Laptop Cursor Eating Text

7 posts in this topic

Hi all,

I have a supposed top of the range Samsung laptop and had to get it repaired recently!

I do not have Microsoft Office installed but when I try to post in forums such as this and others, the cursor seems to have developed a mind of its own and is effectively gobbling text which I type!

Is it as simple as a virus (I have anti virus installed) or something else. it's driving me daft!

There are two settings;

OVR = Overwrite, deletes existing text as you type.

Ins = Insert text while pushing existing test to the left.

You switch between modes with a keystroke or combination of keystrokes, It varies from keyboard to keyboard. So you will need to research for your computer.

Virus is unlikely.

its your touchpad detecting something that makes the cursor jump

google touchfreeze.  its a wee application that detects you typing and disables the touchpad.  when you stop typing it re-enables the touchpad.

I have it and it works well

It's a software/design flaw in the laptop.  Mine does the same.  Software above recommended.  I also bought a wireless keyboard and mouse as I find it easier to use...

Try pressing Num Lock or Insert key on the keyboard and then try typing again
