Yet Another Call To Criminalise The Purchase Of Sex

13 posts in this topic

Just found this on the independent website:

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/should-prostitution-be-legal-lets-try-listening-to-the-real-experts-8829716.html

Rachel Moran stating that "I believe if a prostitute or former prostitute wants to see prostitution legalised, it is because she is inured both to the wrong of it and to her own personal injury from it. I see now that I was mistaken when I conceded in my debate with my friend that ‘maybe’ legalisation would have made us physically safer."

There are currently no comments rebutting (or supporting) this viewpoint as it only went on today.

Usual lazy journalism. illustrating prostitution with a girl in the street and a car.  When with these lazy journos realise that is only a tiny part of prostitution and produce material accordingly.

I wont put a comment up as I cant do it anonymously -you have to sign in with google, arse book or twatter.

Typical rubbish. Surprised that as a former prostitute she doesn't realise prostitution is legal. As I understand it what working ladies are calling for is a change in the definition of a brothel to enable more than one to be legally on the premises.

Rachel Moran has no credibility, she is a TORL cheerleader who called for high 5s all round when our disgraceful anti sex worker committee here in Ireland published horiffic anti sex worker (even worse than anti client) recommendations which would clearly put sex workers' safety in extreme danger!

She claims to have been street walking since about 14 and never met a decent client! Well, honey, if your target market was perverts who were interested in having sex with 14 year old girls, you were never going to meet a decent client!

Oddly none of the sex worker contributers to EI who would have been contemporaries of her remember her at all, working on the streets!

She is also a self admitted ex cocaine addict!

If her personal experience was as an addiction-feeding under-age streetwalker, illegal on three counts, it hardly is a relevant argument for the criminalisation of the off-street trade

Now if the abolitionists could get an ex-indie to say the same, they really would have a poster girl for their campaign, but AFAIK they haven't

But is this Rachel Moran another "Patricia Perquin"? i.e. another fraud claiming to be a sex worker with tragic (and fictional) tales to tell us to stir up scaremongering and to put pressure on the government to change laws?

If Ms. Moran is a fraud, then it wouldn't be the first time: http://maggiemcneill.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/dutch-threat/

If they can't find someone who really is/was a sex worker to support the "Swedish model" and have to get someone to masquerade as a forced victim, then that really damages the credibility of the antis.

The ultimate evidence for the lies propagated by the mainstream media, the government and various self-interested pressure groups is their complete inability to openly and transparently speak to any "johns" or working girls who are not damaged or otherwise mentally broken. Those that are interviewed are invariably painted as loser males who are ashamed of themselves or those women who've seen the light and realized they were exploited all along (none of whom of course will give any money made to womens groups etc - ie cash in when your young then claim victimhood when you cant make money anymore, I guarantee that in twenty years miley cyrus will be moaning about how she was exploited.)

Its quite simple paying for sex will ALWAYS be demonized and for the following reason. It undermines womens pussy pass leverage. When women are subject to a liberal free sexual market they lose that leverage. Lets say porn was banned and the only sex you could get was through marriage, what would all you guys do? I'm getting married guaranteed! Coercively reducing that sexual free market always raises the price of pussy and offers advantages to women by men offering provisoning and traditional courtship for trade. The vast majority of women are the REAL slut shamers!! Some of the most vicious twitter/internet attacks on prostitutes, porn stars, half-nude pop stars come from women and very often uglier women (see the ridiculous Sinead O'connors recent slut shaming of Miley Cyrus, conveniently dressed up with feminist garbage that blames horriblly exploitative business men)

Its in their interest to reduce other womens sexual agency. This is why counter-intuitively many white western women are turning to Islam, its primarily about reducing sexual competition. If no-one can see what you look like everyones equal!!
