrogant here)

I agree with one theme here when it comes to mutual enjoyment and that is chemistry. I do not go to a punt with pre conceived ideas based on pictures profile etc. Often regardless of the cost of a punt the service is only  good for me if there is chemistry. I accept you cant not always tell if there is a good actress but often you can. I now have a regular where chemistry is excellent but we do not cross boundaries or get personal. This is fine for me. Ultimately though I am working to find this in my marriage and would like to retire from punting. It serves its purpose for now but hurts my conscience and it is something that i find a weakness in me that i am not comfortable with.
