Outing A Sex Worker: A Possible Response

We all know that every now and again this sort of thing happens. however wouldn't be nice if as WGs we could organise a substantial response like taking our red umbrellas and occupying the newspaper office.

I am wondering who could organise such an event.

I would happily take part in such an occupation

From what I have been told, there are people on here guilty of that.

I rather fear that you are right there! I had a long conversation yesterday with a lady who is currently the subject of malicious attacks on another punting site. Some of the names she mentioned do ring bells as posters also on this board.

I can understand (although I'd like to pull their feet from under them) muck-raking journalists "outing" a WG if they think that destroying her life, and probably that of her children too, will sell a few newspapers, but for punters who are no better than, and, arguably morally rather worse than, WGs to engage in campaigns of intimidation on-line, is, IMHO beyond the pale. I'd like to see the birch and the stocks brought back for them.

The bitch with the birch sounds like the sort of sound bite I could live with :)

I told a certain girl here that I wasn't comfortable with her racism once.  Her response was to send me a text informing me the she had sent all my details to nationals and even went on lots of forums boasting about it.  If girls do it to each other there's not much chance of stopping reporters...

Tell your lady to keep her chin up and ride it out, they'll get bored and move on.

I also notice they claim copyright for the photo which has been taken from her website.

I find that to be reprehensible...

The government is meant to be clamping down on the media for invading the privacy of people for news not regarded as in the public interest. It might be worth organizing a group and as a group hire a law firm to represent your case. This is a service thats been around for longer than almost any other so don't see why now its suddenly everyones business.

Just a thought

I have just stumbled across this thread.  I know.................  anyone can get outed despite all the measures she takes to make sure that she is discreet - there is always someone willing to try and ruin your life.  It happened to me and I do not show my face anywhere.

Does/did this lady show her face?  I am not saying for one moment that anyone showing their face deserves to be outed - God forbid that - but why would you - especially if you come from a high profile family - show your face?

If she didn't then someone please say so?

Occuying the newspaper offices would be a short-term response to demonstrate the outrage and injustice caused by the tabloids. It would, at best, be a media event to highlight the hypocracy and intrustion on the part of the gutter press. The event may get limited coverage in other media outlets, but only for a day. The vicious backlash from the tabloid against WGs who participated in the occupying however will be sustained and malicious.

The press are still a powerful institution in the UK who can avoid any regulation as the recent outcome to the Leverson enquiry has shown. A more effective response might be to organize a public boycott of the tabloid in question, just like the people of Liverpool are doing in protest against the lies and vilification printed by The Scum. The one thing that would make the tabloids more likely to listen to their victims is when there's a threat to their already declining circulation

She works in England not Scotland.   I was going to PM you a link to the Agency last night and noticed they had taken her off the home page but the direct link in my browser history still worked.  I found her easy enough by Google image search on the photo they used with the story because my gut told me they had used her photo.

I think it would be good if SAAFE and/or SCOT-PEP could have a scheme to support these ladies like the buddy schemes that opperate have for newbie girls.  They would be ideally placed to find sympathetic lawyer to challenge one of these stories.

Utterly pathetic post which tells you all you need to know about why the status quo in society is what it is. If you don't like something, DO SOMETHING about it. Organise a protest yourself. Stand -- solo if need be -- with your own red umbrella outside the newspaper office and make your feelings known. That is the nature of protest. I wonder if Rosa Parks would have sought administrative help on a bulletin board before standing up to be counted?

What you're saying is "dearie me, I'm unhappy, someone organise me a bitch-in and send me the GPS co-ordinates, make sure it's a nice day and organise a tea urn and I'll happily show up and add my voice."

Protests are about action, energy, anger and initiative. Wondering who could organise one for you is about the most feeble response to adversity I have ever heard. Risible.

I do understand this , but I am unfamiliar with UK laws and practices so it is hard for me to take a lead on such matters, in India we would have the hijra and thugs accompany us to such an event

I think if they were around in Rosa Parks day she would very much have used the social media to gain sympathy for her cause.

When they changed the law to make the clients prosecutable should they end up shagging a girl not to happy with her job did you stand outside in the park as a lone figure?

If they change the law to make prostitution illegal altogether will you stand outside in the park protesting it publicly. I dont think you will, you guys will expect us girls too but want to protect your identity.

I agree with your point regarding organising a protest though. Protests are organised out of passion, fury at injustice etc and always start with one person who goes into it knowing that it could affect them adversely but feel strongly enough that they just do not care about the personal outcome, its all for the cause etc . I dont see it risible though to ask this question, thats a very strong word to use. It just shows that the OP whereas she is horrified does not have the full force of feeling required on the subject to get the ball rolling...or perhaps she just doesn know how.

Rani, tweet your followers, mention it on your website, contact the escorts rights groups and speak to them about a protest, they may be able to advise you, or they may advise you to drop it x

Can you shed some light on the name of the other site?  It's always good to get 2 sides of a story
